I bought this antenna via Ebay.

Generally I only watch IPTV and therefore I did not watch free channels for a long time. I will say I watched free channel probably 3 years ago.
yeah try point the antenna in a different direction and make sure the plug isn't loose.
Does the TV have an analog tuner or digital tuner (or both), we have an older LCD in our fleet that only has an analog tuner.
Both
I would say it's the antenna plug
This is the antenna I purchased via Ebay and received today
Does the TV have a setting that completely resets it and returns it to factory defaults?
I suspect that the TV is simply not set uo correctly.
Hoe to reset Tv?
Using a hoe is an extreme measure. Try checking in the menu first.
take it to a neighbour/friend - plug into their antenna.
If you post which city you are in and a rough suburb we can try and figure out how far away you are from the broadcast towers. In some situations indoor antennas are a complete waste of time and the only way you'll receive anything is via a roof mounted antenna.
I am in Bankstown NSW
To receive a digital signal on an indoor antenna in Bankstown, you will need to place the antenna on a window facing north-east. Again, as someone else posted, be sure that your TV DOES have a digital tuner in it, otherwise, the purchase of an inexpensive set-top box may be necessary.
Try another tv in that location with your antenna. If that tv receives a signal then the tuner (not tuna) in your set could be dead? Tuners usually get zapped if they are on an external antenna when there is lighting around.
Have you had the tv for a while or have you just purchased it used? People will sell TV's with zapped tuners by demonstrating a dvd movie on it.
I have this tv for nearly 5.5 years
I hardly use free channels but I need them for kids now.
For a cheap-brand TV, 5½ years can be regarded as a pretty good innings. Brutal reality.
If the video inputs are still working, and presumably they still are, and if you can't quite spring for a new set, you should be able to buy a set-top box (buy an HD one for extra channels) for very little money on eBay or Gumtree. They can't all have been sent to the tip.
Could you benefit from a signal booster?
they inject more power to your cable and amplify the signal
http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tv-video/antennas/signal-booster…
They also amplify the noise, so the OP will still have to get the antenna pointed in the right direction to maximise their chances of success. Given that it's an indoor antenna, their chances are low…
You don't mention anything about just having moved - just that you've bought a new antenna.
Has the TV just stopped working?
If so - either you're experiencing interference that is obliterating every channel (which can happen - bought any el-cheapo LED's or other electronics online recently?) (or have the neighbours?), or, sorry… you may just have buggered TV.
Even with a crap indoor antenna (most are) you should get some sort of signal indication thus my thought he has a fried tuner maybe?
Possibly not with digital tv. It's an all or nothing.
Probably the same TV an the one in this deal 5 1/2 years ago.
Buying an internal antenna doesn't necessarily mean you will get a signal. Anything could have happened to the tv or internal tuner within the past 3 years since it was last used. You will need to verify the tv and antenna by taking them to a known working source and plug it in there then rescan tv. And testing the antenna on another working tv to make sure it actually works and not faulty.
FML..
i bought TV from dick smith around same time but paid $800.
I worked in an electronics store for 10 years and found that in 9 times out of 10 an indoor antenna (even with amplifier) will not work for digital tv.
I'm in a generally marginal signal area, and because of the demands of bloody analogue UHF SBS as it was, installed a high-gain antenna + amplifier to feed a couple of sets.
When buying into digital, out of laziness I thought I'd try an amplified indoor antenna (albeit a reasonably expensive one) to feed another set and a STB. A bit more susceptible to pulse-interference, but otherwise worked a treat.
Pleasantly surprised.
I have 4 here that all work fine on indoor antennas.
I did find that store bought indoor antennas were a bit pathetic.. they got a signal but it was weak.
I ended up making my own.. used a balun and 2 pieces of thin 100mm long wire… beats all the store bought antennas I tried.
The home made antennas just plug straight in and have no lead. The leads can cause excessive signal loss.
Are you absolutely certain that you have a digital tuner? If you do are you sure you are using digital scan, and not analogue? I was caught out with this. I bought a Samsung 6 years ago naively thinking it had a digital tuner and it didn't. I had to buy a set top box to receive digital when it switched over a few months ago.
Same thing happened to our 32" tv on the weekend. Rescanned heaps of times…nothing!
Plugged another tv in to the antenna, worked fine.
Any good deals on tv's anywhere? (JB hi-fi seem to be the cheapest?

Who installed the antenna?
Is it pointed in the right direction?
When did your Vivo TV last work?
