ALL jokes aside, Malaysian Airlines pricing for one-way fares is very very good. A lot of other airlines charge you almost the same price for one-way as for a return ticket.

Also there was nowhere to put my frequent flyer number, or select/pay for a seat, and also their booking reference and flight reservation numbers are not recognized by MAS web site, and so I cannot access the booking there. But very happy with the price. Especially as some MAS flight prices have gone up through their own web site (maybe due to exchange rate changes?)
Access STA for booking reference, flight reservation and seating reservation. (click on your reservation code) Go to Enrich MAS for frequent fryer. Multi sector booking is cheaper than single sector; check it out on STA website. Check your preference before you book. MAS prices has to be higher than tour agencies to encourage more tour agent to sell for them.
After buying tickets from here, is there any way we can reserve the seats and give meal preference beforehand?
Very Good question. I now have what looks like a booking reference that would be compatible with Malaysian Airlines web site, but I still cannot manage my booking on the MAS web site.

Their reply: You cannot manage STA bookings online.
However if you email them their customer service is first class and you might just get what you want! Because they were a big help to me with my dietary requirements.
Also certain bookings with MAS will receive an email offer to bid for an upgrade. I had also booked direct with MAS and I received such an offer. However it appears to me that bookings through STA do not get the offer.
Thanks, I called them. They were really helpful. As it's an exclusive STA ticket, only they can manage seat arrangements for us instead of the usual online arrangement. Give them a call with your booking number handy if required!
Do we need travel insurance though? I spoke to one and stated ' do you want to risk without it ' - got me thinking since I don't travel much.
