  • Id like to hear from anyone who has or know someone who has these monitor also.

    Question: why 144hz?

    • What do you mean? it's the monitors refresh rate.

    • I heard that once you go 120/144hz, you will not go back to 60hz monitors.

    • Image updates quicker on the screen so the motion looks smoother. Makes fast paced games look better, and it's easier to focus on moving objects.

    • If your video card can handle it, it will provide much smoother transitions and remove the motion blur seen on your normal 60Hz monitors.

    • +1

Up to 144 updates to the screen a second instead of 60, so animations and such look smoother, as long as your video card can handle outputting that many FPS.

Looking at the specs this monitor only has HDMI and VGA. Does HDMI even support 144Hz?

    • +2

No, that is why the package includes Dual Link DVI Cable.

Also, it does have DVI. Here is a low-res photo of the back of the monitor, but you can see the white DVI port.

They didn't bother to list that in the Specs section, I had to read it in the manual. HDMI and VGA won't do 144Hz at any resolution so I knew something was missing.

      • OK. Still pointless for me though, my gaming laptop only has HDMI and DisplayPort. Oh well, considering it's a laptop I should probably only be aiming for 60fps anyway. :P

        • You can get DisplayPort to DVI adapters, not sure if it will pass through the 144Hz though.

    • It would have been better form them to provide DVI input too. Their website is not listing DVI as an input.

You never know with Kogan gear, so it would be better to confirm with them first.

  • Will pass on the 24", but that's a great price on the 27". Just ordered. Thanks for the heads up! I may post it as a separate deal. Been waiting for it to drop for a while :)

  • Any more info on this? sounds too good to be true, is it rebranded or made by kogan?

    • As I remember these are either A- or B+ screens from LG that Apple rejected because they only accept A+ screens. A bit similar to the korean screens like Catleap or CrossOver. Judging from the stand, I think quality will be close to Catleap.

      • Does a lower grading of monitor not allow it to support 144hz on 4:3 aspect ratios? It seems odd it cannot support 100hz and above for lower resolutions (according to the manual, at least).

      • I guess without knowing the exact panel model inside it's pretty hard to know for sure. They used to show the panel model on the specs tab, but not any more.

  • Its listed at 259$ for me? has the priced change?

    • Yep already expired. Quick sale hey.

  • Got the monitor within 2 business days and can say that I'm completely satisfied with it. The only thing that some people might have a problem with is its construction. It's plastic, lightweight and might seem flimsy but the screen is superb for me. It replaced my 120hz ASUS VG236H as well!

    • Are you able to run 144Hz at smaller 4:3 resolutions? I.E 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 etc.

  • Does this mean this monitor cannot support 144Hz at 1024x768? I find this very strange.

    • Yes, that would seem strange. Not sure if that is normal for lower/non-standard resolutions. Perhaps shoot Kogan a support ticket to clarify. It's not the first time their specs have been misleading/incorrect.

      • Deleted? :o

        • I misread your comment, so what I originally wrote was wrong. Couldn't find a delete option to just wrote "Deleted" Have rewritten something more useful now. :p

        • Ahhh I see! Haha.

In the past on older monitors, I've always been able to run higher refresh rates on lower resolutions with no problem, I find it strange that they're 'not supported' on this model.
