I would recommend against pre ordering, Rockstar's history of PC ports is inconsistent at best, better to wait until we find out how the game is first in case of day 1 failure.

    • I agree, though I think this should fare better than previous attempts as it was ported to x86 code for latest consoles. Surely they can't fudge it up from there.

  • On another slightly different note, stole a Singapore edition for PS3 from the local charity shop in excellent condition for $10! Bought it for a friend.

I'd rather not have to download it for $5 more …

I realise it's probably not going to have the free game or in-game cash but meh.

    • Just as a caution, there's no guarantee that this will redeem on Steam. More than likely it will redeem on their own platform (Rockstar social club).

  • Is Greenman Gaming the site where you have to use their stupid download client to procure the games?

      I've always gotten steam codes.

Capsule (is their client) and is rarely used. Most keys are Steam or uPlay (for many Ubisoft games). GTA V however is a "Rockstar Games Social Club redemption code" whatever that turns out to be.

GMG always state on the product page which DRM platform the product key will be for.

  • If you're after a Steam key for GTA V, don't buy it off GMG. It redeems on their DRM (Rockstar social club). Seems most third party redeem there instead of Steam.

    • But would a Steam key simply be double DRM ie launch from Steam will launch Rockstar Social Club and from there you can launch GTA V. In much the same way that many Ubisoft games on Steam simply luanch uPlay first and then the game?

      • Once you install it you don't need steam anymore (or you can simply turn steam overlay off). If you're buying it, you might as well have Steam as an option since most prefer the features (hours tracking, screenshot uploading, steam chat, files sync, etc.).

Having said that, I'm not paying $80 (!!!!) for GTA 5 especially since it can't be resold.

      • Yes, the Social club is going to be used regardless. You don't need to run it if you're not playing online from what I remember, that's if it's the same as GTA 4. But if you want the game on Steam then more than likely the only way to get it on Steam is to buy it on Steam.

  • I wanted to use it on The Talos Principle, but it didn't work

$80 Aud seems crazy high for a game these days, especially a cdkey of game which came out almost 2 years ago.

  • Just got an email from GMG that the code has been extended until this Friday (6 Feb).
