FujiFilm L30 going for $40 at BigW Auburn 2144, there is heaps in Stock perfect gift idea for Mums, Kids, Grandma, taking pictures of BigFoot or buying it for that friend who deserves a gift but nothing too expensive.

Seems pricey for old specs, 10MP, 3x, 2.4" screen, considering the better spec cheap camera deals lately.
The $3.75 (after Cashback & ING etc 5% rebate) Canon Ixus 145 has 16MP, 5X, 2.7" screen, if you can find stock at Kmart.
Or in same Kmart deal, the $39 Samsung with WiFi, 16MP, 12X, 2.7" screen, optical image stabilisation. (Transfers photos wirelessly to smartphone.)
Even a 32x FujiFilm for $59.
MP and zoom aren't everything. The 32x on the Fuji stood for 32x of yuck from what few reviews I could find, which all complained about horrible washed out image quality. Who builds a 32x zoom and not even an EVF!? only 2-3 choices for aperture so drop the A mode altogether.
That said there's nothing compelling about the L30 either.
I haven't seen cameras with 2.4" screens or 10MP for sale for a long time ;-)
I deliberately added it at the end although others like it. Ultimately it was too bulky for basic travel my use. Still it is only $59, which is a bit cheap for an EVF (I know, it was much dearer) ;-)
I own the other 2, bought in that Kmart deal. The Samsung isn't so pretty, but I like it, particularly the zoom & wireless transfer of photos - a nice add on to a cheap phone.
And at $3.75, I don't think the Canon can be beaten on price. But software rather than optical image stabilization. It looks better than it performs, but not a bad entry level point & shoot.
What about husbands, fathers and grandfathers?
