  • Just beware that the Zenfone wont take a fall i had mine in a case and it slipped out of my hands and hit on the corner shattering the glass, the plastic surrounding the glass is very thin. On the other hand my Huawei g526 has had many falls and never broke, the back cover just comes off and battery falls out.

    • Could have hot at just the "right" angle to smash the screen.
Is ZenFone 6's Intel model still only Dual-Core?
We have (& will from now be more careful with) the non-Intel Quad-Core ZenFone 5, & it seems much faster than what we replaced with it.

      • Oh, if the Intel-ver 6 isn't Quad-Core, is there a non-Intel Quad-Core to consider (yet)?

    • If u dropped your phone and it landed on a corner, the screen is likely to shatter in most cases no matter what phone ur using. The impact point is small that means the force of impact couldnt be spread across the screen. Simple physics. I have a zenfone 5 and ive dropped it a few times. Apart from the paint that has scratched a bit, it has held up fine.

      • Thats true but the surround around the glass is very thin about 1mm and the dam leather look case i bought off ebay did nothing to protect it.

Dropped my g526 on corner, no screen break, but very visible abrasion to the plastic casing edge.

    • +1 have abused g526 and is still OK

  • Can someone advise on the capability of this dual sim (or any other dual sim brand for that matter…)

I want to have the option to have one sim always active to recieve calls/texts, and the second sim to have the option to be intermittently diverted to a third number. Is this easily doable?

    • I think Samsung's Galaxy Mega 5.8 may be able to do that. Its manual should be online for details.

There are different types, depends on the model.

My brother has Zenfone 5 dual sim. He is happy with the dual sim voice part BUT he does have an issue.

When he is on the phone (voice), and using 3G for data + tethering (portable wifi hotspot), the tethering part seems to stop working properly. That's with a Telstra sim being used by the way (Optus sim in standby).

        • Wandered onto the Xperia Z3 Dual in my travels… triple the price, but looks the goods!

Lol, someone's a little itchy on the neg trigger…

@Tafe: No matter… + voted it to negate it.
Nothing wrong with getting an Z3. Zenfone is great value for money, but it is perfectly fine to get an high end phone.

        • @netsurfer:

Hahah thanks - I might still tap into my ozbargain spirit and wait for a price drop though :)

    • Go into a phone shop with two sim cards and test it!

Also please be aware that a new zenfone (funny enough named zenfone 2) will be released in march with higher specs for around the 200 mark.

    • Looks good i will pick one up when im in the Philippines one trip.

    • Smaller screen size, maybe?

      • It has a 5.5" display

Zenfone comes with different CPU and rams. So keep an eye on them when comparing prices. There is the 2.0ghz and 2gb ram versions, and then there is the 1.6ghz and 1gb version . Then there is the snapdragon 400 4G version for Zenfone 5s.

So make sure you are comparing the right models/prices.

Btw, Zenfone 2 is supposed to be even better at similar price point. The 250 that Kogan is selling this for, is pretty much on par with DWIs prices for quite a while. Not much of a saving for grey imports.

    • ZenFone 5's 2 GB RAM seems odd: You can press a button to expand memory (maybe more than once?) not always effective (or have we installed "too many" apps?)

    • 4G or Dual-SIM… pick One.

      • +1

Xperia Z3 Dual has both (?)

        • Different price-class, maybe?

    • The non-Intel ZenFone 5 has SnapDragon 400 (Quad-Core). Its speed is impressive.

  • Just ordered one zenfone 6 yesterday and pretty good price the a dual Sim handset with large screen

  • The bezels on that Asus Zenfone… my god it hurts

  • This is for the Victorians

Why not $265 for a Xperia T2 picked up?

    http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/knoxfield/mobile-phones/sony-…

Delivery for interstate guys is $18, but I thought since we talking ~250 mark for a 6" dual sim card phone?

I've been umming and arring about this, I want to take voice and sms with one sim and use other just for data.

I had the 4G version Xperia t2 (bought it thinking it was the dual sim version) Doh! It wasn't too bad, battery life was good, can't comment much else on it as i never used it for that long.

Anyone care used the xperia T2 dual sim care to comment?

    • Just been sold, and the guy just made 45 bucks.

  • just reminder: Hellstra may shut down the 2G network starting Nov 2016 and turn it to a part of a 4G (4GNext given their marketing) network.
Opstus and VodaFXXX has yet to confirm such redeployment but if either one of them does do it, large number of Dual Sim devices will stop working… or one may have to switch to a new sim.

However we expet 4G 3G dual sim phones by end of 2015

Many better devices ahead with the incoming snapdragon.
