15-30% off Small Appliances at David Jones

30

Was looking for a new four slice toaster and settled on one of the nice Breville models. Was wandering through DJ's and noticed they had a sale on which put these well below any of the competitors including online. Example is BTA730 which I ended up buying for $101 compared to retail of $119 offered by pretty much everyone else. The other models had similar good discounts. Their web site doesn't indicate when the sale started and ends.

  • As an aside, I chose this particular model toaster because it has two long slots which can hold four normal slices or two long slices vs the other models which have four short slots.

  • the last time i bought from David Jones Online they cancelled my order then offered store credit… ridiculous…

I guess if you buy instore you wont have this problem.

    • That's horse crap… Refunds are almost in the same way as payment. For them to suggest otherwise is outright ridiculous.

      • iconic did something similar. used my store credit to purchase item. Item was out of stock… was offered a 20% off voucher with minimum spend….

        • Wait what?!
Did you buy something with your money, your ordered got cancelled so instead of refund you got a store credit? And you accepted it and you used it to buy something else, that also got cancelled and instead of even giving you a credit you got a % off voucher instead?

Or was it that you bought something and they gave you store credit which you used on something that is also out of stock and you got your credit again and on top of that they gave you % off?

        • @blahman:

No I had a $250 Iconic gift voucher (from ING promo)

I bought an item which was $20 and it was out of stock.

So they cancelled the item and then gave me a 20% off voucher with minimum $30 spend.

so they DIDNT give me any store credit back.. just a 20% off voucher… which is forcing me to spend more and my item was even worth…on top of that postage will be $10

In my opinion they should give me $20 store credit with free shipping. Or at least $20 with no minimum spend…

          @edwinlin88:
Under ACCC rules you could've run them out of town with a refund like that. I certainly wouldn't have just accepted it

        • @Spackbace:
I didn't. I complained and they ended up giving me $20 store credit.

but I still can't buy a $20 item because I have to pay for postage…
Whereas my intial order was over $50 so was free postage..

i cant be bothered dealing with them anymore. they sell crap stuff anyway.

        • @Spackbace: exactly my thoughts. That's disgusting of DJs and iconic to do that to their customers

        • @t25: in the end DJs refunded my Paypal. after calling up three tiems and speaking with like 3 different people

to be honest i think it was the person I initially spoke to on the phone didn't know how to do that so offered a store credit…

        • @edwinlin88:

The 20% off voucher offer was disgusting.
But the store credit in the end is reasonable though as they can't sell you what they don't have and are not obligated to give you free shipping when they eventually have it in stock.

Your initial order was not charged for shipping right? Otherwise it would be dirty.

        • @edwinlin88: I don't think so. I know a couple of people that work at customer service instore. The staff are more than capable. This system is just crap at DJs.

  • Excludes anything good?

  • That toaster is available for $99.50 here: http://www.stancash.com.au/breville-the-lift-and-looktm-pro-…

Free pickup in Vic, or you could have just got DJs to price match them.

  • Anything Breville is a great buy!

    • Their low end coffee grinders are worth a big swerve

    • Looking to get the milk cafe. Not sure it is justified for making only hot chocs since no one drinks cafe style coffee at my place

    • I have a toaster, sandwich press, jaffle press and quad blade food processor. All have worked flawlessly for two years.

      • I have a Breville nespresso which is good.
Previously had 2 breville jugs that didn't make it through their warranty period and 2 breville electric blankets which also died rather quick.

    • Their retro jaffle maker is awesome! http://www.breville.com.au/the-original-74tm.html

      • I have the Original Four Slice BTS400. Cheaper, more slices, modern conveniences (good cutting result, deep pockets). It's the OzBargain pick.

        • +1

I never make more than two jaffles at a time and the retro model has 3 years warranty rather than 1. Also stainless steel exterior. I indulged :)

  • So what about the 15-30% of Small Appliances at David Jones? :P
