Nintendo NEW 3DS coverplate No 11 (Wood) was only $17 at JB Hi-Fi. These normally go for around $40 with the cheapest price I have seen so far being $39 at Target.
I am not sure if it is a mistake though as the staff seemed surprised. Good luck to anyone who can get it for the same price as I have uploaded a receipt.

I can understand a nintendo character, but wood? No chance at any price for plastic wood for me..

My crystal ball says Nintendo will release a New 3DS XL v2 late this year which will also support face plates.

It's the same unit, just with face plates. Definitely no increase in resolution.
Nintendo is doing the once a year refresh. New 3DS has face plates, 3DS XL doesn't because they were saving it for the next refresh.
