BD-R media has a long way to go before becoming as reliable as DVD-Rs; these might be cheap but they're probably the BD-R equivalent of the infamous CMC Mag DVD-Rs.
I want Costco to open in Perth WA
Love living in WA, but we miss so many bargains
Yeah I agree, great price but no Costco :(
Is this from the CBD based or Ringwood based Costco store? Tempting price - recently bought a spindle of bd-r for work and paid $50 for 50 discs (which I thought was cheap! - now, not so much )
I was in Docklands store.
Great price. Anyone knows the media code for these (which company actually made the discs)?
I'm not sure what is media code?
But it says made in India on the package.
No idea and Googling revealed no reviews of this media. Maxwell made cheap and nasty DVD-Rs back in the day (CMC Mags or known bad media IDs), so I wouldn't be surprised if the same applies here, especially at this price.
The general rule is stick to Verbatim. They've been one of the few consistently reliable recordable media companies and are a subsidiary of Mitsibishi Chemical Corps (MCC) which was up there with Taiyo-Yuden media back in the day. I can vouch for Verbatim BD-Rs personally.
I never had issues with Maxell media CDs and DVDs. I haven't tried thier BDRs yet but they're a reputable company. They've been around since at least the 80s. I used to use their blank cassette tapes from the day. Thanks OP, I'm grabbing me a spindle.
It all comes down to where they were manufactured would be interesting to know the media id. Does anyone remember princo cd-r media years ago they were so hit and miss?
Which is why I would steer clear of these. Mada in India is usually the hallmark of bad media. Taiwan, Singapore, Japan is what you want.
Same here, will drop by tomorrow and pick a couple up, thanks OP
Holy crap Maxell still exists? Or has some other company purchased the name?
Cheap. I remember when DVD-R hit this price point years ago.
