  • Just put an order thru for two pick up in Strathpine QLD.
    Thanks OP!

  • Just ordered 2 for click & collect @ Milton B'bane. All went OK

    • might see you there.

  • Just ordered one to be delivered, my local didn't appear to have stock and I am too lazy to drive out of my way for $6, lets see if it ships.

  • wtf is with their website?!
    http://tinypic.com/r/25ahkj8/8

  • i rung them today, after ordering yesterday.

some bullshit about product being deleted, blah blah, refund over the phone.

    • Will be interesting to see if this is consistent.

It's still listed on the website:
      http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/tenda-g1005d-…

      Deliver to Door
      Dispatched in 8-16 business days

      Click & Collect
      Collect in 8-16 business days

      • We have seen many OW clearance deals before and clearance items are usually very limited in number. It seems hundreds of these have been ordered, I'd be surprised if they were all honoured. I hope their refund process is efficient.

      • I've complained to Officeworks on prior occasions when their website differed from their real stock levels. I've even stood in-store with a staff member comparing their website with their internal system stock level. The website is notoriously bad for this.

They tried to blame the "new" website, but that was months ago and it still happens. A whole week after I complained about what I considered "bait pricing" on the website, and after no correction had been made, I complained to NSW Fair Trading. Two days later that particular item had been corrected.

It appears as though they're just interested in getting people invested in buying from them. "Oh but Sir for just $10 more you can buy this one instead."

        • Yeah in that case I'd just ask for a refund, but I'll give them at least the 8 days before I call. Not really a big deal unless I'm approaching my credit card limit.

  • +1

I was just called by office works and refunded - no stock left.

    • Guess I'm expecting that too, but you never know ;)

  • this would be 4 port (usable) technically as the 5 one would be WAN right?

    • +2

No, that would be a router, this is a switch.

      • I think what he means is if one port has the net coming in from his modem/router then there are 4 ports left for local devices. I only have 7 ports 'available' on my 8 port switch as the first one is connected upstream.

  • +1

Ordered one, made the switch. Thanks OP.

  • Officeworks called by up today for a refund as the product is discontinued… Oh well.

  • Lol I best ring them I think. Only just noticed the phone number in my transaction is an old one.

  • Perhaps they should remove the item from their website then. I was able to order one just now.

  • no response after my first email after purchasing yesterday. im expecting this to be cancelled

  • I got a tax invoice that came through today for my order placed 2 days ago… is it coming?

  • Im guessing officeworks must have heaps in stock at a warehouse as it says 8-16 days for delivery instead of the usual 1-2 days, only time will tell.

  • +2

Yeah so broke down and rang them and unsurprisingly they have to refund. But that's not what I'm annoyed about. What I'm annoyed about is that the lady I spoke to said she had to send an email to their supplier (or internal, not sure) to stop the order and then they would ring me back tomorrow to get my credit card details for a refund.

    So
    1) Stock levels not displayed correctly on their website for days.
    2) Can't immediately cancel an order. They have to ring me back the next day.
    3) Can't keep my credit card details long enough to issue the cancellation.

I'll still get my money back but having to chase it up is just an irritation that makes me want never to buy online through them again. Definitely easier to just walk in and buy in store. Easier still is to deal with someone online that knows how to fulfill an order. Gee I wonder why Aussie retailers are struggling.

  • out of stock.

  • it's gone from the officeworks web site so i've marked it as expired

  • I just got a refund?

    Ordered on the 3rd

My order has been removed from my account as well

I just called officeworks they don't have stock, they "called" me and left a message.

    revoked vote

  • I just got a letter in the mail and it looks like my invoice. No item though

    • when did you order

      • 03DEC14. Invoice dated 05DEC2014 and it;s just for shipping charges. Says item will be sent and invoiced seperately.

    • I had tge same after a week or so, 3 weeks later and that letter is the only thing I have received.

I see others have had their orders cancelled and refunded, I have had no contact at all. My order shows up as partially dispatched. I will contact them nowthat I know others have had orders cancelled.

      • Yeah I called up and they said they won't be fulfilling it. I asked if you were ever intending to refund me, what if I didn't call? Said, well this order would just stay as it is and we would keep the money. They refunded me, but looks only like the unit price, not the shipping. Have to call the 'tards again….

        • I had mine set to pick up from my nearest store. I didn't want to pay for shipping and they don't charge you for pickup. They are open until 9pm on weeknights So they are wasy enough to get to.

Got a msg on my phone, order canceled and I have to call them to get a refund. WTF?

  • +1

Just recieved a call from Officeworks and order has been cancelled as the item has been discontinued..What a joke advertise an item on special and then tell you they are discontinued a week later…They kindly offered a product which was more expensive. No offer of a credit voucher…I will be writing to letter to head office and threaten to lodge a complaint for false advertising

  • +1

Just got a call saying the order is cancelled :(

  • GOt a call saying the order is cancelled. NEG from me.

  • +2

same here, got a call from Officeworks saying they cannot fulfil this order and will refund it. No negative to OP, Officeworks is entirely to blame here.. This is not a big deal of course, but still pretty dodgy behaviour from Officeworks

  • just received a refund email from paypal.

  • +2

I got the refund call also, and was offered a "Similar but better product" for $29.97. I politely declined. Bait and switch.

  • So I realise this isn't entirely on topic, but I've been thinking about buying a HP ProCurve switch instead. They come with a limited lifetime warranty and have the option of "advance replacement", where you can get a replacement sent before you send the faulty one back. Current best prices around are about $50 for an 8-port V1410-8G and $100 for a 16-port V1410-16G.

    Any opinions?

  • Officeworks stings again. Shame on me again.
So looking at alternatives in VIC, PCDIY has TP-link switches: 5-port for $16.10 and 8-port for $22 online only (delivery for me was ~$9). In store at PCDIY 5-port for $18 and 8-port for $25, which is worse than CPL/MSY 5-port for $18 and 8-port for $24 pickup.
    Anyone found cheaper?

  • +2

Got the call from Officeworks saying they cannot fulfil this order and will refund it. Where can I neg Officeworks and not OP ;)

  • +1

Add one more to the list - Got a call today too to say they are out of stock and that refund is all they can offer…

  • +1

Got the call too. What a shame.

  • +2

Got an email, no attempt at making a call. Pathetic customer relations from Officeworks. It is now on me to chase them up to get my money back! Officeworks should honour the deal and offer an alternative switch at their expense. I'll see if I can string them along for a bit, I'm not so worried about it as it is only $15 but you get the feeling that even if that amount had some 0's on the end, they would treat you the same way.

  • I ordered, confirmation received, and now today OW are telephoning customers saying that their supplier has no stock to supply them with and they are processing refunds for customers who purchased. Must quote credit card details by phone for them to process the refund. This is an uncomfortable process, and has been a waste of time.

  • Received refund email from paypal also, rubbish service from Officeworks.

  • I might just request refund via Paypal and skip OW all together.

  • +1

After asking, Officeworks agreed to sell me another switch for the same price. In my email response to their original "no stock, order can't be filled" I linked them a number of other switches from their store and stated I would be happy to receive any of those for the same money. They agreed to the cheaper d-link, and whilst I am not a d-link fan (I think their web interfaces are atrocious), as this is an unmanaged device I don't really care. http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/d-link-5-port…

The price on this is less than what the Tenda was so the deal is not as good, but I feel like I have had a win as I did actually need a gigabit switch :)

Oddly though, they still needed to refund me the original purchase then charge me again all in the same phone call.

    • You're luckier than I.
I tried to get them to switch the order to the D-Link, but knocked back.

Cancelled today and refunded to Paypal.

  • Just had Officeworks call to let me know they cannot fulfill my order due to insufficient stock (10 days after I got the confirmation email).
    Ridiculous really…

  • I still haven't heard anything from them other than the confirmation email. I think I'll just start the paypal charge back without them.

    • +1

Me too. It says 4-12 business days on the attached invoice, so I'll give them till next Wednesday…

  • +2

My order "went through" on the 4 jan and they took money out of paypal
hadnt heard anything so rang today and was told discontinued and I wont be getting it.
ASked why no one had contacted me yet and they did an immediate refund to my Palpal account.

    Pretty poor effort officeworks

    • same here +1

    • Same. I went in store last week and they couldn't find the order on the shelf so told me to come back this week after the orders were delivered.
I've been waiting 18 days for this and found out today they don't have stock, order placed within minutes of OP. They offered me the 8 port Tenda model for an $8 discount, cheap bastards, I took a full refund instead. Pretty pissed off with Officeworks now… would be inclined to call them Doesntwork.

  • after 2 weeks' waiting without any email, OfficeWorks cancelled my order today and refunded it.

    not happy…

  • Officeworks called me today, explained they couldn;t fulfill the order so they wanted to refund it. They called from a private number and wanted my CC details, so i got them to email me and called them back. Given MSY sells an 8 port 10/100 switch for $11 i'm not that upset.

    • It's not gigabit though.

  • +2

I didn't actually receive a call or any other form of communication from Officeworks. I rang today to find out where my two switches were, only to be told that they were out of stock and couldn't provide them. They refunded my PayPal straight away (apparently - I haven't checked yet).

    Poor form Officeworks. Poor form.

  • 3 weeks gone, still no update from OW.

  • I ended up calling Officeworks to check on order status. Got through in about 5 minutes and refunded without any problems.

  • Let's face it …. if you have not received the delivery or collected in store …. you are NOT getting it!

I had to lodge a claim via Paypal and Officeworks didn't bother to respond. Very very poor!!

  • I didnt have to say much to leverage a netgear out of them instead at no additional cost.

  • +1

Rang office, refund and apologies why they hadn't bothered to do it and contact me. Not good

  • I haven't heard a thing from them, have to chase them tomorrow.

    • I visited my local office works and asked them to chase up my order. The staff member told me they can't even look into the order as it is something processed outside of the store.

I rang the office works hotline and was told someone had tried to contact me a few weeks ago but I didn't answer. They gave me an option to purchase a netgear 5-port switch for around $50 each or receive a refund.
      I chose a refund.
