Nutri Ninja Slim 700W Blender $79 at Coles Brimbank (VIC)

70

Not sure if this should be posted as a deal or in the forums. Please move as required.

Spotted this at Coles Brimbank (VIC) this evening. This Coles is one of them larger super-Coles stores that include more items than just your typical groceries, including appliances, bedding and clothing. Not sure if the Nutri Ninja Slim is available at other Coles stores.

I think this would be a great alternative to the Nutribullet, both 600W and 900W varieties, as this unit claims to have a 700W motor and smaller cup sizes (470ml vs 532ml/710ml).

I can't find specs of this model on the Ninja site, so I've taken them from here ($89, but out of stock).

What was the best before date? ie. Can I use these for Christmas this year without feeling guilty?

    • Unfortunately not. They have a best before date of 29 March 2015.

      • christmas has come early.

  • Bought one myself yesterday too. :)

  • This is advertised in the current catalogue (for QLD at least), so I'm guessing it is available in most locations.

    • Thanks, you may be right as it's in the VIC catalog as well. I had not read this week's catalog, and don't recall seeing the Nutri Ninja Slim at other (smaller) Coles stores. The "while stocks last" tag didn't help either.

Comparatively speaking, based on specs alone and not performance (I didn't buy one) it may provide a good alternative for those considering the Nutribullet.

  • Main question would be, is this really a bargain and is it good compared to other brands? :)

It's priced between less powerful 250W-300W blenders, such as the Homemaker Drink Bottle Blender (250W, 500ml, $15, Kmart), the George Foreman Mix and Go 600ml Blender (300W, 600ml, $28, TGG) and the Sunbeam Stainless To Go Blender (300W, 600ml, $44, TGG), and would be more comparable to the Nutribullet (600W ~$130, 900W ~$250, eBay).

I used to use one of the (Big W branded) Abode $30 300W bullet blenders, and it would do a good job of blending and chopping foods, however stuff like spinach would sometimes not get annihilated but end up wrapped around the blades. Something like the Nutri Ninja Slim should do a better job due to its 700w motor, but each unit's blades and overall design would impact their performance.

Unfortunately I cannot provide direct comparisons as I did not purchase one (bought the Kogan blender recently instead).

One of the selling points of the Nutribullet is its size, where some people would travel with it. I believe this is smaller than the Nutribullet, making it even more travel-friendly.

I bought the Nutri Ninja Slim a few days ago, for $89 at Woolworths. So far I'm pleased with it, it feels like a well made machine.

I already own a Cuisinart, which is great too, but was hoping a more powerful blender would do a better job on spinach and raspberry seeds. The Nutri Ninja Slim does pulverise both of those slightly better than the Cuisinart, but there are still a few (less though) tiny bits left. The Ninja is a smaller machine so it takes up less storage space.

Before this I owned the Kogan personal blender, which had to be replaced three times under warranty. After the third time I decided to buy a better blender, hence the Cuisinart. The Kogan blender did a good enough job though, and for me it was worth buying just to see if I'd get use out of a personal blender. Turns out I do, at least once a day.

Does it unlock the nutrients at the cellular level? :P

  • Interested to see the difference in performance to the Nutri Ninja (not slim). 1000W (vs 700W) and a few different sized cups but that's $249 (vs $79)…

    • That's if it's the same brand even… As not mention of the 'slim' on the ninja website.

      • Looking for an equivalent model, I came across model QB3000 (Nutri Ninja® 2-in-1) which appears to have the same motor, the same looking base and bottles, but has an additional food processing bowl.

It could be this one has been "slimmed" down to be a direct competitor to the NutriBullet.

Pick up the last unit at Northcote Plaza. Ivanhoe still has 5 units available. I've used the unit a couple times & it's much better than the Nutribullet 600w version (my mother has it). With the extra 100w & slightly smaller drink bottles makes a significant difference to the cyclonic action to mulch the veggies & fruits. The build quality is on par or even slightly better than the Nutribullet as well. I highly recommend if you want to pick up a bargain; the special ends this Tuesday, 6th. :-)

    • I went back to buy one yesterday but they were nowhere to be found! Not sure if Brodened or moved elsewhere (Back to School items were in its place), but scoured the store just in case without success.

Fortunately found one at another nearby Coles.

      • Which Coles?
