Sennheiser Momentum (on Ear Version) $98 @ Harvey Norman

180

So I spent yesterday running around trying to grab a set of Sennheiser Momentums from dick smith when they were on sale for $99.98, and of course today just surfing the net found that Harvey Norman have them on sale for $98 :( Plus they seem to have a wider range of colours available than dickies. Would've bought the two-tone ivory but since dickies sold out in that colour I bought blue.

I've got a whole heap of in-ear buds which I can't wear for too long - hurts my ear after a while. I have a great set of audiophile over-ear headphones but they're too big and chunky to take out on the road. These are a decent set of mid-range on-ear headphones but most shops won't have them available for you to try on (though some jb hifi stores have them on demo). Comes with 2 cords, one for apple products and one without any controls.

Other retailers sell this from $199-$299. Dickies is back to $299 today. There's also the over-ear version which is around $100 more. After a few hours of listening to these headphones, pretty happy with them for the price.

  • Shame you weren't looking for the 'Sennheiser Laidback'
Would have saved yourself all that running around.

  • If you can't make it to HN, $1 more at JB… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176243

  • Ah damn when this senheiser sale will finish. ….

  • Bought this from Dick Smith for $85.93 (they have their NYE sale on at the moment and must have forgotten to jack up the price from 99.98 to 297 again when I ordered). :D

    • I checked around 7:30am today and they were all at 297 as now.

lol that's because I placed my order at 1:15AM last night. :P

They must have been in the process of jacking up prices when I caught them with their pants down ahahahaha

        • I got them for 79.98, picked up from a store :D

        • @regenade:

Good stuff! There was no stock near me and I figured the petrol driving to the nearest store would cost more than the shipping.

        • @regenade: Crazy price :) Good job!

  • Should I wait for the bose qc25 price drop out or get this descent headphone?
I meant I can afford around $200 headphone.

I actually wanted the qc25 but hard to justify the price, the main advantage is the noise cancelling and I'm not taking many long flights anytime soon. But if you can find a good deal on the qc25, post it on ozb!

You should be buying for different reasons. Qc25 for its noise canceling features (eg if you fly a lot they are outstanding). If you want pure (and better) sound - then go headphones.

It really depends on what you want to do with the headphone/earphone.

If you are going to listen to it indoors and indoors only, open headphones like Sennheiser HD598 would be decent (I just bought HD598 up because I remember seeing a deal on Amazon @ $100 USD during Black Friday).

If not then you have to think about other things like portability etc etc. Can you sacrifice some performance for portability? If so then how much? Do you require noise cancelling? Waterproof? Some people really hate in-ear… The list goes on from there.

Also even if you think, I wanna get a headphone, then you'd have to think, what is "decent"? Sennheiser Momentum Over Ear gets decent reviews, but it is not a flat headphone. Is that a bad thing or a good thing? That depends on what your preference is.

All I wanted to say was try them before buying them and don't buy things solely on reviews unless you are willing to risk receiving something not to your taste. Not saying that these are bad cans, just saying that preferences play a big role.

That being said, the deal is very decent.
