Hi Guys.
I just bought these cables from the above store. The cheapest optical and hdmi cable I have ever seen in view of established brand, gold plated, and 2-3 meter long.
Tag still shows $60 but the cashier scans $15 each
Not sure if online has similar prices.
Myer Highpoint VIC - Belkin Pro2000 Optical (3m) and HDMI (2m) Cable - $15 EACH (was $129)

I know there are a lot of cheap cables on ebay. But I dont know if they are as good as these cables(?). Perhaps someone expert in electrical could give some opinion…
Don't buy the really cheap ones from ebay, they will work, but they might use solid core wires that easily breaks during use/movement.
Head to MSY or similar and get one there.
But I dont know if they are as good as these cables(?).
They'll probably break easier than these Belkins, but aside from that; they work. End of story.
I've bought about six, $2-3 dollar HDMI cables from Ebay. Careless bumping/disconnection broke two.
No need to neg Amar89's reply. He is right. $15.00 is what the normal price should be (Belkin, Monster etc). The sleeves are usually better in these brands, but not always.
If you are in Vic. (for pick up in store-saving in shipping costs), look at Selby's in Hallam, good products at good prices (brand names and not), most if not all of their stock is of good quality.
I've been buying from them for years, and have been recommending them to friends and family, and they've all been over the moon with their purchases,a nd the amount of money they've saved in comparison to buying from JB,HN, DSE, Myer etc.
In fact they should really pay me for the business i've sent to them, or at least a Xmas card!
got an optical cable from eBay for around $2 delivered and it's performing very well.
Logical, any recommended seller or product?
with optical you can't go wrong, search on eBay for the length you need and then sort for the cheapest. I got the cheapest there was in the length I needed. came from china in a couple of weeks.
Thanks Logical for both comments! Will order one from eBay tonight :)
Looking for one with the new TV (thanks to Ozbargin) :)
Nookie how many left after your purchase?
Thanks.
Still many. The cashier said it should be yhe same price in other Myer stores.
"Still many" because the $5 ebay HDMI cables (and that's from Jamell Cables, not unknown sellers) does the job equally well…
Thanks Nookie.
Ozscharfschutze, I guess I might wait a bit for another HDMI cable deal. Thanks.
still $60 at onlinehttp://m.myer.com.au/shop/mobile/mystore/MobileProductDisplay?storeId=10251&productId=199488&urlRequestType=Base&langId=&catalogId=10051
$15 for a hdmi cable is considered a bargain?
Haha okay here's some explanation to myth bust gold plated cables.
1) Optical cable doesn't rely on a good conducted plug. They are simply fiber optic which can be plastic and the signal will be still 1:1. A solid casing will prolong the use.
2) HDMI cable will benefit from a good conducted connector but it's very minor. There are many versions of the cable. HDMI 1.4a and above supports high speed transfer that includes 3D and Internet. I'd pay attention to the width of the core which is measured by AWG. The smaller the number the thicker is the core. I.e. 12AWG is thicker than a 18AWG.
Never ever get sucked in by gold plated star burst on the packaging.
Xenoic, does thicker core equals to better performance?
thicker core for longer distances is preferred eg 10-15m. the thin cables are fine for short runs around 5m or so.
They are digital cables (as opposed to analog) so they will either work or they won't. It makes no difference what materials are used or what the brand name is - you won't get a better (or worse) signal because you paid for a brand name cable made of expensive/fancy materials.
Only this one will make your picture as clear as diamonds:
