  • If i buy south park from amazon, will it be uncensored on my aus steam account?

    • It very well should be. I've purchased a few games that have been censored here and I have received the ROW NA version but be wary. I'm not sure if this is confirmed but last week a user here purchased a game and they ended up getting the censored version even though it stated it was a RoW NA version. Do so at your own risk but chances are you will be completely safe.

      • Yup. I was one of those people. . I ended up buying saints row 4 twice. First time without VPN. And seconding buying with VPN and activating the game with VPN. Both gave me censored au version even though in the steam invoice it clearly says NA ROW

        • That's worrying and really disappointing.

  • Tried to buy southpark on amazon but i get cannot be activated in your country from steam :(

Edit: Used a free VPN to activate - whihc is against steams terms but hey buying from the UK to AUS should be allowed. Region locking sucks

Yep, Valve has recently implemented region locking in Steam. So be aware before you buy from other regions guys.

      • actually region locking has existed for a very very long time. The recent region locking is for gifts so that people cannot buy game as gifts and sell them to other countries.

Steam had 3 regions locking which still being enforced now. Russia, Asia and global. Global key as we all know works worldwide. Russia key for Russia only and Asia keys for Asia only. Keys from Asia or Russia will not work in other region.

    • I think using a VPN to activate on steam / get past geo locking is the grey area. I know it's against their ToS but I've never seen any report of someone being banned by using it to activate or get past geo locking. I know you will definitely get banned if you use a VPN to get cheaper prices on steam though.

Warning to all. If you buy SouthPark from Amazon you will need vpn to activate. It also seems like if you download using australia up you will get the censored version also. Just purchase the low violence version and download the uncensored patch online. Save a lot of hassle.

  • South Park works out to be about $14 US from Amazon UK.

    • So if I buy the game from Amazon UK, then use a VPN to activate on Steam it should work? Would I also need to use a VPN every time I play the game? Never used a VPN with Steam before, only used a VPN like Hola to buy games. Thanks.

      • Only need to use a VPN when activating, though doing so is against Steam Subscriber Agreement so proceed at your own risk.

    • yep thats where i bought it, had to use VPN and then i downloaded the uncensored patch. Been playing for 3 hours is working fine.
