Canesten Hygiene Laundry Rinse

Break the cycle of cross-contamination and re-infection with Canesten Hygiene Rinse by adding it to your wash. People suffering from bacterial or fungal infections may deposit large quantities of bacteria or fungal spores in shared laundry. Such items include towels, bed linen and personal items, like socks and underwear.

Normal washing, especially at cold temperatures, may not completely remove the bacteria or fungal spores. This often leads to the bacteria and fungal spores being passed on to other garments, and ultimately re-infection or cross infection.

Canesten Hygiene Rinse can break the cycle of re-infection and cross infection by helping to eliminate fungal spores that can remain in your clean washing increasing the risk of re-infection. Canesten Hygiene Rinse leaves laundry hygienically clean to help to keep families healthy and can be used in cold or hot wash.

Available in 1 L bottles at supermarkets.

I have nothing against a free sample but the product description is highly misleading. Fungal infections are over growths of organisms that are always present on the skin of all of us all the time. The scaremongering about reinfection is just marketing tripe. We should not be hosing antibiotics and anti fungals into the environment. I would be very surprised if this product made any real world difference compared to normal warm machine washing followed by adequate drying. Am I being too optimistic expecting truth in advertising? Probably.

  • I have been looking for a product like this as we only have cold water wash with our laundry. Guess there is no real way to tell if this stuff us effective but worth the piece of mind.

  • I warm wash everything. I always use this for my towels and needing or the bissitos eucalyptus. I don't know why I do it, but it's piece of mind I guess.

    • Yes, Bosisto's eucalyptus is good too http://fgb.com.au/about-bosistos

What! Only for your towels? Not for your nickers? And you don't really know why you are using it!

Obviously you haven't made the connection … Canestan is a brand mostly associated with the treatment of vaginal thrush. It's in relation to this that you are meant to be breaking the "cycle of cross-contamination and re-infection".

However, it's not the spreading of these "bugs" which is the problem. They are naturally maintained in balance in a healthy human body. The real problem is keeping this balance from being disturbed, for example by hormonal changes. This product will neither address the underlying causes of such imbalances nor treat the resulting symptoms. Neither will it protect you from the countless spores of yeast and other funguses which adhere to your washing every time you hang it to dry.

This product will only help in reducing the anxiety that the manufacturer has deceitfully crafted in your psyche.

      Don't be duped Ozbargainers.

      • Thrush aside (no problems there), might help reduce the bacteria making towels or gym gear stinky. I usually soak stinky ones separately before washing.
