Kogan 1400W Vitablast Blender $69 Delivered

740

PRODUCT RECALLED - SEE THIS FORUM TOPIC:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/179358

Originally posted on Whirlpool.

Was advertised $129 delivered two days ago, despite the page saying it "Was $99" (which it was prior).

If you have purchased it within the last 14 days, you may be able to get a credit of the difference through Kogan's Price Drop Guarantee.

Read the Whirlpool thread for user reviews of the unit, from which I can tell all have been positive.

EDIT: Warranty can be added during purchase — 3 years total for $12, 5 years total for $15 — however to save a couple of dollars you may skip this, as Kogan may send an email post-order offering ~15% off a warranty upgrade.

EDIT 2: Kogan's eBay item has had its price lowered in line with their web site, now $70.38 delivered. Looking at its past sales, someone unfortunately bit the bullet at almost double the price. An alternative for those who prefer to buy through eBay, however you may not have the option for Kogan's Price Drop Guarantee on items from their eBay store, and (from what I could tell) there is no option for extended warranty through the eBay checkout process.

EDIT 3: Price has jumped back to $99, however it's still $70.38 delivered on eBay. Read the above edit for more info about the eBay item.

        • @StickyStickers: Near Northland. PM me if you need details, cheers.

  • I've never had a high grade blender before but I am pretty impressed so far. Certainly seems like a good buy.

  • Anyone got broken blades yet discussed on Whirlpool ?
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2345282&p…

    • Ive used my machine 20odd times and no dramas yet but have been keeping a close eye on whirlpool and have just sent off message to kogan

      • have you been using ice in yours as well?

        • yup,, heavy ice purchased from servo's in big stuck together chuncks lol,,, and frozen fruit

        • has yours broken ?

        • mines only got as far as getting unpacked and being put into the cupboard, not so much as even been plugged in yet. tho i very much doubt ill ever put ice in mine… going by how many chillis i have growing this year i should have several jars of my home made chilli sauce tho soon :D

i bought it to replace the one i bought from deals direct a couple years ago which was a hunk of shit and only ever used a handful of times before the bearing went on it and even after replacing that it started leaking from the bottom.

        • @nosdan:

          chilli sauce,,brilliant idea

Mines great but unlike others on whirlpool my blades are covered with liquid/juice, fruit then ice on top, then blend, the others may have been dumping the ice then liquids followed by slow blending,,I've only been using the pulse button so far..

I wont be returning my machine even if the blades do break, will try and locate some aldi replacements if kogan only offer refund, replacing this blender ( If I cant locate an aldi that stocks the alternative) is upwards of $600—-no thanks

          chilli sauce,,brilliant idea

its sooo good. caus i grow my own jalapenos i let them ripen on the tree so they get almost a sweet taste to them. sooo good

blend them up with some onion and garlic. bit of salt and a pile of good malt vinegar to preserve them and stick it in one of those mocona coffee jars with the plastic lids http://www.miconnational.com.au/pictures/resized/600x600/530… probably best to have already consumed the coffee before adding your chilli sauce…. unless you want an extra kick :)

          did i mention soooo good?

    • just posted this on whirlpool, but here is a comparison between the blades on the three blenders (Kogan, Aldi recalled model, Aldi revised model):

      http://i.imgur.com/kXRdC4I.jpg

it seems quite clear that the kogan blender is using the same blades (at least same blade design) as the recalled faulty aldi blades.

Seems like the Whirlpool boys are complaining about the broken blades and the health hazard that presents. Glad I skipped the Kogan deal as picked up an Aldi one with the new safe blades and default 5 year warranty. $79 on clearance booyaa!

  • Has any one in Perth had their's delivered yet? Mine has been at the Toll depot in Perth since 07.35 Monday (5th) morning. It was originally meant to 'apparently' delivered on the 6th, but obviously nothing happened.

It's still sitting at the depot as "Sorted for Delivery". Even Australia post is faster than this!

Got the following email today for anyone who is interested:

Kogan takes product quality and safety very seriously, and wishes to advise you of a recall on the following product: Kogan 1400W Vitablast Blender

Defect: In rare circumstances blades may fracture due to an inconsistency in the metal manufacture.

Hazard: Risk of blade ingestion or choking hazard.

What to do: Stop using your blender, and wait to receive a replacement jug with a new and improved blade set. Do not dispose of the lid to the jug.

What Next: We are currently manufacturing replacement jugs which are not affected by this issue. We will ship a replacement jug to you within 5 weeks time of this email. Once we have put your replacement jug in the post to you, we will notify you via email with tracking details.

The Jug: For reference, below is an image of the jug. Please retain the lid, and dispose of the jug.

    • yep got the same email w00t :)

  • thanks, i will use it blend up some fish heads for burley before I dispose of it

    • from what i can tell its only an issue when blending something hard (like ice etc). for soft stuff like fish it should be fine. ill be keeping my "old" jug as well as the new one :)

      • Funny thing is I haven't even had a chance to use it yet. It's stored in the garage because I'm moving house in a couple weeks.

Just happy I haven't been subject too the potential "blade ingestion"… Doesn't sound pleasant.
