  • I followed your link to assess these sheet sets. Why are they not anywhere described as 100% Egyptian Cotton? Apparently you previously sold these for $290 so why are there no reviews whatsoever?

    • Not everyone leaves reviews.

1-2 weeks for shipping is a bit much. Not like you're shipping from china.

The OP's previous deals have all been negged and comments explain that their RRP (in this case $290) is over inflated and these sheets can probably be found cheaper elsewhere.

That being said, a simple google search finds this link and this

Which are roughly the same price OP has stated.

Personally, I don't need sheets. But I'd rather go down to Myer/Harris Scarf and know what I'm purchasing.

Spotlight sale the 1200tc for $59.

    • +1

I have no idea about the sheets in the deal, but those 1200tc Spotlight ones at that price are pure tash.
Thread count has so relation to actual quality of the cotton, it just tells you if there is a lot or little of the quality you're buying. In the Spotlight case, you're buying a lot of cheap nasty crap that we got rid off pretty quickly.

      • From my recent research I discovered that a lot of these budget brands are practicing thread count deception anyway. Thread count is meant to be referred on a per square inch basis (or 2.54 cm squared = 6.45 sq cm). The honest websites will write the square size and often these cheaper sheets are in fact per 25 sq cm, which you guessed it - it's approx. the standard 250 TPI (threads per inch) you can buy anywhere. This might cut it if you got it for the budget 250 TPI price and didn't actually want thicker sheets (say for the summer) but the fact is you can get genuine 400 TPI sheets from reputable manufacturers for the same price on sale which could be of superior quality and thread count.

Bamboo is another potential scam. Rayon chemicals produced from bamboo are often listed as organic, environmentally friendly bamboo alternatives for psychological persuasion (at a higher cost than rayon).

I'm trying to buy sheets now but I'm having a hard time choosing without testing first and I don't want to pay for brand names unnecessarily. I'm at least hoping 100% cotton is always a genuine claim.

Have you tried Target 1000 or 400 TC? The reviews from OzBargain and other places weren't bad (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/70892). I'm thinking to buy their sheets on the next special with my Westfield $33 card for $50.

I use bamboo sheets (yes aware of the rayon scam) and have for nearly two years. I can't stand cotton sheets now after enjoying good bamboo ones. Bamboo sheets do have their own issues, they can pill if you miss treat them when first purchased, take a little more care, not as tight fitting so will bunch a little after a few days. The only thing that affects me is the bunching of the fitted sheets after 3-4 days, requiring a little adjustment to fix. I will never go back to cotton sheets.

This is where I got my my first Bamboo sheets form - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/94370, and a couple of other sets from COTD (Conran brand).

        • @snuke:
Thanks for your experience. Do you find you sweat more with the bamboo sheets? This appeared to be the biggest complaint I read (despite the positive reviews on texture etc).

        • @peterpeterpumpkin:

No, and I run hot. Latex mattress, woollen underlay and then bamboo sheets. At 400TC, they feel far thicker than good 1000TC cotton, so I was concerned, but proper bamboo breaths far better than cotton. You will see a comment in the OzB bamboo sheet link where I say I only wear bamboo socks. This is for that very reason, they don’t heat you up as much, and in the case of socks, if you sweat, you stay dry as the fabric holds the moisture.

  • It should not take this long for a Store Rep who has been a member for a year to answer basic questions. It is inappropriate to declare imperiously where to ask questions. This is OzBargain, and questions appear within the topic itself. Neg from me.

  • PJC - Well, listing never mentioned 100% Egyptian cotton. Its 1000 TC Egyptian cotton Sateen sheets. It comes in set of 4 pcs.
1x Flat Sheet, 1x Fitted Sheet and 2x Pillow cases. They are not Made In China. But they are Made In India.

Its Sateen weaved which is more softer than any other weave and also expensive.

There are no reviews on this product because it has just been listed.

If you need real quick answers please contact at help-desk as mentioned in listing
