Meh never paid more than $12 for these in King when on sale and clearance

No top sheet? What am I? An animal?!

    • +2

      Name checks so yea
      You filthy Animal!

    • Top sheets always try to strangle me in my sleep.

    • I wash my quilt covers so I don't need a top sheet. Understandable if you use blankets instead of doonas, otherwise feels redundant.

    • For an extra $10 you can get the 'sheet set' which is the same thing but with an added flat sheet.
      Sheets With Flat Sheet

  • Only 300TC
1000TC would be ideal for this deal

    • +2

Higher TC simply means denser nothing else, over 1000 is pretty much waterproof and non breathable silky or plasticky raincoat.
I have had 300 500 700 1000 mostly Sheraton all 100% cotton for comfort quality wise I found 700 is the highest if you wanna go a bit silky while 500 is more than enough and better value.

I've seen it said that a high thread count doesn't necessity mean softer sheets. Is that true?

    • Yes

    • +4

      doesn't necessity

Yes it's true. Also thread count ain't thread count. Some companies fudge the number by multiplying the number of threads used in weaving the fabric by the number of individual strands of cotton that are wound together to make each thread.

300 tc in 100% cotton is 100 times better to sleep on than 1000TC of 'cotton rich'. Although ideally the min should be 500TC cotton.

    • What about 1500TC 100% cotton?

      • Yep.. awesome. .. how much though?

      • +1

It feels too smooth and not nice imo. 400tc 100% cotton is the sweet spot for me. I'd still be 500tc for the right price though

need to be 500TC to be a deal
Kmart clearance sales are better than these

    • Yeah but generally aren't they Polyester and Cotton or Cotton Rich? I don't think I have ever seen a 100% Cotton 500TC (or above) fitted sheet cheaper than this?

  • What are Kmart sheets like though? Only ever bought Target clearance linen as they they used to have really nice deep fitted sheets along with great half price bedding sales and awesome clearance specials instore aswell.
I think they’re better at stock estimation or everyone gets there before me.
When Myer had more stores , that was the place , or those sherriden clearance outlets used to be absolutely awesome for top quality at rock bottom prices, but now not so much.

    • The 500TC ones are awesome and get better over time

      • Ok, never even knew Kmart sold sheets.
        I’ll check them out (hesitantly).

  • 300TC in percale weave is plenty heavy enough!!

  • Placed an order, paid with PayPal, got this instead of order confirmation:
"We regret to inform you that your recent purchase from Catch.com.au (Order: C7xxxxxxxx) did not meet our payment verification standards, resulting in your order being cancelled."
OK then… Resubmitted order, same thing happened. sigh

Edit: Installed mobile app and used Apple Pay to pay, and that worked. Weird that they don't like PayPal for some reason…

  • Too warm, humid and hot for anything more than 300-500 thread count.
Unless you sleep and live in air conditioning 24/7 - woo 1000TC
