  • Hi, are they beans or ground coffee?

  • +3

Hi these are whole roasted bean coffee. We can grind the coffee for you but we do not recommend this as 2 kg will last very long in a regular household, and the taste will not be at its best after being ground.

  • Trying to place order on line but my total shows $53

  • Hi

Thats because you chose 4x500 gram coffee in drop down menu. Please do not choose the 4x500 gram option for regular 2x 1 kg bag. The 4x500 gram option will incur additional $3 for the extra bags.

  • Ok got it. So if I choose the 2x1kg bags I can select 2 different varieties?

  • yup
only 2 different varieties available for this deal. Thanks for that. So you can choose 2 yes.

  • Hi Op! How much is 1kg of beans delivered? Thanks

  • Guys we also sell green coffee beans if you roast yourself :D

  • Just one more query if I may? The 4x500g deal for $53 can imply 4 different varieties? Which varieties do you get for the 2 deals?

  • No sorry petrup, only 2 max varieties, so if you choose 4x 500, they 2 varieties will be spread up into the 4 bags so you are getting 2x500 gram bean A and 2x500 gram bean B, thank you. The reason for that is we roast in 1 kg result batch and we cant keep the roasted bean, it will be a waste if we cant sell them. Apology again.

  • 15 orders so far and counting for the last 30 minute roughly, wow thanks guys!! Dont forget to leave your feedback when you get your coffee!

  • Hi, would this coffee be considered "citrusy"?

I love rich chocolate blends but can't stand this wacky citrus trend.

  • Hi
Haha love your term "wacky citrus" We used to say "fruity" instead of acidic or sour.

I know how you feel, everyone pallete is different.
Generally the Africans are more acidic than the brazil and central american.
I recommend you to try our Brazil monte alegre and our Guatemalan (bit tangy fruity but in the sweet goodness)

    • Hmm, that is an interesting idea. I wonder how long it would take and how much you would waste until you "got it right".

      • +1

Well its not really a rocket science as what people initially thought. Generally you will lose 12-18% of the initial green bean weight after roast. For first few attempts there will be some errors and burnt coffee but its not really a great big deal as long as you start small and keep it steady on the same batch. Its just when you start to learn to cook pasta. Eventually u get it right. Its actually a much simpler process than cooking pasta haha. The web has so much information about this matter. Every trial of roast is a mystery. But one thing for sure no matter how you roast them right or wrong what matters is what you taste in the end. If you like it then its perfect. cheers

        • +1

Thanks. I think I will email you on it then.

I notice that a lot of the green bean region pages are empty (eg no Carribean). Are they out, or all roasted?

Hmm, actually, looking at the web site, even for the roasted coffees you aren't showing anything anymore, single origin or blended. The Green Bean pages seem to actually have the most available options. Are you getting out of stock of nearly everything? Or is the website just needing attention?

        • +1

          @Mobe1969:
Yup pretty much like that. We are focusing on fewer fast moving green beans and bulk / account order from cafe.

We are planning to introduce more greens in 2015 tho, so stay tune

  • Ordered and went the Brazil monte alegre and Guatemalan as recommended above. Always good to try another roaster.

    • Thank you so much

  • Hi Ivan,

Can you please recommend me which 2 coffee beans should I choose out of the five types? I normally drink Colombian bean since I like bold flavour and good mouth fill.
I also use pour over or filter as my brewing method, can you do the roasting specific for that?

    Thank you

    • Hello

Try the ethiopians they re good for pour over. Full flavor and fruity. These are roasted in fruity fresh medium. Please check our faqs in our website regarding roast profile thank you

  • +1

I have been making orders from Ivan over the last year. Highly recommend.

    • Thank you for the kind words

  • +1

Just a warning, DO NOT mention the word Cuba in your message to the seller via paypal if wanting the Cuban bean (which I might add is a great flavour for me), unless you want the american paypal cyberfascists blocking your account and reporting you to the American Federal Government for illegal activities.

I kid you not… They were pretending to be representing paypal.com.au but seemed to miss the fact that we were in Australia, and trade with Cuba was legal.

    • +1

Yup as a result we dont sell cuban coffee anymore due to the hassle

      • You don't sell, or don't list? That was a great bag of coffee, the Cuban. I would have actually ordered 2kg of that one this time if it was available! I loved it.

There was another Caribbean one you had listed last time too that I can't find now either.

        • They re sold out and we choose not to include them in out list since we can specify payment method on specific item. I do agree its a superb coffee tho. One of my favourite too maybe later when i can find a way to separate it

        • @sweetyarracoffee:

Well if you get more Cuban beans in, then I'd love to buy some. I might try green and self roasting now. I have had my interest piqued on that now…

You could always obscure the reference to Cuba in the picklist by just listing the variety name or grower. Or just say "That place near Gitmo". LOL

        • +1

          @Mobe1969:
Sure will gladly let you know when they are available. As for other carribean beans. The only one that is appealing is Dominican but we didnt have much interest on that, so we choose to eliminate it and focusing on greens that we use in our blend that we sell to cafes.

        • @sweetyarracoffee:

          Thanks Ivan, I appreciate it.

Given I loved the Cuban which of your green beans (or single origin roasted beans in this offer) would you consider recommended for someone who loved the Cuban?

        • @Mobe1969:
well cuban is silky smooth coffee and its not as intense but its got some dark chocolate sensation. I suggest you try my brazil not the same but share similar smooth characteristic with additional big body

    • +1

      haha Serious?

Based on this and the comments on the Cuban blend ….I really want to order a batch the next time they have stock!!

      • +1

Yes, serious. Here is an excerpt from the first email. Note the US OFAS links, note they'd reported me to OFAC, and the disengenuous note at the bottom the sender was from Paypal Australia PTY LTD…

"PayPal's Compliance Department has reviewed your account and identified

The Cuba-american feud has been around for ages. The self righteous USA thinks they are naughty so uncle sam said, why dont we punish them.

  • +1

Nice to see that you're actually selling 2kg of coffee and not a random smaller amount and blaming the shortfall on postage costs.

    • Thank you

  • I've just bought 2kg recently, but if the coffee is good and you stick around and keep offering deals like this then I will certainly give you a try next time. :) Good luck!

    • hi Will always try to meet your expectation
      Thank you!

  • Ordered Guatemala Huehuetenang SHB and Tanzania Kilimanjaro !!!

Looking forward to trying the beans, always good to try different beans.

    • Thank you, will let you know when they re ready to be posted

  • May I ask which two are suitable for milk base coffee? I use stove-top for my coffee btw… Thank you.

    • Hello
For milk base, I suggest the brazil and indian malabar gold. However we have customers having the Africans with milk, especially Tanzania.

      • Thank you. One more thing, just wondering whether you happen to sell the Vev Vigano Replacement Gasket for the 6 cup stove-top coffee pot? I couldn't find it anywhere, just trying my luck here… cheers…

        • sorry we dont sell coffee machine spares. Try espresso part or ebay

  • Guatemala Huehuetenango is temporarily out of stock now, we will have guatemala antigua los vulcanes as a replacement in a week time. We will update again when it becomes available. As a replacement we have added Indian Malabar gold AA as an option for our current deal. Apology for the inconvenience. We have received overwhelming order but rest assured every order will be treated and dispatched in the most care manner. So as of now 5/12/2014 10:04 PM we can not offer guatemala huehuetenango as an option. Thank you

  • When I attempt to buy this, your site seems to try to add tax of $5.00 as 'GST(VAT)'. So it totals to $55.00!

I assume that something is wrong - it certainly isn't legal to quote a price excluding GST for retail purposes.

I shall hold off completing the order until this is worked out.

    • It should not do that, will check for that. I can invoice you through paypal directly if you want. Sorry for the late reply. been busy with roarting.

It you want you can proceed through the site purchase and if that still persists we can refund the difference

      thanks

      • Many thanks. Ordered (Indian Malabar and Brazilian Monte) for making milk based espresso drinks.

        • +1

got it, sorry for the web thingy its now fixed. Our e commerce platform is not Aussie based so we needed some adjustment and few lengthy conversation with the rep :)

  • @sweetyarracoffee

Which of your coffees would be strongest, darkest, expresso-style ?
I'm looking for something at the full-flavour end of the spectrum, and I find few specialty coffees are there.
I always ask for this with suppliers but usually end up with a recommendation that falls short.

    Thanks

    • +1

i d suggest Tanzania in a bit darker roast for you? I can adjust our toast profile a bit to get into the "other" side, hows that sound?

    • +2

As a side note, just to make sure you answer the following:
      1. How does bittersweetness matter to you? very or not really?
      2. How does flavor matters to you? Do you like full flavour coffee? Fruity? Musty? Woody? Spicy? Or you only like a "regular" coffee flavor?
      3. How does crema matters to you? Do you like to see thick dark redish brown crema in your espresso cup?
      4. Now this is important. Do you mean strong as bitter? Or strong as in caffeine strong? Coffee that gives you a kick?

Remember you cant have everything perfectly in one cup :)

If you like strong aroma, woody nutty spicy flavor with LOTS of crema, go for the Malabar
If you like regular coffee flavor with a touch of bittersweetness and hints of caramel, go for Brazil
If you like more exotic, bit of tanginess and floral aroma but not too overwhelming, but still have good body, go for the Tanzania. Darker roast will eliminate the tanginess a bit but it adds to the punch.
If you like fruity berries, acidic berry juice like coffee, go for the ethiopians and guatemalan. The ethiopians have bit more body I guess…

For espresso my favourite is Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and Guatemala

My personal opinion is that I like coffee that I can taste, a full flavor coffee. I don't like big body coffee for espresso, milk base is good tho. I enjoy my espresso coffee with espresso machine, pour over dripper and cold brew. Nothing beats the humble Yirgacheffe. But thats just me.

A good brazilian for espresso is the Cerrado ouro verde. (Fazenda Ouro Verde) honey process raised bed. Unfortunately its not available yet. I had few bags of em before but now all gone and have to wait for new season. Unbelievably sweet.

      • How about for latte and cappuccino? Just to make sure I picked the right ones for my order…

        • cappucino uses choco powder so you want something not chocolatey for capucino as it will not add significant flavor. I would try sidamo dark roast for it. Also a blend of guatemala and brazil will do good too!

For latte, well, its everyones favourite so any will do i guess haha

      • @sweetyarracoffee
Thank you for the advice. Other people may find this helpful.
Someone will be in contact to order. I understand we have to e-mail separately our preferences.

        • much appreciated

        • @sweetyarracoffee: I left message on the order form as well as on paypal instruction, do I still need send separate email?

        • @maogua:
can you please tell me your order number again, I have mostly everyone covered, but just to be sure

  • Ordered. Good to see a nice deal and fantastic Rep around.

We go through quite a bit of Coffee. If you can setup something, I will order 2kg every 45 days or so.

    • order received and being prepared many thanks for the kind word too. Looking forward to hearing your feedback

      • Cheers, how about answering the 2nd part of my question.

        • Did send you a message privately about regular coffee order, maybe it didnt go through, I just did it again :)

Sweet Yarra is the 'real deal' - runs on a passion for coffee! Look out for the Sweet Yarra coffee van when you are out and about too.

    • Hi Oldtimer! Glad to hear from you again thanks K!

guys sorry for the late comment, been busy roasting for your order. We have a fantastic 60 kg plus order in the last 48 hours. So cant stop working.

So my apology for not able to reply sooner here.

For those who place an order please make sure you re email your coffee preference to [email protected] as apparantly we have a problem with the emailing system (again, sigh…) in out shopio e commerce platform.

    cheers

Any deals on the green beans? Or just the roasted?

I've got myself a new Behmor roaster to use!

    • DrMon - Where did you get the roaster from? All the stockist the supplier link to show the unit as unavailable now, and they don't list a price. Very odd I thought.

      • +1

I got mine from CoffeeSnobs a few months ago. Haven't really got around to using it much yet, only performed a couple of roasts.

Now that I check though, it says they're out of stock too? Must be a shortage on the 'grams' model?

        • +2

People sell them from time to time on ebay or even there on the snob website, just watch the coffee hardware for sale posts.

      • +1

Mobe, you dont need a behmor to roast coffee. You can use a rottiserrie oven from aldi and buy a separate drum from ebay. It is compatible. The catch is that it will take longer to roast and you should keep to 100-125 gram per roast. Unless you can modify the thermostat to 300 degree one…

But price wise, its nothing compared to behmor. A friend of mine, bought a rottiserrie oven for $5 second hand on a market then put a drum cage and voilaa

        • Hmm. Yeah, I was looking at those hand cranked copper ones too. That Coffee Tech FZ-RR 700.

I've seen some videos on the hand roasted stuff done with kitchen appliances (skillet, wok) and honestly the resulting roast (eg from bean color) is very inconsistent.

I love the idea of having the aroma from the coffee cooking, and doing it in small batches so always fresh, but the money I'd need to spend to get a good result (I feel) is a bit much.

  • Ordered. Looking forward to trying beans from somewhere new. Thanks.

    • Thank you!! you are the 48th order :) 96 kilo in 3 days!!

  • +2

Just a note that I thought I'll share with everyone.

I don't do dark dark roast. My darkest roast is dark chocolate roast. Appearance of the beans are bit shiny NEVER OILY.
Guys, avoid oily beans like a plague, seriously, its nothing more than carbonized coffee. Its so wrong to roast coffee till the oil or emulsion sipping out. Others may not agree but thats just me. Also another reason why its not good is that it will make you clean your grinder more often, if you dont clean your grinder, you will get that "stale" taste residue and you next time you buy another coffee, you will say, why this coffee taste like $%^@!

But some people DO love oily beans, very blackish coffee, seriously, that's not my coffee. So if you are looking for the BLACKISH kind of coffee bean, maybe my coffee is not for you.

I am sharing this because I've been asked few times if I can roast dark roast. So usually I ask back, how dark do you want? I care so much with the flavor of my coffee so if you expect a dark blackish charcoalish roast, I cant do that, sorry cus that will just ruin the taste of my coffee.

    Cheers
    Ivan
