  FYI, new versions are now fixed drive format and not removable so might not be usable as bootable usb drives for windows installs etc.

      Basically a fixed drive is an HDD, that is, no driver installation is required. So if a USB shows up in the computer as an HDD, not as a removable drive, it's a fixed drive format.

      SanDisk is beginning production of flash drives configured as fixed disk in 2012 to meet new requirements for Windows 8 Certification

        This is the first time I've heard of such a format for flash drives, so did a quick search found this: http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/All-SanDisk-USB-Flash-Drives/US…

        In the second post, the Sandisk email states that they switched them back to removable disk mode at the end of 2013, so it looks like there's a whole year's worth of these fixed drive sticks floating around. Bizarre :|

  I got one of these from MSY a few months ago.. Very nice USB drives! Very quick. Using Rufus and installing windows 8.1 from these things took just under 3 minutes. :)
