Just sign in to that page using a demo Chromebook in a store :-)

    • Very nice muncan! Can you claim this more than once using different logins on the same unit, or is it one per Chromebook?

    • Just did it at a jbhifi… Great success!

The highly regarded tech website The Verge believes the newly released Toshiba 2 Chromebook is the best Chromebook on the market.

    • I am looking at a Toshiba 2, but am concerned about buying from the US. Would the charger require changing given our different power outputs?

i've got an acer c720, its input voltage is 110-240. I dont think ive ever seen a laptop that doesnt do both voltages.

        • Thanks for the reply. That put my mind at ease. Cheers

I got my i3 Lenovo Thinkpad X220i for $380 locally last year.

Why spend $428 on a chromebook?

    Didnt work for me :(

  • Thanks TA. Good find

  • I tried to redeem but no go.

    It says:

"For new Chromebooks activated after August 1, 2014, you have 180 days to redeem the offers once the first account is created. If the offers are not claimed within the first 180 days on these Chromebooks, they expire immediately"

It also says it is per-Chromebook not per-Google account.

I bought mine before the cut-off date.

    Excellent offer.

  • So how long would I take to fill 1TB with a 1Mbit/sec ADSL connection?
    Well you could upload about 24 * 60 * 60 = 86.4 Gigabits, or 10.8 GB per day.
    So 1000 / 10.8 ~= 92.6 days…that is a while :)

    • Are you pushing 1Mbit/sec for your uploads though? http://speedtest.net
      I'm not :-(

      • When I uploaded a large number of files, of about 20 GB of data, it took a while.

I did it over night for a few nights. Starting just before I went to bed and stopping again when I got up.

I think I was uploading at about 300 to 500 Mb per hour.

I am on ADSL syncing at 20000 mbps down and 1000 mbps up.

It was very slow for anyone else on line while the data uploaded.

  • off topic, can i buy a google drive subscription using telstra credit?

    • Great question. When I buy apps in Google Play from my Telstra phone the option is there to use Telstra credit.

I just tried the same to add storage in Google Drive, but the option was not there.

Perhaps someone else knows if this is possible?

  • Did i say 20000 mbps? correction: 20000 kbps:-).

  • Victory! Thank you! :)

  • Great TA. just got, thanks heaps. RE Toshiba 2 - I bought one whilst over in the USA and it works fine with an Australian adaptor, though it does get very hot.

    Interesting

    Go
    https://www.google.com/chrome/devices/goodies.html

    Breakpoints on
    https://chromeos-registration.googleapis.com/js/echo_provide…

find desktop echo extension, leverage iframe approach based on broker.html
    send xhr with custom OTC

    Add 1tb

wonder if OTC could be randomly generated.

Would love to see full packet capture of registration with root device using custom cert and MITM

  • Am trying to redeem this on my ASUS Chromebox, but get error

edit: a reboot fixed the problem. So Chrome-os is not completely different to Windows :-)
