Just a note: If you have any Credit on the Amazon Appstore (there were a lot of such opportunities 6 months ago), you have 12 months to spend it expires. Don' know what to get. Go hippy and get this then: "http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Tone-Software-Tarot-Illuminati/dp/B00HGT5VM0" Though people who were New Agers seem to be eco-fundamentalists now. Fads are always changing.

    • I didn't know this. Thanks.

  • What's worth grabbing from this list? Had a quick look and probably wouldn't use any of them.

Worms 2:Armageddon - classic fun game

ezPDF Reader PDF Annotate Form - excellent PDF reader, i use it as my main pdf app

PhotoSuite Pro 3 - no idea

      Paper Camera - no idea

      MyBackup Pro - no idea

Doc To Go Premium Key - pretty good office suite … i hate all office suites on touchscreens but this was pretty (good?) if you consider that theyre all crap IMO.

Runtastic PRO GPS Running, Walking & Fitness Tracker - meh fitness tracker

Little Piano (Pro) - no idea, definitely not for me though

Jamie's 20 Minute Meals - havent used but if you like cooking how bad can it be for free?

Calling All Mixels - no idea

      • Thanks for the rundown

Mybackup Pro (one of the best backup programs not called Titanium)
    EZPDf (very good but bloated)
Paper camera (i prefer Camera Zoom FX to this though)

    • I don't use Titanium anymore although I've had a legitimate license for a long time even if I want the level of features it provides. Aside from anything else it's GUI is terrible when compared to the competition now (eg. ROM Toolbox Pro which also provides more features to boot). It is a very hard app to get the full experience out for new users just because of the GUI unless they spend a long time using it or consume other documentation.

Not hatin just pointing out that there are much nicer backup options now for power users.

But anyhow for an everyday I'd recommend Helium (paid and I'm not sure if they have a free license) as a backup option for everyday users or anyone wanting a simple, robust solution.

  • How long before these typically go onto the US store?

    • +1

24 hrs. Most of these apps has been freed before on Amazon.

    • Not likely to appear on US store tonight because this is to celebrate 1 year anniversary of AU store. Glad to be proven wrong though.

  • I found ezpdf terribly slow and bloated for reading. Was probably acceptable 3 years ago when there were no alternatives and slow devices but on a nexus 7 2013 it's just unacceptable.

    • I've tried a few, always go back to repligo pdf reader.

    • You can just install kingsoft office. One suite to read them all.

    • Heh interesting, never had this issue.

  • Little Piano any good for learning or just a kids app?

    Jamie's 20 Minute Meals

I think I got this for 49 cents some years ago, really handy when you're wondering what to cook after work, a good selection of quick recipes. Free is even better!

  • Woooorms! Thanks OP.

Bah! Only 2 apps that I didn't already have for free from Amazon in the past.

They running out of things to give away to tempt me to use their app store?

  • So the Amazon App Store and Google play stores can have the same app but at different versions?

And some of the apps on the Amazon App store are far older than the version found on Google play store?

I assume if you purchase the app from one store, it does not mean you can get a later version from the other store?

    • +2

      Yes, correct for all questions.

  • Can someone tell me, if I dont currently have access to my device is there a way that I can go to the Amazon web store and get these apps to load on later?

    • +2

Yes, just click the link OP shared, sign in with your amazon account, click the app then on the right hand side it says "Buy now with 1-click".

"Buy" the apps you want, then when you do have access to your device, open the Amazon App Store app, go to the menu and tap "My Apps" then choose "Cloud". Tap refresh if needed, and the apps you bought online will be available for download/install.

  • Poor andriod :(

  • Er … OK.
