Thank you OP, appreciate your efforts. Coles shopping planned for later this week as a result.

I've been waiting for the Peri Peri sauce to come back on special. I mix it with mayo and it's a great dressing or topping for chicken & fish. Nice one Trent.

    • +1

Should just buy the Nando's Perinaise from coles instead. :)
Tastes better to me that self-mixing.

      • +5

Once opened Perinaise needs to be used within 3 weeks, so I'd probably end up wasting it and chucking it out. Buying mayo and peri peri sauce seperately means it lasts me longer, saving money in the long run. If I used it more frequently I would buy it already mixed.

        • +1

I didn't know you had to use it within 3 weeks… I never have, just chuck it in the fridge and use it when I need to. Never had an issue

      • .. having said that, I gave fatpizza a + because if it tastes better and you'd use it within 3 weeks then it would be a good option

  • Thanks Trent +1 for peri peri.

Just wondering whether I can get 10 x Vodafone 3G USB and use them for the following months?

    • +2

      Limit of 2 per customer

      • Take 5 friends

        • +17

          Take 5 different hats

        • +3

          @hamza23:

Haha, hats are so costly. I will try with 5 T-shirt first :)

      • +1

        Thanks for the info :)

      • So, excuse my ignorance but can i use this when we go away for the weekend instead of paying for internet cafe use?
Does this include everything i need to go onto the internet on a pc/mac?
Will i be able to use it as a wifi hotspot to enable other devices e.g. iPads to then use the internet?
What happens after the 3GB/30 days, will i be able to then wait for a cheap recharge or is it best to ditch and buy another one?
        Thanks !!!

    • Cheaper to get the optus $30 pack for $15 and use the $2 a day plan and tether. Works out 4.5 gig for $9 and its 4g plus unli calls and text.

      • +1

Where to get the optus $30 for $15 pack please?

        • +1

Coles have them every few weeks at that price and also target had them i have bought over 12 in the last few months so it wont be long and they will be half price again.

      • +2

Problem is even you use 100mb still cause you $2 per day.

        • May be compensated w. calling 30 mins plus flexibility to stretch out six months too. ($1 x 30 sessions)

      • +1

Well that $9 will only give 9 days of access.

Also, it's up to 500MB per day. They don't rollover any unused quota. Should you happen to go over 500MB they will automatically increase your quota to 1GB and charge double for that day.

    • is the Aldi deal or this deal better?

I just want to use another number if I need to call Scumtree numbers or other unreputable places maybe once a month…

  • +2

I went to Coles last time and they didn't have any Vodafone 3G USB Starter pack With 3GB 30 DAY :-(

    • Starts Wednesday.

They could be getting some in stock.

  • "HALF PRICE Cadbury Favourites Or Mini blocks 320g $6"

They were $5 in Big W on Saturday. Not sure if it was only for Saturday or not. Price tag did not say anything off.

  • I don't have much experience with mobile internet in general?, would a Vodafone 3G USB Starter pack work if you're travelling overseas?

    • +2

      Nope only in Australia.

      • wow, even on say the UK vodafone networks?

        • Yeah not designed for roaming regardless of where and which network.

  • +1

Can I just use the sim in vodafone 3g usb in my mobile? Is it microsim?

    • +1

It's a standard sim. But I suppose you could cut it into a microsim yourself.

      • And, is it only 3G or will it work at 4G speed in a 4G device?

        • The usb dongle is 3G one, but the sim card is preloaded with 4G data, if you put it in a 4G compatible device.

    • It's standard sim but resizable to microsim by breaking away the outer card.

      • Got mine today. Yes, it's resizable sim card.

Now I can buy a bunch and put it in my dual sim phone :-)

  • Any idea if the vodafone 3g usb is locked? I'd like to put my optus sim into it

    • It will be locked and the frequencies offered won't be a good match.

If I remember correctly these are a really crappy modem.

    • got some last time they where on special at coles for $9 and they where unlocked.

      • +2

        ◆were

        • The modems i got last time at coles for $9 the "extreme" model and were unlocked.

Not sure if this $9 special is unlocked.

The modem i got yesterday was a real old one and had the words

"Pre 4G MBB bundle multifit sim" on a what looks like a new sticker on the rear of the pack.

Could be that they repackaged this real old modem with a multifit sim to get rid of old stock??

    | Vodafone HTC Desire 3G 310 $74

Specs seem decent, but it's ruined by the 512MB of ram.

    • Seems you need to spend $20 more for 1GB phone on special.

    • Yep, would be very interested if it was the 1GB model

  • Telstra Rush Android 4.4 1.2GHz, GPS And wifi $39Info

I think this is the new low price. Anyone?

  • +1

Good post, like the half price Nandos sauce and rice bran oil!

  • Good luck trying to get those Telstra prepaid mobile, they rarely have stock, even if you show up 1 minutes after they open their store on the sale day.

  • Bought 2 Vodafone USB 3g @ Pagewood. 6 left.

    • Which model did you get? My Coles has the basic model in the thin red and white box as opposed to the better "extreme" model that was previously offered.

      • +1

Don't know. Came in white box that I wouldn't really describe as thin. Can/will check at home tonight.

  • Got some as well from north park SA, model offered for those 3G sticks is Huawei K4203. Unfortunately this model doesn't support Telstra 850 nextG bandwidth.

    • -1

      Right!
That model doesnt even support Vodafone's full network.
Its really weird because it was manufactured in 2014 but they need 850mhz for their new network/

      • I bought mine predominantly for the included 3GB data, thanks.

      • -1

Just returned mine. 900mhz = useless.

        • did you open it? I did and realised the same thing but wondering if they will take it back.

        • +1

          @jdf:
Yep, and I kept the SIM too.
It's not fit for the purpose. It wont work on Vodafone in many areas.
These were manufactured in 2014 well after their change to 850/2100mHz.
Somebody in purchasing Vodafailed very badly

        • @King Tightarse: Thanks……good to know as I hate returning stuff.

        • +4

          @jdf:
No worries :) I actually spoke to their person who handles this dept. The service desk people didn't believe me at first, that a Vodafone branded device wouldn't function on Vodafone, and so called head office and passed the phone over the counter. The guy was onto the 850/900mHz problem but at first thought they had sold some old stock modems (Voda was 900mHz until the last year or two) but was a little shocked to realise these are 2014 manufactured ones. Anyway, hopefully the word will spread and be easier to return. Like I said, somebody seems to have made an enormous boo-boo and ordered the wrong frequencies for this modem. Seems impossible but…Voda.

        • +1

@King Tightarse: I would still keep it for the data, 3gb for $9 is still a deal, I have several modem lying around could use them instead.

        • @cloudie9:
Dont worry cloudy, I kept the SIM and explained it was already registered.
3GB for $0…. well actually, 3GB for some time and approx 300ml of petrol :)

        • @King Tightarse:

How do you know it was manufactured in 2014?

I cannot find a date anywhere on the outside of the pack.

Maybe it is inside the pack?

        • @grog:
I have returned it now but 2014 was printed on one of the boxes inner or outer or perhaps the SIM pack. Definitely was there as this point was discussed with the Coles person. Also it you search the modem model k4203, you will see it is very recent.

        • @King Tightarse:
They are changing to 900/2100 only 3G network. Man, no more 3G 850.

        • @andylch:
Intesting thanks Andy but I think there are very few 900mHz metro towers. If they follow the pattern of others it will be 2100mHz city, 900mHz country on 3G.
It still cobbles this modem. There will be plenty of places it wont work. The "extreme" model covers all three bands (850/900/2100mHz) and is also available for $9 if you can find one.

        • @King Tightarse:

No, your info is completely wrong. Vodafone is using 3G 900 for city bandwidth boost and rural coverage boost for almost a year. They have moved half of its 850 resources from 3G to 4G already since earlier this year.

You can call Vodafone hotline and use the online coverage map to verify my saying.

Don't buy any 3G 850 only device without 900 if you plan to use Vodafone, otherwise you will be mad. ;) (Such as HTC Desire 310 or Samsung Manhattan)

        • @andylch:
Voda need to update their website if that is the case because:
What is the new 3G 850MHz network and what will it mean for me?
"The new 3G network will run on 850MHz frequency, which is capable of penetrating deeper indoors than our existing frequency. If you've got a handset or modem that's 850MHz compatible and you are within an 850MHz coverage area, it should mean an improved experience with better indoor coverage, faster download speeds and stronger signal strength than before from Vodafone."
To find out if there's 850MHz network coverage in your area, visit our Coverage Checker at vodafone.com.au/coverage.

The best solution is simply to buy the "extreme" model which has all bands no matter where you live. You can bet they dont have 850 AND 900mHz 3G running simultaneously in an area, so there will be times when this and 900/2100 or 850/2100 modems fail.
Buy the tri-band extreme. It is the same price if you can find it.

        • @King Tightarse:

Yes, their website is outdated and need some reworks. But in case there is 3G 850, you will always find 3G 900 as well. So don't bother with 3G 850 .

Agree with you that always get the Extreme version with the same low price, you won't regret.

      • Vodafone has moved their 3G 850 to 4G 850, and only keeping 900 & 2100 for 3G.

  • HTC Sesire 310: Anyone in Perth got it?

  • Anyone knows the expiration date for the sim on Vodafone USB 3g?

    • Had he same question myself about Vodafone pre-paid SIM kits because I could find no expiry date printed on the packaging and saw a comment in another deal that they essential do not expire but happy to be corrected if that is wrong.

  • +2

Vodafone has been having problems with newly activated sims..apparently the introductory 3gb data is not showing in the account.. called customer service yesterday and said technicians are on to this but cannot advice on when it will be sorted. Has anyone had the same issues???

    • yeah had the same issue as well. the 3gb has not been showing in my account since yesterday

  • Just activated one of the sim card, got myself a 3gigs of data, plugged it into my Telstra Huawei E5372T modem and I'm running on 4G atm. Speeds are ok but not as good as Telstra but that's is expected. Still reasonably ok. In game Diablo 3 ping is hovering around 65ms on average. For this price, it's a winner for me.

    • how did you do it???did you activate online? or via customer service??

      • Did it online self help?

  • How does the USB modem speed compare to the pocket WiFi modem deal from last month?

  • +2

I got them to scan both usb sticks that vodafone had and yes the Extreme model (K4606) also scanned up at $9.

  • Is the HTC Desire 3G 310 easy to unlock?

  • +1

Thanks to @bagman for the unlock code for the HTC Desire 310.
    Fast, easy & only $5
