$30 Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer - Kmart Greensborough Victoria

160

Picked up one of these at Kmart, Greensborough, Vic, yesterday, at the Photo printing counter.
Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer, only $30!! Only available in Black color. Brand new, in box, with all the necessary cords, battery, one pack of paper.
Don't know how many they actually have, or if any other Kmart stores are selling them for the same price.
Might pay to call your local Kmart first and check.
I know Kmart Greensborough have held things for me (for a short time) if I've called first, so, if you really wanted to try and get one, call and ask nicely, then get yourself there quickly:)
Considering these were about $250, when I first looked at them, at the start of this year, this is a definite bargain!

  • They have a few left at Pagewood Kmart in NSW…also had some 10 packs of the paper for $1 each…I got one a while back when they were $50…stocked up with paper too…these things are great..you can either bluetooth from anything or plug your camera in and print out…love it :)

    • how do you bluetooth to it?

      • It has bluetooth in it, so if you use your phone, you select a photo and then print…it will sync with the printer.

And with the paper It didn't cost me $1 each piece, it worked out to be 90 sheets for $9.

Yeh the photos are small, but its fun, and its portable, you charge it up and you can take it anywhere, plus the photo paper are sticky on the back to, so you can peel the backing off and stick them anywhere…

also using my phone, I have a print basket that i can add photos to, so yes it will print multiples, :)

  • 2x3" prints bloody small!
how does it work with no inks or is there a catch
if so all you need is paper yes?
Can you print from the computer as well?

    cheers

  • yeah i am quite intersted to see how it works too
when you select pictures from your camera to print, do you have to select individual photos to print or can you set it to say print 10 and it will print 1 after the other?
    thanks
might have to pick one up! =D

  • the only downer is the size of the prints, it's so small 2x3"!!!
if it was 4x6" and double that price I'd snap on up!

  • anyone know how much replacment ink is ?

    • +1

You don't need ink for it.
"Instant magic. Prints without ink using ZINK™ Zero Ink™ Printing Technology from ZINK Imaging."

      • cool!

hopefully my local kmart has one

  • I think it works just like any old polaroids. The secret is on the special papers you have to buy.
Anyone knows how much the papers sell for?

    • The only ones listed on eBay at the moment are $15 for 10 sheets. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150372…

I'm pretty sure those instant film polaroids worked by having the light exposed directly onto the special paper/film instead of the standard rolls of negatives. As this is digital (i.e. electronic signals rather than capturing light onto film) it's a bit different. Apparently it's a thermal printer and works by selectively heating regions of special heat-sensitive paper - which is probably why it can only do 15 prints before you have to charge it again and each sheet is $1.50 odd.

    • Just realised you can get them from eBay Japan at about 60c each if you buy in bulk:
      http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290350…

… for me though I think I would just use snapfish.

      • I think snapfish is a bit different than instant mobile printing.

  • i think if you buy the rrp they are about $7 or $8 for a pack of 10 replacement papers so that is quite pricey at $1 each.
as stated above, no ink - which is the real amazing feature of the camera
can anybody answer my question about the multiple printing or single printing?

  • At least one left at Warriewood.
No good for iPhone as restricted bluetooth.

    No paper packs -

    Warriewood
    Chatswood
    North Rocks
    Campsie
    Burwood

point out expired expiry date and you may get quite a discount as I did.

  • can anyone upload a recipt

  • Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast has plenty @ $30, but no refills

  • Got one at Moe Kmart in VIC, the other day. It was the only one there and a good buy, handy for mum to use when she goes away and pictures are good for wallets. The only catch is that pictures of people can look a bit too bright. Sorry bargrin, mum's got the receipt.

  • Got one last week in kmart rosebud vic for $30 with 21 packs @ $1 each just need more paper so the japan one seems the best offer so far.

    • Hi cmcv If you find paper at a bargain price please let us know. Thanks

      • Just check at your local kmart…ask them if they have any, if they do, they should be as cheap as what I paid $1 for a 10 pack…

        • Thanks Mate

what about cutting other photo qality paper to same size ?

    • -1

and applying glue to the back as well? :)
      Convenience always costs more…

    • "The PoGo's thermal print head activates the 100 billion dye crystals embedded in Polaroid's new proprietary, glossy photo paper (peel away the back and your photo becomes a sticker). Sheets of the 2-by-3-inch media are thinner than the old Polaroid print paper and contain three layers of primary colors suspended in the paper itself." - see http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/31926/review/pogo.htm…

You could try other paper but I'll bet it'll just come out white.

  • yeah so this is only going to work with their paper, I went back to kamrt to get some paper but they had none.

so without the paper I cant use this.

got to hunt around for some

  • bought one today at Werribee Plaza for $30.Haven't try to print a photo.Very cue,but the photo paper is too small.

  • I want one, so cool. Can you print other things other than photos though? Like a notepad document?
I suppose you could use a screen capture app (if you own a smart phone), and capture the notepad doc text, but it's not ideal.

I will check my local kmart this week as soon as a go out.

How long does it take to print 1 page?

    • It takes around two minutes. Long lasting waterproof prints according to Polaroid. It is a novelty, not for serious printing jobs. You can buy the paper at office works.Too expensive for such a small print, But you are not buying ink cartridges

  • NOTE:
The 10 packs of Pogo paper from Kmart for $1 is that price because it's expired.

I rang up a Kmart, and the lady said they had no stock left, but might be gettin more in at a later date, but probably not at that price, cause they will be new stock.

I looked on the 2 packets i bought and the "Use before" date is 08/2009, and on the 10pk that came with the printer itself it has "Use By 10/09".

So can anyone confirm that this expired paper is working?

    • the expired - 08/2009 paper is working. But I do get streaks with any. You can do a recovery i.e. put one sheet in upside down and close to slot then shut cover and that clears it up at least for the next print job.

Officeworks in catalog dated this week for $199.
About 10 x 10 packs left at Dee Why.
