40% off Selected Oils at Repco - Today Only

70

Saw this on TV last week and also saw it in store today.

Repco are having a blue dot special (all oil with a blue dot is 40% off the displayed price), last time I got a few good buys but this time I just went to look as I'm already stocked up.

Picture is borrwed from google as I forgot to take any and I'm unable to find any advertising for this deal online.

Not sure if its SA only or nation wide, perhaps others can confirm.

  • Were any transmission oils on special or was it just engine oil?

I received that email Thursday without mention of time limits.
I went to the store (W.A.)to search for blue labels and found none but was told, a behind the counter list existed without prices and for very limited stock. Penrite Enviro 5-30 synthetic was on the shelf for $91+ which was very steep.
The previous week I went there in response to promises of big discounts and was quoted $35 for a VW oil filter and $25 for one for a Focus. When I said Ford sell it for $12 I was told "Go get it then".
Are Repco a waste of space or at the least, a waste of my petrol?

I have to agree with KevCol…customer service/care is not a priority at Repco compared to Supercheap in my experience…Last week, went to buy some engine oils and I asked the guy whether they were having specials coming up…(We have this new catalogue he said..no mention about upcoming specials)…Next day, i find out that they were having huge discount off engine oils…that's one example of many..Unless it is dirt cheap…no point of heading to Repco..others might have had different experience with them so not generalising..but my experience is from usng the Repco at Heatherton and Cranbourne..

    • What Kev says is true to some extent.
Like all retailers you have to look for the value items and be prepared to be shocked at the others.
I did encounter one unnecessary bad customer service experience at our local repco (2282 NSW) but that was the owner/francisee I think. The staff themselves are very good.

    • I have to also agree with you. Most of the Repco that I have been don't have much stock on their display, when you asked them sometimes they give you the funny look. Some stores don't even know what items on special in thecatalogue. When you query it, they told you that they don't have them in stock and have to order them in.
SCA or Autobarn are the only way to go if you know what you need, much better range in stock and better customer service. It's definitely waste of time and petrol to go to Repco!

  • I guess it depends on the Repco as they are franchises run by different people.

Most of my shopping at Repco is just for the heavily discounted catalog items unless I'm in unexpected need of parts.

My local one (a small store) I visit at least twice a week know me by name, always beaming smiles when I walk into the store, go out of their way to order in "in store stock only" from other stores for me, will knock prices down if I ask them what's the best price they can do and have given me catalog special prices days after the catalog has finished.

Then there is another about 50km from here (a big store) that I've visited about a dozen times, it looks like everyone is miserable and its as if they hide or pretend they are busy when customers are in the store.

Then on the other hand I absolutely hate the Sprint Auto Parts where I live because I had to make a refund there once, and my brother loves them because they knocked off a few bucks for him once.
