Was looking for a compact waterproof and shockproof camera to replace our dead Canon IXUS 120IS compact camera.

Wanted to get something that keep dust away from the lens mechanism (which the Canon is now completely jammed - how much to get repaired?)

Found this at $100 off the regular price. Reviews has this as probably the best one in the class. I think it even has GPS for recording location. Should be good for the Whitsundays @ Christmas.

  Have it, like it, I've taken it backpacking in SE Asia as a hopefully-indestructible, cheap-looking alternative to my full DSLR kit. Good 2nd camera for those times when you don't want to risk carrying around your DSLR or Xperia Z2/3.

  Had just put this camera to good use at Surfers Paradise. Picture quality and videos taken in the pool and the beach is fantastic. The F2.0 lens (one other reason I went for it compared to most with F3.5 as standard) with image stabilisation is also great for pictures at night. The reported focusing speed is as fast as I can recall on the EOS 600D SLR that I also have. Have to say with the good compact size, looks like the EOS 600D may not get much use now.
