Western Digital My Net N900 Router - $49 @ MSY Pickup or + Shipping

20

Hi all,

Was looking through Mwave for some deals on GTX 970 and came across this, checked staticice and this router seems to be the cheapest at MSY ($49) followed by Mwave ($49.95) then Computer Online ($146).

I know the Mwave one is on special so I'd assume the normal price is $146+. RRP according to Mwave is $149.

Anyway, if you're in the market for a new router, this seems like a good choice.

7x Gigabit ports
Dual band N900

Cheers!

bought one of these when they were on special once before, the wireless isn't that good, poor throughout and it also locks itself up fairly regular basis even to the extent that the LAN ports stop working. I wouldn't buy another one.

    • i got 2 or 3 of these (so sue me)

they were as low as $29 because WDC discontinued the lot

my experience is the range is about right for the price but speed is fine especially on 5ghz and the 7 ports is great

i had 2 microservers and 2 homebuilt nas on the 900 and it never crashed or misbehaved

i did upgrade the bios though

really where can you get dual band 450Mbps performance AND 7 gbe ports for the money?

  • Not the cheapest they've been. Historically been $29 in at least more than one sale.

  • I too got it from previous deal.
Worked well once I switched the modem to bridging mode. Very reliable.

Only problem is that USB printing requires a proprietary driver on your computer. Usb storage is OK.

too bad it doesn't support DDWRT

  • OUT OF STOCK already on MSY page :-(

    • Which store is it set for? I'll add it to the description.

  • Bought this router at $29. Great value. Lots of GBE ports. Haven't noticed any lockups.

  • I've had a Mynet 750 chugging well for some months, tho it had the factory upgrade, and doesn't like having its USB storage changed. The only thing I don't like is that you cannot manually release the DHCP leases from the Net interface. For those wanting a 900, the Adelaide CBD store is showing availability. No Tomato or DD-WRT.

  • True, but I got this installed on OpenWRT. wiki.openwrt.org/toh/wd/n900

Works a treat as a repeater. Repeats the 5g band and resend it on the 2.4g band. Resolved the halfing of bandwidth on repeaters! Full bandwidth streams 1080p from my nas without any delays.

    • eh? The linked page says "No OpenWrt support". What do you mean?

  • I upgraded mynet 750 to gargoyle. works so well. Highly recommend Mynet750 with gargoyle firmware.

  • If it can run gargoyle it might be great. Anyone have any links?
