Typical Ozbargainer. Spend hundreds of dollars in travel to save $40 buying a phone.

      • +1

If you ride your pushbike there and sleep on the side of the road its practically free.

    • +1

Stop day dreaming!!! Get back to work.

  • +1

Just got the last one at Woolies Rundle Mall, although they said they were getting another 12 in today.

No freebie 4gb microSD card for me, unfortunately. :(

    • +1

Open the back cover, it should be inserted in the card slot.

      • +4

I didn't have one there either.

Oh well, I have to keep reminding myself of how much I paid for this phone, I keep comparing it with my Xperia Z1 lol

      • +2

        Not on mine unfortunately

        • +1

Due to different batch I guess.

  • sold out at QV, Melbourne CBD

  • +2

In Rockingham & Kwinana area WA-
    None in Kwinana or Rockinham.
*Lots at Waikiki Woolies. Nice lady.
Implied that none available at Warnboro.

Tried phone out. Sound in much better than my x3 LG & Lenovo phones.
Wifi works better than Android and did banking, Ozb, maps etc at HJ's Rocko in carpark.
    Screen is ok I thought.
Seems ok overall, but still think Android is much better designed for endusers.
I'm not knowledgable with phones, but just wanted to hare 1st impression.

  • Hi long time lurker, first time poster! Just bought the last one in stock from Woden (ACT) - I'll be using it to stream internet radio from the Tunein app on the stereo in my garage/workshop via my home wifi. I'll also throw on some MP3 files for good measure (mine had a 4GB microSD already inserted in the battery/sim area).

Will I need to activate the included SIM anyway and keep it in credit (even if I do a 365 day credit recharge)?

    • +2

you dont need to, but you may as well, and use the included credit :)

try the inbuilt 'MixRadio' app if you are going to use it for that purpose. its very impressive and comparable to the paid services of Pandora/Spotify/Sony Music Unlimited in my experience.

    • +1

      works fine without sim

    • Now that infuriates me. I wrecked my sleep to get to Woden at 7 and the li'l $h!t of a guy turned me and another OzBargainer away saying they had none nor stock them.

      • They may have received their stock later in the morning via courier, and possibly didn't have any at 7am.

        • Sure I'd believe that if the other smaller stores close to this one didn't have any. Went to Mawson 3kms away and they had tonnes at 7.10am. Same at Weston and Erindale. The dude told us that they don't stock this phone nor do they get the same stock as other stores. He made up stories on the spot as it suited him rather than investigation why a large store like Woden does not have a catalogued item for sale on the day the sale starts. Lazy staff annoy me, especially with my previous experience as a Service Manager at Woolies.

  • I just got two from the central park store, opposite UTS. I think they still have many in stock. Sorry forgot to ask.

    • only 1 left at Haymarket.. if that is what you are referring to..mine came with the 4GB microSD card.

  • Anyone had it successfully unlocked using the ebay seller for $19.95?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TELSTRA-AUSTRALIA-UNLOCK-CODES-FO…

Ebay fee calculator comes out as $3.48. Not sure about ebay-paypal fees though.

I think the going rate is still $15-20 for these codes.

In my opinion it is probably not worth unlocking it, at least for my own purposes.

  • +1

I'll keep mine locked, until Telstra come out with better plans… Oh, looks like I'll be waiting forever then, dedicated mp3/gps player it is then!

  • -8

I bought 2 sold them both to cex for 55 dollars each made 34 profit as I used staff discount when buying them so only paid 37.50 :p

    • -5

      Jealous people i guess :P

i think it may be your just the pathetic one negging without cause.

          You're*

          Go back to school kiddo.

And my comment is because you capitalised on the deal for your own financial gain whereas people that genuinely wanted the phone missed out.

    • -1

Hey keep it up and you'll be a millionaire in 100 years!

      • -5

so your against free and easy money for doing nothing.
i think your on the wrong website then mate.

        • Matey, this is a website for getting bargains, not to gloat about making $35 at the expense of someone else missing out on a deal…

Back to class dude and get your 'you're' and 'your' correct.

        • @DisabledUser53470:

Must be a disciple of Broden lol

  • Got one at birkdale qld. No 4gb SD card but still quite happy with it. My phone died earlier in the week so this was nice timing for me,

    • The 4 gb looks already inserted because then I checked settings, it is showing 4gb SD card ?

      • definitely not in there, but doesnt bother me

  • bought one this morning, just wondering if this one works overseas without unlocking?

  • Bought 1 for Mum and one for myself from Ashwood Woolworths, Victoria. But we are with Telstra or its affiliates. Can anyone please refer to a cheap and reliable source to unlock these phones? I would sincerely appreciate if someone could help. I know some helpful oz-bargainers are out there.

    • +4

read this whole thread from page one.

    • did you mean "not" with Telstra?? This is a Telstra network phone.

    • Send a message to Bagman on this site. He will unlock for $15

  • -4

    hi all,
does anyone knows the cheapest to unlock Nokia lumia 530 ???

    • +4

omg.. read this whole thread from page one.

  • +4

Watch this official video and get excited about your new Nokia 530 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T663YbyHzDY

    • +2

      I'm officially excited.

  • +2

Would just like to add that, unlocking this after 6 months of purchasing it only costs $27.50 as long as you have some sort of Telstra Pre-Paid sim (Just get the $2 sim and recharge like $10).

OR you can contact the OzBargainer named BagMan which can unlock this for $15.

    • I can confirm that BagMan's unlocked code works with the Telstra Nokia 530 I got from Woolies. $15 to unlock from him.

      • Wow, did he put his price up or something?

        • Nah it's based on what he's unlocking. Some are $5, others are $3.99. It's all based upon what he's unlocking.

        • @DAOtmc: I see. This unlock must be particularly difficult then.

  • Bought the Nokia Lumia 530 in Cairns this afternoon and 3 pizzas. Bargains!

    • How are the pizzas?

      • I think you're the only person that didn't forget about those fabulous frozen pizzas!

  • -2

Could anyone double check whether this phone does work on Aldi SIM? Thanks a lot…

    • +2

doesn't work with my Aldi prepaid

      • That's very odd as my old Telstra 520 works using the Aldi sim, as far as I was aware Aldi uses Telstra :/

        • +2

There are a few types of locks. A phone can be locked to a network (Telstra, and any MVNO that uses Telstra), or a specific MVNO/service provider (like Aldi, Boost). It looks like your old 520 was network locked, while this 530 is SP-locked.

        • @eug: Telstra aren't stupid. They anticipated all us professionals brodening their phone and buying up big volumes of this low end glory, only to get duped when we realise our Aldi sims are not compatible.

    • +3

I tried ALDI sim and it wont work, keep asking for the code.

      • +1

Well that's an unpleasant surprise :/

      • persistence…keep trying mate….
Haha, no definitely don't do that. You may render the phone a common house brick if you keep 'persisting'.

  • +1

got Telstra to unlock it.. as I've been with them for a bit so.. they waived the fees.. sweet..

  • At least 6 left at Kingsway Shopping centre, WA

  • +8

Picked one up today. 4GB Card was included already in the phone.

Have tried http://www.code-unlocking.com/ for $5.99 - will let you know how I get on

    • +2

Please let us know the result

      cheers

    • +2

      Thanks in advance

    • +3

I'm trying these guys again. Paid already. Will let you guys know how I get on also. Should know within 24hrs they said.

    • +1

I tried these guys yesterday and they failed to generate an unlock code and have asked me to resend them IMEI number again, hopefully it was a typo on my end.

    • I got a reply. They didn't ask to resend the IMEI again. They just said they can't generate a code for the phone. Just waiting for the refund now.

    • I got the default response after 24 hours asking for the IMEI again. Decided to process refund - can do it from within paypal (there's a direct link and the company provides a refund without the need to raise a dispute).

Looks bogus though - need to find another option.

  • Hi. Anybody still looking to get Lumia 530 . I checked at Wollies Fairy Meadow (near Wollongong) and they had 7 . And asked if I wanted them to hold 1 , so they will probably be happy to hold 1 for you if driving there from out of town. Myself, I already purchased one for myself at opening time of Wollongong store. Phone seems good for the price . Limitted viewing angles is somewhat annoying . And doesn't seem to allow me to load maps without micro sd, and I mainly wanted it for GPS in my newly purchased 1st car . I feel kind of ripped off that others got 4gb sd and I didn't , though I know I still got a good deal .

    • Few family members wanted some, rang held 2 yesterday picked up today. Had heaps where i went as its dead there. Btw there is no 4GB memory cards in them, perhaps you seen something different.

      • It comes with 4gb internal memory, does it not?
Some lucky guys hence got 4gb(internal) + bonus 4gb sd card = 8gb.
Honestly, don't feel ripped off mate; a 4gb card is probably only worth about $1.50 these days. Chump change.

  • +2

Many people seem to want to unlock this phone (including myself) .. Perhaps we should start a separate thread regarding the unlocking ? Personally , I am thinking he 5.99 unlock http://www.code-unlocking.com/ is probably worth a try , and we should all be unlocking there rather than $15 Bagman deal . That is, if the $5.99 unlock works . If it doesn't , they are offering refunds from what I read of a review , though refunds seem to be offered after a week or so . PayPal has been good for me in the past regarding disputes for faulty goods, so the $5.99 offer seems worth the possible $9 saving compared to "Bagman" deal . Perhaps we can find an even cheaper, reliable Unlocker that we can all go to ?

    • Go for it. Ethanol has already given it a go.
Will be waiting for both your replies before trying. Iv heard/read alot of bad stories about them in the past.

    • +3

Another way to unlock is by getting one of those $10-$15 Telstra prepaid sim cards with $30 credit.

utkarshgoel mentions it in his/her post

You can then use the credit to unlock the phone. Telstra mentions it is possible here

Whether or not you have to wait 6 months is variable as some people can get it unlocked if they are going overseas or have an existing internet/home phone service.

    • I can confirm they can't unlock the lumia 530. Just received my email. Bagman is our last bet on a good unlocking deal I think.

    • Post as a separate deal!
      Thanks!

  • +2

Never would have guessed I'd have a Nokia again, but Ozbargain can do that to you

  • +1

Same. I went off Nokias for a while . But the old school Nokias were always my phone of choice PRE-smartphone era . Such durability and reliable, quality build they had . My friend once threw his Nokia at the wall in frustration, it stuck into the wall, pulled it out and phone still working xD

    • The wall was luck and didn't collapse?

    • I feel sorry for that wall that got assaulted and punished.

  • +2

I bought one from Officeworks two weeks ago for $110. This is a great little first smartphone, does exactly what I need - email, facebook, text, GPS and take quick snaps. I thought it was a bargain for $110, now its half the price lol.

I bought one from woolies today, so I can use it as a backup if needed. This is a ridiculous price for a phone of this type. Love it!

  • Thanks Jezzzza with free 3 months skype and landline calls link http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/mobile/campaign-lumia-with-sk… .

This should work with $15/$10 discounted $30 Telstra starter sims , which can be used for 2GB of data 30 days .

Perhaps might be really great for elderly people who likely still call mostly landlines . Shame they don't offer free mobile calls in Aus.

Does anyone know how much a GB of data might last in Skype voice calls minutes ?

  • Now, this is a deal!!! Free 3 months skype.. And I got Telstra to unlock my phone for free!!!

    • +1

      Hi Mikokik5
How did you manage to get Telstra to unlock your phone for free?

      • He's probably a regular customer with other contracts.

        • yes.. I'm with them for a while now.. and I asked nicely.

        • Could you advise the number you dialled and which prompts you selected?

I went through the pre-paid unlocking number and he advised that no unlocking fee could be waived as the handsets are discounted to account for telstra locking which is fair enough.

You either lucked out or got put through to a department which has discretion to do that sort of stuff

        • Did you call in or did it through Telstra shop?

  • Anyone having a problem when moving/downloading Apps to an SD card, after a reboot they become corrupted and you can't use the SD card for APPS?
(it still works for photos and other data just not Apps). I found a reset fixes it until you reboot the phone again and it gets corrupted. I've tried 2 different SD cards.
If i save Apps to the internal storage it works fine.

I thought it might be buggy software but I wanted to check if anyone else had this problem as it could be my phone is faulty.

    • Did you buy the sd card from ali express? lol

      • Nah tried both the 4gb SD card class 4 it came with and a new Sandisk 8gb class 10 (officeworks)

I just want to know if its my phone or a problem with the software . I even restored the software using Nokia windows tool it didn't make a difference.

SD card still works for maps, photos, music I can create delete folders. Its just Apps that are failing once you reboot the phone. Looks like some DRM scheme gone wrong.

        • Not good mate. Take it back to the shop and hopefully they can do a straight swap for you without any hassle.

        • @wolfenator87:
I would but I suspect it's s software bug that might be on all of them.
Has anyone else put apps on an sdcard and rebooted the phone and they still worked?

    • I had a similar issue. Suddenly all my app icons went blank and would not load. I think I had them loaded on the micro SD.

I did a complete reset and formatted the sd card from there also. I now put the apps on the internal memory now. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Although the apps were not running off the SD card, I could still access my photos from the SD card. So I'm also unsure what the issue was.

      • Thanks for confirming puffdragon. I was thinking of returning the phone but now I believe it's software bug.
I also now put all apps on the internal storage and they run okay. I have set the storage so that everything goes to SD CARD except for APPS. The problem is there isn't very much left of the 4GB internal once you taken into consideration the OS and the default Apps.

You can still use the SDCARD slot for media (photos, music, video) even mapping data or misc files but not APPS (once you reboot the phone).

I hope there is a software update that fixes this issue.
I found a few forums of other users complaining about the same problem (but no resolution).

        • Thanks for the cautionary advice. I just set my up phone using the storage methods you described. It's a pity fairly significant glitches like this exist on WP8.1. I must say though - I'm loving the .1 in WP8.1 ; it's a big refinement over 8.0 which I have been using for over a year. Can't go back to my "horribly outdated"(software wise) HTC8X now.

  • +2

Anyone managed to unlock it? I called telstra and they mentioned that AUD100 to unlock it now. :(

    • +1

They put the price up?! This is ridiculous! Class action lawsuit!

    • $100 to unlock it? What a scam. I'm sure that exceeds their subsidy.
