TeleChoice Kogan Mobile Offer: $28/Month for 2GB Data, Unlimited Texts, $650 Calls - 12 Months

180

There are few other plans on offer but I think this one is the best one.

Obviously there are deals out there that offer more data but the big plus side is that it uses the Telstra 3G Network.

Love it cause it's so reliable.

Sadly 4G is not available and does require you to be on a contract for 12 months.

  • This looks like a good deal, any alternatives for someone that needs to be on Telstra for coverage?

    • This is on Telstra Wholesale..

good deal, but these aren't new and have been around a while

    • Yeah I signed up ages ago but just thought I'd share with the Ozbargain family

The CISes have changed since 1 July 2014.

MMS is charged as outside cap usage.

    • Yeah, also note that International SMS is also exculded since that point.

      • Yes, the charged me $0.55 per international sms, which I thought it was free and used that all the time when I was with TPG.

  • I am on the 20 buck plan which gives me $500 funny money and a gig of data and that is plenty for me so option for those who want to spend $96 less.

As for the MMS I did notice that so I just send an email instead.

My wife & kids have been on this plan for a while and have have been very happy with the coverage and data speed. Excellent deal!

absolute MEH.. Even Vaya is better. Contract kills it.

    • +2

Doesn't Vaya charge each data session as a minimum of 1MB?

      • -3

If you got a smart phone its doesn't make much difference whether is KB or MB billing.

        • +1

Not true MB billing really chews through the data,

I am on Aldi with MB biking and it uses far more data than I thought, I actually have to turn data off to avoid a huge bill.

        • -1

Cant comment on Aldi but ive been on a per MB provider for over 18 months now and its always ben around the mark with data usage app (iPhone) so I base it on this evidence

      Vaya -> Optus coverage
      Telechoice -> Telstra coverage

YMMV but recently changed wife's Vaya/Liveconnected plan over to Telechoice and the difference in both reception (and battery life on the Nexus 5 as it isnt continually hunting for a crap signal at her work) have improved

      • Vaya -> 4G, leave any time
Telechoice -> 3G, $7 more a month and locked for 12 months (KILLER)

        • +3

What's the point of 4G if you can't get reception?

        • -5

who says you cant get reception? mb u live under a rock?

        • +1

Yeah I used to be on Optus and I couldn't get reception in my house which was about 15km away from the city.

Does that count as living under a rock?

        • +1

@Gavman: Not everone in CBD gets optus netowrk, forget under a rock. I was 4 km from CBD and did not get Optus network, i was with Amaysim. Now with telechoice and network is everywhere.

Perhaps he lives where your head appears to currently be…

        • -7

Could be ur phone is a peice if sh!t as well. Never had an issue with OPTUS. I get 4g coverage even as far as Mulgrave that's 25ks from city.

Nexus 5 is a pretty decent reference phone, and prior to that GalaxyS3 and iPhone4s
Perhaps you could realise that not everyone lives in Mulgrave and your sample size of '1' is not indicative of the reception quality of Optus for the entire country

      Absolute nonsense.

Finger Crossed: Telechoice trumps Vaya by miles in terms of call/data reliability and service quality. If you are lucky they will also give you a month or two access free when you sign up. I've already moved my families from Vaya/LC to TC after the price jack. They include International calls in all caps, very good signals within buildings and message based support ticket system is quite good I got to say (well at least for a budget BYO provider).

  • $20 plan is the best for me.

International Calls are included in the cap.

  • thanks, just signed up :)

  • Can you use the Boost trick where you go into a Telstra store and tell them you need a new sim card and the one they give you gets 4G?

    • Nice!

    • More details (or a link) please…

      • If you're on Boost, just go into a Telstra store and say you need a new sim, they shoudl give you one and it'll work on 4G.

I've done it myself, ordered a standard sim from Boost, after that arrived and had been activated I went into a Telstra store and asked for a micro sim. They swapped it over and boom, 4G.

        • anyone tried this trick with Telechoice?

    • That's a cool tip!

Unfortunately its not possible for Telechoice. Telechoice have no shopfronts so all of the SIM cards get mailed out from the same place.

Another reason is because Boost is owned by Telstra and runs on a unique Telstra service (I think its called Telstra Next G). All other resellers (eg. AMAYSIM, Telechoice…) run on "Telstra Wholesale" which is a lower priority service compared to Boost.

      • Amaysim is on Optus

  • I'm in this plan for the wife and I, great offer imo

  • Anybody know if you start on the $20 plan can you change to the $28 if you need more?

    • That's the way I read the Terms and Conditions.
Can also downgrade for a fee.

    • +1

I did this, so yes. Contract term continues, and does not reset when the change occurs.

  • Does anyone know when the deal expires?

    • It's been going for months.
