I would never buy my gear from peter stevens, they treat their products like crap

    • Not to mention lying about road laws to try and get out of someone taking a bike for a test ride.

      • Can you expound more on this?

        • Was told I can't go for a test ride in my work boots because they're not certified like the helmet law

    • And treat their customers worse than crap!

  • It has long been my observation that many people speak quite negatively of this motorcycle and accessories company. It is my opinion that, on reputation alone, it would be a risk to buy from them.

How so? Just curious as I'm looking to get a bike through them…why are they so bad?

There are worse (Sumoto are the worst I know of), but I expect if you spend five minutes in the store you'll know why no-one likes them. Almost impossible to get any assistance, sales people rude and wrong, test rides strongly discouraged, mechanical staff that constantly cut corners, etc. NetRider is probably you best source for info.

      • I've had mixed experiences at the Dandenong and Ringwood stores:
A couple of staff members in clothing and spare parts have appeared to not give a shit.
        One arrogant bike salesman.
The overwhelming majority I've found really friendly.

They were great when I went to test ride bikes after getting off my LAMs restrictions, and whenever I've gone to look at choosing gear they've been helpful and not been pushing.

        • This is a good point, if you do choose to deal with them go to one of the suburban stores.

    • While I don't know anyone who actually likes dealing with them they are virtually a monopoly in Melbourne for quite a few brands (such as Triumph), so sometimes we have to.

One of the main reasons I replaced my Triumph with a BMW was so I didn't have to deal with Peter Stevens so much!

    • Got bad experience with them as well, their sales person are extremely rude.

    • I've heard the same … from most everyone who has had dealings with them. Usually along the lines of 'did that once, never again'.

  • I know the reputation and how bad PS treat people. But generally because they import most stuff they can have decent (by Aussie standards) deals and I have never had a problem with their online store!

Last yrs motogp sale at their elizabeth st store in vic was epic. $99 waterproof a* smx-5 boots (usually $320+) and a whole bunch of other dirt cheap gear. Picked up a ladies ixon mesh jacket w/ removable liner and hard armour for $30!!! Gutted they didn't have boots in my size.

This sale this time aroudn doesn't seem too exciting…

    • last year was awesome. I got a pair of Supertech R's for $100 amongst other things

    • Were the same prices online as well?

      • No, last years weren't online. Apparently this year's prices are consistent with in_store prices.

  • Off topic, but where is cheaper, and maybe more range for leathers and helmets etc, Brisbane or Melbourne? Im headed south soon and need some items, but unsure if I shoudl get them before I leave or get them in Melbourne?

    • Does Brisbane have 'clearance' stores like AMX, if they have stuff you want in your size, I've found them the cheapest shop(s) in Melb, however I still buy much stuff online anyway so does not matter where you are.
