    • Hi Martijn, it is not a spam at all. It is an alternative for airport transfers.

      • Really?

Where's the bargain? What's your normal price?

        This is ozbargain… not ozalternative.

        • Sorry not to mention about the bargain in the description. I will update the description asap.

          Basically What you have are:
5% cash back on any route and destination you would like to travel if you mention you are from OzBargain
price match guarantee and beat it by 5%
besides that you have better options when you need airport transfers

  • Belongs in the forums.

Unfortunately, I will have to neg this one. I used the airbus airport shuttle van last month, started with the booking people telling me the van is picking up passengers now, which turned into a half hour wait as there were just too many passengers. And then I spent the next one and half hour cooped up in a hot van that endlessly circled first the airport, and then the CBD. To top it all, it was filled with a lot of irate and complaining passengers, including myself. Moral of the story: Use the train.

      Hi Asim,

what you have booked must be a shared shuttle service which you'll share your transfer with some other people and usually a little extra time for the other pick-ups and drop-offs. Please don't forget if you have a couple carry bags and luggage with you and you need to walk back home from the train station may not be ideal to you neither. I am saying the shared Airport shuttle service may not be the best choice for you if you don't have stuff to carry or live near public transport stop, but there are other airport transfers like exclusive / premium airport transfers which they wait and greet you at the airport and take you directly to your home.

I appreciate to share your experience and I believe it helps people to choose the service they want.

      • " there are other airport transfers like exclusive / premium airport transfers which they wait and greet you at the airport and take you directly to your home"
yes, and these services probably cost you an arm and a leg also.

In terms of the price, it can't compete with public transport. But as I have said it depends on your situation, imagine you are a group of 4 back from your holiday and would like to go back home at Parramatta, each of you have a bit stuff to carry let's say a carry bag and a suit case each of you. For sure a Taxi can't fit all of it not even for 3 people's stuff. So what other options you can have if you don't want to walk? Taking 2 taxis? Go to rent a car? An exclusive airport transfer only cost you as low as $115 for 4 people. I believe it is not a fortune for a lot of people. Again, I believe people should have more options when they travel/transport

The 400 bus is a better alternative, or at least use it to transfer to a railway line to avoid the access fee at the airport stations.

I believe every transportation service has its own pros and cons and with more options you can find the one does the right job for your travel

    • this is what I do

      • 400 bus is very good option for people live in CBD. But it is a very limited coverage service. People live in other places outside of CBD may need to take a bus then 400 bus then train which I think it is a bit of hassle there.

This may be a tip, depending on the time you have to be at the airport, where you're travelling from and the number of people you're travelling with:

I travel with 4 people, have to be at the airport at 5AM, i rent a car the day before for 24 hours, load up the car the night before, drive to the airport, drop it off. Can be as low as $70.

You don't have to wait for a driver and are in control of your own destiny.

    • Yes, agree. Car rental exists with a reason and the same way, airport transfer exists with a reason. There are many options can do the job but a lot of people don't know what other options they can have apart from Taxi and public transport. A lot of people may not realise these local businesses do a very good job. We would like to provide more options for everyone and also help local airport transport businesses have an online presence

  • This company is more expensive than a taxi.

    • @Zwarzy, just to clarify that we are not the company who actually provides the transport services. We are more like ebay for airport transport. It is a marketplace so the prices are from our transport suppliers. We help them have a better online presence and one more channel for their business.

Also most of the services should be cheaper than a taxi if the distance is more than 25km from the airport. If it is close to the airport, I believe people will take public transport or taxi as an option. Myself live in Kellyville which 50km from the airport and a taxi costs me min $120 + toll fees to the airport. An airport transfer I can pay as low as $75. For myself, I can't find a reason to use taxi at all.

    • That would have to depend on where you wewre going to/from, what time & which service you took. A taxi for me is $80+ each way. These assumedly start at about $15, with most hovering about $55-$70 for here. (Parramatta - Sydney)

  • Shuttle vans have a place & can make the airport trips a lot easier.

How do we get the 5% off?
The phone is answered by a Yankee robot voice that tells me everyone is too busy, do it online.

    • hi pgcs, our phone booking service is available from 8:30 to 4:00. But certainly, you can do it online yourself and once you book you can contact us via email to redeem a 5% cash back (which will return back to your credit card account in 3-5 business days).

These types of services are useful for backpackers that are unfamiliar with the local system and want to get to their hostel on their first day with potentially fewer transfers. It's just a shame that if your destination is anywhere near-equidistant but outside the CBD (Coogee, Bondi etc) you end up paying at least around $20 for a shuttle (http://www.easternsuburbsshuttle.com/ - never used this service but alternatives on Jayride are much higher for now) and ~$35 to Manly (http://www.manlyexpress.com.au/pricing.html - again, never used). Thanks to our ridiculous airport taxi rates these fares are competitive enough compared with sharing your own taxi.

Now that we finally have Opal though people from non-400 areas without train lines (e.g. La Perouse, Vaucluse) can finally get to the airport by bus for $4.50 max without being penalised for a disconnected transport system. It's crazy how uneconomical buses are compared to trains (let alone off-peak trains) in Sydney.

Of course I'm the type to sleep at an airport and walk for hours to save a few dollars.

    Edit:

BTW, OP you might like to edit http://wikitravel.org/en/Sydney#Get_in to suggest your website exists to compare shuttle prices from/to the airport in Sydney (though if I get a chance I would add competitors :)), since the shuttle listed only goes to/from the CBD. Hopefully you can get the more competitive companies I've listed above on board (although commissions may affect their already lower operating margins).

    • @peterpeterpumpkin, we will definitely try to get them on board. We are happy to provide more and more options to passengers and travelers to choose with. Thanks for your suggestion.

  • A further 5% cash back when you book before Nov/2014. So it is 10% cash back until it is expired

    • Hi just checking to see if 10% cash back is still on as I'm looking into booking two private transfers

      • Hi deecasey22, yes it is still valid as long you book before 01/Nov.
