Agreed. Certainly post Xmas and sometimes even just prior you'll get a much bigger discount than 10%.
While you are correct its unfair to neg for this reason.
Say its your friends b'day next week. Are yo going to say I will get you a calendar but you have to wait until early next year?
Think out side the square and get him/her a voucher and he/she can pocket the difference. Many people don't need a calendar until the new year.
To be fair the rep has undersold the offers. There are a few (mainly football) already discounted by 20% and the 10% stacks.
