  • Does any one know if it's possible to control the sound on one of these with the TV remote? TV is an LG 60PN6500. I've heard it can be a but complicated but I'm not too sure

    • don't see why not, remotes these days can usually sync with other brands.

    • You could buy a logitech harmony remote ?

      • Or a $20 universal remote from coles

        • Or a $20 universal remote from coles

Horror! I'd wait for the next time a Harmony remote goes for $20.

        • @eug: When have Harmony 650's ever been $20? (Unless you're suggesting a lower model) :)

        • @Lukian: The Harmony 200 or 300 ($12-20) would be better than a "dumb" universal remote. One day the Harmony 350 will be around that price, I'm sure.

      • EDIT: nvm, didn't read properly, carry on :)

I've got the exact same TV and this soundbar. Just use a universal remote, I've got a harmony. Btw, this soundbar destroys the TV speakers. It's hard listening to them once you've used this.

      • how do you mean it destroys the tv speakers?

He probably means it's much, much better than using the inbuilt speakers on a TV.

  • Thanks OP picked one up for my parents. I almost bought the Philips non-sub woofer sound bar posted earlier but he wanted the sub woofer. So thanks heaps, he was pretty happy when I got it for $99.

  • Thanks op - just spent another $105.04 thanks to you hahaha

  • This still seems to be the same price? Why expired?

    • said 3-4 but ive un expired it

  • Damn the deal disappeared while i was ordering it :(

  • hey wait - I paid $90.09 via credit card, and then clicked submit and the confirmation came back as $199 - $8.91 discount

    • just an update - got a confirmation for $90.09 via email, and went and picked up my sound bar yesterday no problems

  • My one just started cracking/popping 1 month after warranty has expired. Will see if I can get it returned/replaced @ dicksmith.

  • showing as $199 before discount for me…although I swear it briefly said $99.
Still impressed by the 'magic' of tricky dicky's website..pos

Anyway, no HDMI, so I'll leave it anyway

  • I decided against the Philips soundbar from one of the deals last week, but I gave in and got it this time.

I hope it lives up to the hype.

    • Let us know what it's like dude :)

      • Picked it up today. It's actually even better than I was expecting, soundwise. The default settings sound great for gaming and movies. The settings need to be adjusted for TV though.

The setup wasn't as simple as I was expecting. It refused to work with the optical cable. In the end I had to use a digital to analog converter combined with the audio in.

The remote is pathetic, borderline useless. Which is a shame, because the settings apparently return to default each time it's turned off, so I'll have to use it every time. I have to push in the battery cap in order to use the remote. I don't know if mine's faulty or if it's really that bad.

If I can sort out the remote issue, I'd be happy but as it stands, I'm a little disappointed.
