  • Spewing. Bought a sim pack from ebay for $32 a few days ago.

Is this half price for 30 days only?
These guys need to seriously work on simple explanations of their plans.
Their unlimited plans are $12, etc. from memory, the $12 plan lasts 5 days. It wasn't clear what happened after 5 days… My head hurt just trying to understand how boost worked. From what I could gather, their costs were $40/30d or higher, deepening on your plan. It wasn't clear why someone would go for the 5day an.
I ended up going with Telechoice - they were cheaper (for my usage) and I could understand the offer plainly and simply.

    • I don't believe there are any $12 plans.

There are only 3 options I can see, presented here:

      http://boost.com.au/sim_detail.aspx?pid=6

      $10 = 5 days with Unlimited Talk & Text and 500MB Data
      $20 = 15 days with Unlimited Talk & Text and 100MB Data
      $40 = 30 days with Unlimited Talk & Text and 2000MB Data

  • $10gb ..still frightfully expensive. seeing singtel & voda had it down to $4-$2 per gb earlier in the year.

  • Better speed on boost, well is for me.

  • Do you think we can stock up on these (i.e buy more than one)? I couldn't find anything in the T&Cs stating we couldn't.

  • Well, the thing that really does it for me is the fact that Boost is owned by Telstra and you get access to the whole Telstra network and full 3G speeds.

  • Is it possible to stock up on these and activate a new one every month, porting your own existing number to the new pack? Or perhaps transfer the value as a recharge to an existing Boost number? Just wondering….

I don't think it is possible to transfer funds between Boost accounts. What I had in mind was switching networks each month. All three major networks currently have a 50% off sale, so you could get at least four months worth of prepaid at half price from Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.

I guess the only way would then be to port your existing number to the new pack. But just seems too much of a hassle every month. I'm with Telstra prepaid. And with their new changes, they seem to be making their plans more and more expensive. Cap Encore was changed to Freedom, and it seems more of a raw deal. $20 for unlimited and 2GB would be quite impressive, compared to Telstra. Just no 4G.

    • Yes, I did it last year.

Just buy a bunch of amaysim sims from ebay, usually 2 for $1.

Port to and back takes about 3 hours.

  • yeah I say too much of a hassle to port each month. I have my main number on longlife, then I get these deals to use for calls and data.

  • Do these have to be activated within a certain timeframe?

    • I think it was one year

    • Expiry of 20th Oct 2015 for the sim I received today. They also included a boost "speaker box" phone case that I didn't order.

      • Is the speaker any good?

        • +1

That's a no. Bulky soft case with speaker and volume on the outside, runs on AA's. It protects your phone but not very practical as you have to remove it to do anything apart from change the volume. Any sort of movement of the jack creates a loud scratchy sound so I'm guessing they are just sending them out for free with sim orders because they can't sell them or use them as promotional items.
