ACT CTPI - GIO $50 Visa Card and At-Fault Driver Insurance Bonus

40

I've posted this deal previously but for those who still haven't caught on it pays to look at offers from the 4 available compulsory third party providers in the ACT - NRMA, AAMI, APIA, GIO. The deals expire but so far have been renewed each year.

Be aware, there are restrictions so you may not be eligible.

I'm sticking with GIO because of this offer (received advice from GIO that there was no need to re-apply for the Visa card) and the fact that they add "at-fault driver insurance" as a bonus.

AAMI also has a deal (http://www.aami.com.au/ctp-insurance/australian-capital-terr…).
NRMA CTPI counts towards their loyalty program (http://www.nrma.com.au/compulsory-third-party-ctp-insurance-…).
APIA has an age/employment-restricted rebate (http://www.apia.com.au/ctp-insurance/act)

In most cases to be eligible you must register on their website!

Current prices with $1 regulator levy are:
NRMA $579.20
GIO $591.20
APIA $597.20
AAMI $599.20

Here's the GIO spiel:
At GIO, we’re now offering better value to good drivers
in the ACT.

Take out 12 months CTP Insurance with GIO by
31 December 2014 and enjoy:
$50 back via a prepaid VISA card*
Additional at-fault driver cover at no extra cost^

What makes a good driver with GIO:
30 – 69 years old
Your car has been comprehensively insured for at least 1 year
You or a regular driver of your car has not had an at-fault accident in the last 2 years

Good drivers, register today to get $50 back.

  • NRMA also offer the at fault insurance protection as part of their CTPI

  • +1

Best offer for your age is:

    Under 30 - NRMA $579.20
    30 to 49 - GIO ($591.20-$50=) $541.20
    50 & Over - APIA ($597.20-$75=) $522.20

  • Additional at-fault driver cover at no extra cost

what does this actually mean? you are not covered automatically with CTP if you are at fault?

    • If you are at fault and have serious injuries, and dont have any other insurance cover (other than the CTP)… then yes, you are not normally covered.

A lot of people arent aware of this.

  • This is nothing new for insurers in the ACT, as AAMI also offer $55 cashback after you purchase 12 months rego as well.

NRMA's monopoly on rego/ctp compulsory combination went away a few years ago, but I still dont understand why the insurers just cant compete openly with either other instead offering these 'cashbacks'.

The monopoly existed until July 2013.

Unless you checked the provider websites you wouldn't have known about the offers, which is the reason I posted my initial deal. It's still the case that if you simply pay based on your renewal notice you'll miss out.

Same thing often applies to renewal of comprehensive insurance. The renewal quote is often higher than a new policy so it pays to cancel and start again.

      • 100% agree mate.

        I NEVER renew :).
