      That's what I thought.
However, the terms and conditions have changed.

Edit: This new T&Cs only effective for transit passengers whose departure dates from point of origin is between 01 October 2014 and 31 March 2015.
Hence it's not the same as previous deal.

Mod: feel free to hide the post if it's a dupe

note: it used to be that you get 2x$20 changi dollar vouchers valid for all retails outlets etc., but now "the second S$20 CDV will be valid for one-time use to redeem Liquor, Tobacco, Perfumes or Cosmetics purchases only."

  • So do you get this twice is going and coming home?
If you did not collect on going, on coming home can you collect twice?
By staying a day in Singapore you are transit not just 2hrs or such?

    • You can't redeem it twice, unless if you have 2 one-way tickets with 2 different booking/ticket number.

    • @PLANT : yes if you do not redeem your voucher on going then you can collect it during coming back but they'll need your boarding pass and e-ticket as a proof. so better you collect it each time of going and returning.

    • collect once only, per booking/ticket number. yours truly tried to collect twice (on the transit out and back) and failed.

  • So have to clear Singapore within 24hrs?
So if overnight then not eligible?

    • transit = connecting flight must depart within 24 hours of your inbound flight landing. your ticket will have clear arrival/departure time for verifying this.

  • Dammit. They better extend it again, I'm not going anywhere til April or May…

  • Nice, now includes Indonesia!

  • Yay…. would be travelling through Singapore in Jan so this would come in handy. Thanks OP.

  • Bought a 1 litre bottle of caol ila for 20 aud using voucher- bargain!

  • I love you, Singapore Airlines.

  • Do you get the voucher at Changi (at the IShopChangi centres) or before you travel? Wasn't too sure.

    • To redeem the CDVs, passengers in transit can proceed to the iShopChangi Collection Centres which are situated near the GST Refund counters in the transit areas of Terminals 2 and 3 and present their passport, boarding passes and e-ticket showing their full itinerary. The iShopChangi Collection Centres are open for 24 hours.

  • Sweeeeet! Going through Singapore next year in Jan :)

  • Who is running this deal, Singapore Airways or Changi Airport?

    • I wonder if it isn't a bit of both, being the national carrier and the home base?

  • ….not related to this deal but related to Singapore Airlines…

Has anyone experienced having issues with credit card verification for Singapore Airlines?

I used an ANZ credit card for a return flight SYD-KL. The checkin counter in Sydney did not ask me to present the credit card I used for online booking.

I am now in KL and rebooked my return flight to Sydney. Since they are charging me in SGD (rebooking charges - done over the phone), I decided to use my Citibank card. They informed me that I need to present the Citibank credit card in a Singapore Airlines office prior to taking the return flight to Sydney.

The next day, I lost my Citibank credit card…..very unfortunate indeed…

I called up Singapore Airlines and they told me that if I cannot present the Citibank card, they won't allow me to check-in. Only option is to get a letter from Citibank stating that I am the owner of the credit card# I used for rebooking. Citibank will issue the letter within 3-5 business days.

If I cannot get the letter from Citibank, I cannot use my return journey to Sydney and need to buy a new ticket!

I suggested that Singapore Airlines should refund the money to my Citibank credit card (which is still active, only the card is blocked at the moment) and let me use a new credit card to pay the rebooking charges……But Singapore Airlines won't allow me to do that….

Any suggestions or experiences with Singapore Airlines or other airlines like this?

    • My first thought is to request a chargeback through Citibank? Not sure if that's possible though…

      • Thanks zzyss, but Singapore Airlines still won't allow me to pay it with another credit card…..

  • Thanks OP

  • Gotta remember this for my upcoming trip!

  • Great share, thanks OP.

Great! Just in time for my wife's travel next weekend - the vouchers from the last promotion (ending 30 Sep 2014) will apply to her which are less restrictive than the new promotion.

  • I am travelling from aus to singapore then to my destination pl. Can I claim the vocher?

    • only if singapore is your stop over(transit), and you only land touch down in changi airport, stay in changi airport for less than 24hr waiting for your next flight to take you to pl.
*from my understanding, hope it helps

        Thanks exonerate

  • can anyone elaborate more on the e-ticket requirement? am i still eligible if i purchase my flights through a retailer like flightcentre etc? or would i have to purchase the tickets myself online through webjet/xpedia etc ?
    thanks in advance

  • Are Scoot customers eligible?

Scoot is wholly owned by Singapore Airlines.

  • How long these vouchers stay valid for? I mean if transiting first time you didn't find much to buy or little to buy. Can you use the same vouchers on your return trip. We are two ppl going so thinking of buying something for $80 or splitting the amount as we wish……anyone tried that before…

    • Yes in theory. According to the rules you're only supposed to get one set of vouchers across your entire trip anyway, and it says you can use it in either direction, so I imagine if you obtain them on your outbound trip they would still be valid when you return (or the promotional period expires… i.e. 31st March).

      Just guessin' though.

Edit: somebody else said pretty much the same thing in response to another post:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/161992#comment-2254115

      • Thanks zzyss. Reading T&C again it seems i might not be able to combine 2 vouchers and spend $80 in one go….at most can 2 transactions of $40 each for separate categories.

    • Multiple CDVs may be used for payment.
CDVs are valid for use from the date of issue to 31 March 2015.

You can use it on your return trip or even on your next transit in Singapore as long as it before 31 March 2015.

Last time I used it (in Feb), it was stackable. I paid $40+ using 2 vouchers in Giordano
T&C said may be used, I guess it depends on the store.

  • Would I be able to use the vouchers at the Transit Hotel (not Lounge) on Terminal 2?
