Went to a "marketing event" this afternoon and was chatting with Richa from Design Crowd in the after party (free food & free beer = the only reason why you go to those events). She passed me her business card and it came with a discount code on a sticky note. $50 off when you use the code RICHA.
Design Crowd is a market place to get graphics design done. You basically spec out your requirement and budget, and graphics designers around the world would compete for your business.
I just used these guys for some logo designs…. really impressive service. There are a few discount codes floating around online but is this a pretty good one!

Call me an idiot but I dunno why any designer would wanna spend hours designing a logo/website (unless they are that desperate for work), then just to find out the poster picked another designer…
imagine you're the designer - how many times would you keep doing it until you throw in the towel?!
Alot of crowdsourced designers are from countries with a lower average income, and they are willing to work more for the chance at the same amount of money. That drives freelancers from here and other first world country to work harder at lower pay. It's a race to the bottom that you can't win.
Yeah this shortchange the designers who spend hours on their work & not get picked nor paid. It would be an easy way for the hirer to steal/copy designs & not pay anyone a cent. This seems unfair & very risky for freelance designers.
A different site freelancer.com.au uses a bidding system where hirer posts job requests & various designers place bids with proposal & price. Hirer selects the most suitable bid & deal is made. I reckon this is a better system for the hirer & especially the designers.
Its pretty good. You get better quality of work compared to other freelancer type sites. But you pay more premium. Its roughly $300 for logo without discount.
I actually posted something even better in the form. It gives 1 Free Design task at Swiftly (same parent company). Just its just for small < 30 minutes type jobs (cost $19).
To my surprise no ozbargain went for the Free Deal.

I posted in form as it was sent to me as a referral since I was one of early adopters. We use it all the time. I guess some things are hit and miss. I genuinely though my post would get ozbargained :). I literally had Zero takers.

Actually not the same company — 99designs is based in Melbourne whereas Design Crowd is Sydney based. Same marketplace concept though.
