Shame you have to pay a $2.95 service fee per card

Really? If you pay $94 USD in visa with 3% Bank fee plus this service fee a "$110 AUD Westfield Gift Card" could cost you $109.96 AUD. Ha! You just saved yourself $0.04 AUD!

      • Sounds like you're better off ordering from here

    It charges in USD too.

I used up some points for this, entered the code, but not clear if the extra $10 will be received.

    • The hell? Why would they charge in USD for?

Thanks for letting us know though, no point paying for it with a CC and getting slogged with a currency conversion fee (unless you've got 28Deg). Plus with this service fee I can't be stuffed anymore

  • last time i checked these gift cards were not accepted by all stores at a westfield shopping centre, so before jumping in and purchasing make sure if you have a particular purpose in mind that the store actually accepts these.

They've changed over from being the old style gift cards to new, EFTPOS ones. Essentially like any prepaid/reloadable debit card.

      • according to this link there seem to be 2 types of westfield gift cards…
        https://www.westfieldgiftcards.com.au/Online/Retail/About
        1) Regular gift cards
        2) Westfield XS Giftcards (which are the eftpos type)

The website still features this clause also…
" Westfield actively encourages all retailers inside our centres to accept our Gift Cards, however this is at their discretion. The Coles Group (with the exclusion of Kmart and Target) do not currently accept Westfield Gift Cards. Click here to understand which retailers in your nearest centre accept our Gift Cards (keep an eye out for the Westfield Gift Card icon next to accepting retailers)."

Conveniently the 'click here' link does not work.

        • Last time I asked my local westfield, they assured me that every store accepted them. I used the 'regular' card at several places including Coles and they did accept it.

    requires 'miles' to purchase

    • yep, very misleading title

So that means around $100 off a new iphone from the Apple Store then?

    • $70.50 off, once you deduct the $2.95 x 10 for the 10 cards you would need to purchase to make up the $1000.

      • iphone 6 plus (128GB) is $1249, so you'd need to purchase 13 cards… So you'd save $92 after paying the card fees…

  • Reads like AU$ are not the normal currency at Westfield.

  • this bonus is to offset the falling value of the AUD ie. AUD110 for US100 or equivalent. FX fees also incurred when purchasing with AUD. Also requires min milage accrued.

    • Can you find it cheaper ??

  • After Calculation… It's not worth it, Spending $110+ to get a $110 Giftcard

  • Not worth it with currency convention and additional fee. Not really a bargain.

  • It is worth it if you have some "miles" from an international journey.

I still have a little over 11000 "miles" from a trip to Europe a couple of years ago, and there is nothing in the Emirates store that is worth "buying" with that few miles, because you can't pay shipping with your miles, you have to pay shipping with money, and their shipping is expensive.

These Westfield cards are the ONLY item in the store with free delivery - so they are worth it if you have some miles to trade in.

I calculate I'll get this $110 card for an outlay of about AU$72 (28 Degrees card), so a net gain of about AU$38 for me.

However, I think I'll have to load some money into my CC first, as buying gift cards via CC is often considered a "cash-equivalent transaction", and interest starts accruing from day 1.

    Thanks OP!

    • A correction: having just been through their checkout process, Emirates DO offer an option to pay for shipping using "miles", so part of my post above is incorrect.
