      What a fly away deal!

      • +5

Yeah, by the looks of it, it's really taking off!

        • +3

seems popular enough that it caused the site to crash and burn

    • +13

Not sure if 19 individual prices will fit in the title ;)

  • +6

Hi cniminc, we have got 19 items at various prices, should I put "From $19.95"? I was trying to figure that out as I read that in some other deals. Thanks for your help in advance.

    • +5

I wouldn't stress about it, but if you want to do that you can. Your post seemed clear enough to me. :)

  • +1

    +1 for effort :)

  • +7

What would be the best one to get for someone who loves to impulse buy gadgets and has no remote flying experience whatsoever?

    • The cheapest one. You'll crash it, alot.

EDIT: The contra rotating models (the ones with 2 sets of main rotor blades) are pretty easy to fly, and cheap.
Then you step up to the flybar ones and start buying spare parts =P

    • Nitr0 is correct. I would start with a "coaxial" model which has the 2 sets. They are more stable than the single blades/quads.

take a look at the hornet with sky crane. Dont use the crane when you first start, but once you get good at flying, start using it then. Lots of fun. But ignore it whilst learning to fly!

      • +1 for the it's so stupid it's funny video of the hornet with sky crane. I must watch for all

      • Modecom, I appreciate your honesty in not pointing me in the direction of the "Juggernaut" although I half hoped you did.
The Hornet seems to be infrared. Will this work well outdoors?
Wondering how the bubble one would go with my 2 year old chasing it.

Also like the look of the doublehorse but some online reviews say its awsome but only after a few mods to it.

  • +12

I am convinced that if i add a helicopter to my flashlight, eneloop and headphones collection my wife would leave me for good.

    • +8

Google cardboard hasn't arrived yet then?

      • +13

They have, but they are damn easy to hide

        • My trex450 and 600 would argue with that point, although the entire top shelf of the oversized built in wardrobe in the spare room has never looked better with the helis, transmitter and associated bits n bobs.

          Great hobby to get into!

    • +15

You should try running a hobby store and bringing a new toy home everynight! Haven't been in the good books for years!

    • What are you waiting for? BUY BUY BUY!

  • +5

    Website getting ozbargained?

If this is a moving warehouse sale will there be a moving webhost sale?

  • OP, what mode are is the transmitter that comes with the V933 skylark? Are they available without the transmitter/receiver?

    • Nitr0,

They are all in mode 2 and come with the transmitter. Sorry I cant offer without.

  • +5

If it's free shipping why don't you just ship it to the new warehouse?

  • +1

which model have enough payload capacity to carry a goPro? will be interested to pick up one to carry my gopro camera

    • +2

      Hi Florachan,

You will need a special quadcopter for this. We dont have these in our stores but the best ones are

      • DJI Phantom(very expensive but most reliable)
      • CX-20 I really like this one but we havent stocked because a few production batches had issues
      • V303 seeker: We will stock this once they iron out all the issues from first 3 batches.

I wouldnt add a gopro to any random heli as it'll shake like crazy and likely cause it to crash

      • +1

Would love a copter for a gopro

      • +4

would those be strong enough to lift a cat?

    • +1

Come on, a GoPro isn't that heavy. Just carry it yourself.

  • Can this be used in conjunction with the $10 off if you sign up to the newsletter?

    • Hi Acemeister,

Sorry, you can only use one of the coupons.

  • Is the site lagging for anyone else?

    • +1

      its ozbargained

    • +4

My apologies, looks like we are getting alot of traffic and server is struggling. arghhh

Im getting the hosting company to look into it.

      Please bare with me.

      • +1

Thanks for the reply, and assistance :)

        • +1

We are working to fix it, sorry again for the issues. What a pain in the backside

  • are these avail in mode 1 transmitter?

    • Hi YZYgold,

These are all in mode 2 transmitters unfortunately

  • There has been an error processing your request
    SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

    So no helicopters for me.

    • Sorry Rick, server couldnt handle all the traffic. Guys are fixing it now.

Big pain the backside, my apologies for the disappointment.

      • No worries.
Was hoping to get some impulse helicopters
        for my spoilt sons.
        Ones that shoot things. :)

  • Need to check your measurements I think, or are these helicopters over a metre long? I really hope the latter..

    • +1

Yes they are big. The fire eagle and juggernaut are well over a metre. You'll need a big area to fly them!

  • +1

We are letting this offer run until Sunday, website will work normally again once the spike in traffic dies now.

Hopefully the unlucky ones remember to come back and take a look.

If I can help with anything just shoot me an email at [email protected]

    • Ill come back a little later see how things are going, thanks op.

    • I am getting a message that OZBARGAIN coupon is invalid

  • +1

which one are you guys buying, the impulse to get this is overwhelming..

  • are these things already assembled?

    • +3

      Hi 2Krazy,

Yes they come ready to fly. Only thing you need to add is AA batteries to the remote.

Please bare with us on the website, we didnt realise how many people ozbargain has, our website is really slow as a result.

  • What's good for beginner flying in the backyard?

    • +1

      Hi nfr,

There is a couple of suitable options for a beginner:

Double Horse 9118 or Avatar 711 (These are my 2 picks)

Both are on 2.4ghz remote and are coaxials, so you will be able to learn on them.

If you can fly somewhere with no wind, then you could consider the 134cm juggernaut or 121cm fire eagle. But if your place is windy, I would avoid these and stick the 9118 or Avatar 711.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions

    • Hi mshannon,

All of these models are suitable if there is no wind. Whilst the 134cm juggernaut is an awesome size, I think its a bit cumbersome to be honest. I really like the Double Horse 9118 because its size is ideal and it has the 2.4ghz remote. All the others are on 27mhz or 40mhz which is less quality.

Id recommend the Double horse 9118 overall.

  • Bah. Got to final checkout page, entered all details… and then who knows.
No idea if I the order went through or not as the page just reloaded.

    • Hi wumpushunt,

Ill find out whats happened to your order. Give me a sec and Ill send you a PM

    • Hi Wumpushunt,

Could you please send me a PM so I can check your order status. Unfortunately your setting are set to not receive PMs. Just quickly shoot me one and we can touch base

  • How easy is the 'F503 Night Ranger V2' to fly?

    • Hi Biggles,

Its very easy since its a "coaxial" helicopter with the 2 sets of blades. This makes it very stable.

It also has 2.4ghz remote which is the best quality.

Having said that, its got a fair bit of power but suitable for a beginner if they are patient.

  • How does the Double Horse fly without making mods to it as per some of the
    amazon reviews

    • Hi Dan,

The mods actually work great, we did it on the old 9053 model. Out of the box, it will be more stable, so you get less forward speed. When they make the mods, its actually removing some of the stability, so its able to go faster forward.

Another good trick is to add weight to the nose. Bluetac and a coin works great, it makes the 9118 much faster.

  • which of the quads is most suited to indoors?

    • Hello ellave,

For purely indoor flying, the ladybug is the best. It very precise for indoors and you can do flips etc.

The others such as V929 and V969 are fine for indoors only, but I prefer the ladybug indoors. Its a ripper

      • Thanks did some googling looks good, trying to buy 2 for the kids.

        • Hi ellave,

If you have any problems, just shoot us an email at [email protected]

The website has alot of visitors right now, so its acting really slow.

  • Very good deals, tried to order 4 helicopters but the site is simply too slow. I just fear they will all be gone before the site recovers :-(

    • Hi Nicois,

My apologies for the website, so much traffic has really slowed it down. I recommend checking back later on when things have quietened down.

In the meantime, if you would like to PM your order, I can hold those items for you.

  • How many hours would the battery last? If it's dependent on the model - for the Hornet with Sky Crane.

    Cheers.

    • definitely not hours. Unless it is 0.25 hours.

      • Specifications actually say 10 minutes, so 0.17 hours.

    • Hi pacman21,

The battery will last anywhere from 6-10mins per charge. That part is dependent on the aggression of the flying.

For the number of recharges for the lifetime, thats dependent on the care you take with the battery. If looked after, you can recharge it 100s of times. The main thing is dont overdischarge the battery. ie - when it doesnt fly anymore, dont get spinning the blades, let the battery cool, then recharge 5mins later.

      Hope that answers your question.

  • Is this V933 Skylark Helicopter any good. I had experience with 4 channel helicopters like Double Horse 9116 and I want a 6 channel. From the pictures it looks kinda flimsy

    • Hi abra,

It's actually made from aircraft grade materials but yes its very small and it certainly appears flimsy, I agree.

Its a good bridging helicopter for those going from the 4 channel such as the 9116 to a 6channel helicopter. Rather than spending the big bucks on an expensive 6channel and stacking it first go. Thats my opinion on this helicopter anyhow - bridges the gap between 4ch and big 6ch helis.

      • From this picture, http://i314.photobucket.com/albums/ll421/Lelongx/Lelongx022/… there are two wires one black and the other red. What wires are they, this is the only thing stopping me from buying one.

        • They are the wires that run down the tailboom to the tail motor. Im 99% sure, will check when I have one in front of me.

Im sure you could tidy the wires up with a bit of tape.

  • Oh man if only you guys posted this yesterday, then I would be able to play with this by tommorow.

Unless same day dispatch is still possible at this hour :D

    Thanks for the deal :)

    • +1

Ahh sorry, I probably should have posted a bit earlier, my apologies.

      • +1

you only need to apologise for giving me helifever :p

        • haha yes, Ive been trying to cure that fever for years. Apparently there is no cure.

  • Which one would you recommend for outside that can handle some wind for a wild pilot? Some experience with mainly coaxials. Should have good range and speed and not be to small?

    • Hi Dosada,

Whilst its not fun flying ANY rc helicopter in the wind, the best option is either a high powered expensive single blade helicopter…..or for the rest of us, there is quadcopters. Quads can handle the wind and are really fast. You get some forgiveness for a wild pilot too since they have good stability

  • Never flown an RC helicopter before but generally speaking and assuming that I'm not dropping the unit from 100m+, do crashes only lead to broken blades/ replaceable parts and not the main body?

Buying replacement parts for the rotor blades and the like are fine, but I'd hate to have to buy an entire new helicopter.

    • Hi jikijiki,

It certainly depends on how hard its crashed. In MOST cases the blades get damaged and they need replacing.

I have found through years of selling helis that Quadcopters get the least damage from crashing, they really stand up to it. Each blade and boom is independent of the others, so if you break something its easy to fix and only that "quarter" of the heli will need fixing.

For the traditional coaxials, if you expect to crash, get something smaller and not the bigger ones.

My personal recommendation would be a quadcopter for you

  • Saw you mentioned the Avatar further up Modecom, all out of stock now?

  • +2

Double Horse 9118 Volitation V2 price increased from $99 to $109???? good inflation right before my purchasing .beware their price change

  • price back to $99 again . power of comment, haha

    • System fixed, price is back to $99.

      • Thanks for this and the Avatar. Now really which one to pick :)

      • Can you fix the price for the Hornet with shooting bubbles and the truck and helicopter combo which were $49.95. Was about to buy all 3 of these before the prices changed. Thanks

        • Hi aussie28,

Ive manually changed them back to $49.95, we have less than 10 left for each.

      • Thanks order placed.

  • +2

Your regular prices are misleading, no way does the syma s107G ever sell for $99.

Can always be had on ebay for around $20 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Syma-S107G-3-Channel-Infrared-RC-…

    • Same happened for the V955 I was looking at. Went up about $20

    • It's not fair to compare local stocks with overseas stocks. You do need to factor in the benefits of getting local stocks.

      For example:

      1. You will get the product heaps quicker. I.e. 3-4 weeks vs 1-5 days
      2. You'll get a warranty from an established Australian business
      3. You will get more adequate customer support

I'm sure they are here to make money but at a smaller profit margin.

  • -1

They upped the prices by 5 bucks on some items that I saw couple of hours ago! Not cool

  • +1

as a good ozbargainer, i just ordered 2

  • Rep, have you just increased the price for V933 Skylark Helicopter by $10? Was about to place the order and realised the price increased!
