  • Note: Code can not be used with only 1 tablet. You need to add other items (a second tablet as OP posted in title) to total at least $99 to use code. http://www.dicksmith.com.au/fathers-day-rewards-promotion

    • Cleary that was in post x 2

      • $99 minimum amount for code use wasn't in your post! People did try code with only 1 tablet, as that was not explained here.

But as usual, people don't read details or other posts to find out code t&c, so I clarified as

        • Yeah true, funny how people ask questions and answers are in post most times.

  • Another low spec tablet from the vaults of DS but may be good for young kids.

But be wary of incorrect specs in these DS deals. 7" DgTech was supposed to have Android 4.1, but had an older OS.

    "Amazing Design for kids"
    Model No OP0118-12
    Released Feb 2013
    1.0 GHz CPU
    Battery Capacity 2000mAh
May not charge via micro-usb as stated in DS specs as it has a DC power socket like DgTech - which can mean carrying another charger only for this tablet
At least it has HDMI out.

ordered 2 for kids, will make a good buffer against total annihilation of my iPad.

Good post OP…with code, $80 for 2 with Click and Collect

    • like your comment!!! =))

  • First, I'd be surprised if the code applied to Click & Collect purchases.

Next, the code didn't work for Home Delivery.

    • +1

Code does work for both home delivery and click and collect orders totalling over $99. $9.95 delivery for 2.

    • Code works if you use it correctly, as I clarified with t&c link in the first comment. Reading is an underutilised skill.

      • code seems to work, but - after showing total order of $20 less - it reverts to the $99.xx price, just before you get to pay for the order.

        • Before paying with Paypal when it reverted I just put code in again and worked.
I did have to put code in twice…

  • Any thoughts about this tablet for $45 delivered?

    • +1

No, no, no… see the problems we've had with 7" DgTech tablet from DS… which I warn about whenever that pos is mentioned.

From many being delivered dead, some constantly crashing, poor screen viewability (dark screen, almost black unless viewed straight on), strange memory organisation without enough RAM for meaningful use, low volume, no GPS, no Bluetooth, poor battery life, …

And then there is the issue of deceptive advertising by DS. The tablet delivered was an older Android OS than advertised!
(Thankfully that is a valid basis, along with not being of merchandisable quality outlined above, to get a speedy refund under consumer law.)

I got that lemon, and quickly upgraded to the far better $29 7" Huawei that was on sale from Coles.

Don't expect much at this price point - they are slow, laggy, older single core processors.

I still don't know what to do with the DgTech… DS doesn't want it back after paying out a refund.

    • Oregon Scientific has a good reputation. I use one of their weather stations every day & am still pleased with my purchase after many years.

As for any DgTech products…they source devices at the lowest price from different manufacturers. There maybe a rare gem, but they have a bad reputation in the consumer electronics trade, known as DodgieTech. I have had dealings with their customer service… I would never buy DgTech again.

      • Gee your like the PS4 guy lol

        • I've got no idea what you are referring to.
          Its just a pos tablet.

        • @brucefromaustralia: Just lots of comments :)

        • @TRENT86:
          It's the age old story…
Broad stroke people (lots of new deals, but sometimes lacking in basic detail) can't understand the detail/research people (time is spent checking & researching existing deals, fleshing out details left out of deal description, reporting that to MODs to change original deal, finding a new/better deal due to that research, helping others understand deal, or having bad deals taken down if needed, providing a legal/logical framework to work through disputes & complaints rather than a knee jerk or defamatory response).

The two are complementary, not competitive. However the broad stroke person gets the accolades, while the detail person is rarely recognised, and often criticised for their observations or corrections, especially by broad stroke people.

(eg a prolific OzBargain poster tonight had a deal which on basic research of feedback from users elsewhere - was said to be fraudulent. I issued a strong warning & neg, it was reported by another, and deal was not published. Threat averted.)

(eg in a coffee machine deal this afternoon, I posted blow-by-blow account of price matching negotiations at different HN, so others could benefit.)

          Hence, a lot of comments.

Many of us contribute in different ways, all hopefully useful.

        • @brucefromaustralia: Oh yeah trust me im doing it all the time as a power user, putting in details, doing the research they should have done in the first place and so on :)

        • @TRENT86:
Good on you. As I said, we are often unaware of others contributions. But I have noticed your Power User status.
(Not my idea of fun. I'd rather be lying on a beach somewhere warm or eating fresh delicacies, which I do most of year.)

Some deals assume everyone knows what the deal is about, and if you don't you shouldn't be here. A pet peeve of mine. A few basic details helps everyone.

But I thought it was brave/ foolhardy of you posing another DS tablet deal ;-) But this time it seems a good deal.

    • For $49, Coles have the dual core 7" 8GB Pendopad. Much ore up to date OS, faster, better than that tablet. A few available at my local store in Brisbane at 5pm.

  • Of course, OP meant to say plugin more storage. (You can't plugin RAM memory)
