The first rule of Usenet is…

      Find something better than NGD.

      Oh wait, that rule.

I pay 7 EUR per month for a Seedbox in the EU, with a 10Gb Down / 1 GB Up link. In combination with access to a private tracker, this is a better option than paying 35 per month to access news groups.

I'm sure there are cheaper channel BT options out there as well.

Anyway, thanks to the OP for posting.

Its not $35 per month it is a 1TB block so you can download 1TB which could last quite a while for some.

    • sorry, i stuffed up :(

There is plenty torrents don't have and I just don't like torrents because you are distributing copyrighted material…

      • Not sure why you got negged, it’s a very important point unless I am simply a noob at torrents, you are also seeding which is uploading / distributing the material, and that is what gets you into trouble.

  • equate to 3.5cents/GB. Not bad. Consider normal unlimited accounts cost $7/month means you have to download more than 200GB/month to worth sign up to monthly plan.

    • The 2TB for USD $60 is pretty common.

  • I got 550Gb for $25 last sale and haven't used any yet because finding NZbs seems to be hard work. Is it worth getting another 1TB for $35? And is there any TPB equivalent for UseNet?

  • This is a pretty good deal. I'm on Astraweb, Same deal 1TB no expiry, but for $50. Thanks for posting this.

    • I have both Astraweb and NGD as backups. Despite NGD being cheaper I won't be purchasing backup blocks from them again. Waiting for Black Friday to see if Astra have a special on their blocks

      • How much were they going for on Astra the last Black friday?

      • and why you say Astraweb is more preferable? Just want to know if there's better usenet other than NGD out there.

        • I use NGD (cheapest) as my main and Astra (1TB for $50) for backup. NGD are a Highwinds reseller, and they are among the quickest to take content down. Astra don’t do take downs anywhere near as quick, or are less likely to happen.
Most of my grabs are from NGD, it is usually only older items where Astra has to kick in to grab. If you use programs like Sickbeard, Couch Potato, NZBDrone etc.. or are lucky enough to be with Dognzb and use their Watchlist, then you can grab what you need the second it is available. As such take downs to not affect you unless you need to get a much older item.

  • I'm fairly new to usenet, have signed up with NGD a few months ago.

Just wondering if it's me or NGD, but I'm fairly consistently getting "Out of your servers retention?" errors - anyone got any advice?

    • I was getting that quite a fair bit when I was using SABNZBD. I went back to using newsleecher without any problems. Maybe it's a setting thing or it could be that the files you are downloading are too old. I try to avoid anything that is over 1500 days myself.

      • It will have nothing to do with SAB, that is simply handling the download. It has to do with time from the posting to when you try and get it so that is your server providers issue.

    • See my post above about programs to help you automate the process and get things before they are taken down.

  • NGD can download files 2100 days old as i often download files like that. Unless the copyright people asked them to delete it from their servers.

  • I grabbed their last deal 2TB for 60 bucks. Sweet service I must say. No dramas - touch wood.
