  • I've got one of these, and in all the headsets I've ever owned, these are just plain brilliant. The sound detail is incredible, even for watching movies. I love watching Gravity with these as you never miss anything, even those quiet radio chatter at the beginning.

It is a shame Amazon don't ship them here anymore. I got mine from Amazon when they first came out.

    • Just curious as to how much you paid for them, and do they really produce 7.1 surround?

      • Well, I would have paid about $115 I think, looking at the order (was with a couple of other items). but the list price was 99 back then. Now their list price is 79.

The Zavvi price is great though

      • They might produce a pleasing modified sound that gives you the illusion of some surround nature but no, they do not really produce 7.1 surround.

Razer have a headphone that truly has a number of drivers in that may produce something better, directional wise - but pretty much all headphones fail at one major thing with the field and that is giving you the perception of the sound being "in front" of you.

From reviews I have read, the sound quality is not great with the tiamat, though.

    • Have you ever used an Astro headset? I have the A40 wired and it is brilliant. I can't imagine these sounding as good for the price range but I really do want wireless. Just wondering how you would compare them if you have tried Astro before. Cheers.

What does 'virtual' surround sound mean?

    Sounds like marketing

It's just sound processing. I mean, it makes a bit of a difference (I have the older ones) but I wouldn't buy it for that reason.

  • Arent these 129 here from jb or eb?

    • Yeah they are, but since its considered as a 'gaming accessory', it would be difficult for them to lower the price…

      • plus you have to pay for shipping since they are only available online

        • ive seen these on the shelf at jbhifi, target etc. I remember seeing them at JB for around $98 during the mid year sales.

        • They're effectively $97 at JB HiFi if you still have gift card credit from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/127701

Got my pair for $103 at Dick Smith. They were tagged as $129, but they dropped the price in the system. Might be worth checking there first? Btw, great headset for the ps4. Games pick up that its using this headset and set the audio preferences for you.

  • Is the noise cancelling any good? I mean i know they are meant mainly for gaming at home, but it does say you can use this on the go with an MP3 player. Just thinking of having them on a plane.
The BOSE yesterday were $300+, i presume they blow them out of the water. Maybe you get what you pay for, or is this a hidden gem?…

    • It doesn't have ANC, only passive. Headsets generally don't have as good audio quality as audiophile grade headphones.

  • Can anyone testify to the mic quality on these? How does it fare talking to others in-game on PS3/4, considering there's no turtle beach style extended microphone?

      taken from here:

For multiplayer strategists, the microphone sensitivity also proves spot-on, despite being contained within an ear-cup. Though very slightly muffled due to its discrete positioning, in our experience, the sound still comes across loudly and clear enough for team members in The Last of Us.

    $99 at Costco Auburn

      Brilliant! Thanks!

  • Great headset. I sold my PX5 after using these.

  • $110 + shipping ($5 in my basket) at MightyApe
    http://www.mightyape.com.au/product/PlayStation-Gold-Wireles…

  • Amazon will ship the Limited Edition Gold Wireless Headset - White for US$99.99 plus $9.48 shipping (black is $20 cheaper but won't ship to AU).

This is a better product. It's the newer updated model.

EDIT: Or maybe not. The picture in the listing looks like the same one, but they didn't call it Gold as its official name is.

    • lol, same thing. Mine are the Gold one's also. That's just the name in US/CA.

I see. It sounds a lot better as Gold than Stereo 2.0.
