Microsoft OneDrive for Business - 1-User License, 1TB of Storage - $2.50/Month (Min 12 Months)

80

Was just checking out pricing for OneDrive storage, and came across OneDrive for Business.

This service has been available for a while now (previously SkyDrive Pro), but Australia was always excluded from the available regions.

It appears now that the service is now available in Australia, and available at 50% off for plans purchased until 30/09/2014.

For only $2.50 / month per user license, you get 1TB of cloud storage, premium OneDrive features including auditing and reporting, as well as access to Office Apps (inlcuding Word, Excel etc)

The real advantage of this (besides the ultra cheap storage price) is that being a business oriented product, commercial use of software would not be excluded (unlike cheaper student versions of the software).

Either way, if you were buying this just for the storage, it would still be fantastic value for money.

Cheers and Enjoy.

(PS: If you are intending to sign up, I would appreciate if you used my referal link. We will both get 500mb of storage if you do :). https://onedrive.live.com/?invref=1a8c4c2cb062dc58&invsrc=90)

Think you've read the last part wrong….

Office 365 - Get all the benefits of OneDrive for Business PLUS Business-class email, Active Directory integration, online conferencing, enterprise social, the full version of Office for the desktop and the eDiscovery centre.

This only gets you OneDrive for Business.

    • Does this non O365 version have the 20,000 files limit?

Note Google have also come out with an unlimited plan for Google Apps (which includes Google Drive), $10/user, per month.

You need a minimum of 5 users, except Google has already done the rounds with an Ad which didn't include this exclusion and don't want to talk to me about it. Hmmm ACCC or QCAT…..

Using Google Drive on a large scale is hopeless as they don't have the tools you would want. It can't even tell you what size a file is, nor how big a directory is.

      • Unlimited Storage (or 1TB per user if fewer than 5 users)

Can't trust Microsoft with your files. even if it's free.

    • Who would you trust? Google??? Or worse DropBox???
Sensitive data don't belong to cloud, full stop.
Non-sensitive data - this one is probably one of the best options. It is a large company, so not like the two dozen of other companies who run some storage plan and you never heard of them again after a year or so.
MS did not have such bad security breaches as DropBox had. And I would trust MS more than google with regards to the misuse of the data for marketing/advertising for example.
I think it is a great deal and it is great it has been made available to Australia. Personally I do have student version of Office 365 and the speed of OneDrive is excellent.

      • Sorry I meant to write services provided by Microsoft. They had a similar service (online data storage) before, they just pulled plug, I had hard time moving my files to another service (ADSL1 wasn't as fast so it took ages). Lots of businesses got on board with Microsoft Money (this is when I was in US, not sure about AU), which could have been a great software in the long run, but they pulled plug. I had purchased $150 worth of books in 'Microsoft Reader' format. Many I didn't even read, they canceled that program and stopped ebook service.

I started using Google Picasa in 2002, all family photos were in it. Then I backed them up to Picasa Web Albums. 12 years later it still exists and works.
All I am saying is Microsoft is (sometimes) good at making Windows and Office. Other services I am not sure I want to use them even if they are free or cheap.

Google for sure. Far more than MS or Dropbox.

More experience working at scale, better uptime and availability and expanding ecosystem of cloud integration services.

People need to get over the whole Google marketing/advertising. It's naive to think that Microsoft is any different.

        • If you're overly paranoid, there is always Mega. Sure, it's only 50GB, but it's a crapload more secure than anything else out there…

  • Probably want to note if it like O365 (of which this is included) maximum 20,000 for that 1TB

  • this is not a deal, there are free 2TB with pan.baidu.com or pay for 5TB !
Also, I am already using the onedrive with office 365 home Premium that comes with 1TB

I get the strange feeling that many of us would consider Microsoft more trustworthy and reliable than Baidu…

  • 20,000 file limit is the killer - shame!
