I'm interested in some feedback also - looking for something that is reasonably quiet and not to big as I live in a unit. Seems like there's a few options in $250-350ish price range that could be perfect for newbies, just not sure which is the best option?
Hi Dominus
So in your price range you'd be looking at the Esprit C5 or C6 or the Kettler Giro M.
They all have a similar size foot print - roughly 95cm in length and 60cm wide (give or take 10cm)If you're happy with a basic model with manual resistance control (ie. no programs and 8 resistance levels) then the Esprit C5 will do the job as it has all the essential features for casual use with a 10kg flywheel.
The Kettler Giro M is comparable to the Esprit C5 in features, it has a lighter flywheel at 6kg but it's a higher quality German designed bike and offers 5 year warranty on parts.
Going up to the Esprit C6 (which is starting to run low on stock) gets you 24 resistance levels (so finer control) plus 24 programs, a slightly heavier flywheel, forward and back adjustable seat as well as the usual up and down. Both Esprit bikes have 12 months parts warranty.
In terms of noise, they all use similar flywheel technology with magnetic resistance, so there's no rubbing or fan noises to worry about.
I hope that helps.
Hi Stalker
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.
For casual use, you'll be fine with the Esprit C5 which is the most basic model. It has 8 manually adjustable resistance levels and pulse sensors for your heart rate amongst the other listed features. This one comes with 12 months warranty on parts.
The advantages of the EnviroFit are that it's self powered (so no power cord), 5 year warranty on parts, 16 resistance levels plus 24 programs to give you a variety of workout styles that automatically change the resistance based on the program selected. This one also lets you adjust the seat back and forwards, as well as the usual up and down.
So it comes down to your budget and the types of features you think you'd use during your workout. Plus the EnviroFit saves on power costs as that can be an important factor for people too.
I hope that helps.
Hi Rep. Any chance of a similar deal on the Kettler Giro S spin bike. Would buy in a heartbeat. Thanks
Hi homeport,
The Giro S unfortunately can't go down 50%, but drop us a quick email at [email protected] with your delivery suburb and postcode and we'll get back to you with the best price on that bike.
Hi Rep,
what about the cross trainer? Which one would be best for a beginner but not a basic one? thanks
Hi pinoy_ako07
If we're skipping the most basic Esprit X5, then the 2 Kettler models are a great choice as they're German designed and come with 5 year warranty on parts.
The main differences between the Rivo M for $499 and the Rivo P for $599 are:
- M has 8 manual resistance settings, 12 kg flywheel
- P has 16 digitally controlled resistance settings, 10 programs, 14kg flywheelSo for a beginner, you'd be doing pretty well with the Rivo M model.
I hope that helps.
Thanks Rep.
What's the power cord for? I've never seen an exercise bike with a power cord? Does the Kettler Giro M and the Esprit models have power cords?
Hi Stalker
Yes both of those models are powered.
Righto…free shipping on the E350U has won me over. ;)
Order coming your way.
Hey Rep, I'd be in for the Rivo P if you can do free shipping to Sydney. Any chance?
…
Hi Rep, what's the best bike to get for casual users? (e.g. 30 mins 3 times a week)
Is the EnviroFit E400U worth the extra money over the others?
