Swann Scorpion Remote Control Car - Twin Pack $60 + Shipping @ SwannStore

210

These remote control cars are pretty good (if they haven't changed them). I'm probably going to pick up a couple - one for myself on Father's Day! Cheers

    $16 shipping to melbourne.
    Must. Resist.

      Resistance is futile.

Seems like a really good price, considering the cheapest Swann Scorpion RC cars on eBay start around the $100 delivered mark, and this is 2 for $60.

A bit more detail about the RC car - if indeed they are the same model.

Stupid question…can they both be used at the same time within range of each other (ie: are they on different frequencies or whatever)?

    • Each remote is "paired" to the car.

    • I think yes, given that these have 2 channels, so can race each other.

      • Err 2 channels relates to forward/back as 1 channel and left/right as the other. Being 2.4Ghz you could run many of these at the same time, not just 2. Depending on the technology behind it 2.4ghz devices sometimes frequency hop if they detect a clash, some can be manually 'paired' together.

        • my bad, you're right.

  • Orders received before 12 noon will be dispatched same day.
Orders after 12 will be dispatched within 48 hours on weekdays only.

    I don't get it.

    • they probably have scheduled pickup at 12 each weekday, so if you miss it you need to wait for the next day..

      • If you miss the 12 noon cutoff, why is there a 48 hour wait instead of it being despatched the next day with the other orders made before 12 that day?

        • -1

          "within 48 hours"

They aren't making you wait, they just saying that it will be dispatched within that time.

  • Thx Op, great deal. You can take those learner plates off. You have earned your P plates.

    • It's so good you can't even give the deal a +1?

  • Thanks for posting. Just got a pair for my son.

these fly at 40km/h… so you may as well buy a few spare parts for $2 each. I have a more powerful RC car with Li-Po battery and brushless motor and the speed is phenomenal, so much so that I broke the plastic chassis, wheels, struts etc. Now have a full aluminium chassis for strength.

  • Does any one know what voltage and capacity are the battery packs in the car? 20 minute run time, they must be a fair amount.

  • +1

Yeah, I bought. But noticed the other 'deal' on that page is waay over-priced. $50 plus shipping for two el-cheapo helicopters? RRP $140? ROTFLMAO…

  • Regarding the cheap spare parts, which bits are the most likely to break? The plastics or the actual internals?

    • +3

accidents will primarily occur when hitting the front head on, or hitting the front wheel corner. Spares to have: bumper, shocks, shock tower, front suspension arm, steering link and front upper link.

      • Considering its a twin pack, how many of each part would you recommend?

        • +4

it depends on how serious you are with racing these cars… if around the home/ backyard then you will break things quickly given the speed of it and all the obstacles. However, if in a car park or say a tennis court etc then maybe 1 spare of each will be good to have, this way you fix quickly and enjoy while waiting for the new spare to arrive. Mine was simply to fast around my 9m x 4m paved area and hence the need for more spares. If you can afford it now, then buy a few more at $2 each as that is cheap. Especially get a whole new set of wheels as well. However, if the novelty of racing these cars will wear out quickly for you or you won't have time anymore, then don't get spares as the chance is that you will not break it in the year or so of using it. Interestingly that the cost of spares may end up costing more than a car, so if you will only use one car, then keep the other for spares! However if using both cars, then consider buying 2 x twin pack and use the other cars for spares.

@Logical: So who do I pass my Ozbargain Membership card in to?? Hate to say it but I bought two, then racked up $80 in spares :-o Clicked on submit, was reviewing my order on the email received and thought "what have I just done????". At this price, they are AWESOME!!! They go SO fast, you WILL need spares. After three turns, no need for spares just yet, but it is definitely only a matter of time before a brain fart causes me to hit a gutter at about 40kmh. I saw they were still available online (some spares sold out - probably me sorry), and free delivery until 3rd September with a $50 spend. Get on it.

I resisted buying back then given the shipping cost of $16. However now there is free shipping and the twin pack is still $60, so I pulled the trigger and bought the twin pack with free delivery. Nice!

        • @Logical: Thanks for the update. Just ordered a twin pack :)

        • So I have ordered it on the 28/08 and status still Processing. Have anyone have their delivered using the free post?
