Roadworthy Certificates for Cars, Utes, Vans and 4x4s

INSPECTIONS ARE ALL WE DO, NO REPAIRS!
Because VIA only inspects your vehicle, you can be confident no “extra” repairs will be required. VIA specialises in roadworthy inspections. Our roadworthy inspection facility is designed for efficiency, so no long waits or delays.

UP TO 30 DAYS FREE RE-INSPECTIONS
Unlike traditional workshops that charge another full roadworthy re-inspection fee after 7 days, we understand your life is busy. If a fault is found during inspection, we give you a full 30 days to fix the item and have the vehicle re-inspected.

CONVENIENCE, SIMPLICITY AND TRANSPARENCY
VIA is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm. No more time out from your busy work schedule for an inspection.

Inspections usually only take up to 60 minutes, so sit back and relax with a complimentary tea or coffee in our customer lounge.

VIA staff members are trained and experienced vehicle experts. The inspection process will be fully transparent, and any faults found will be thoroughly explained in plain language with reference to relevant VicRoads regulations.

So how do they make money from making up phantom problems with your car that need repairing then? They might not do the repairs themselves, but surely they have 'recommended repairers' with whom they have agreements to find fake faults and refer you on to?

So happy we don't have this arcane scheme in South Australia.

Hi Xyron. VIA is independent and not associated or affiliated with any repairers, nor do we make recommendations on where customers can have repairs performed. Around 50% of customers surveyed prefer to repair their own vehicles, hence the demand for this unbiased independent service.

Your service sounds very promising to the poor sods living in Victoria and labouring under the 'cash-for-mechanics' scheme that the current Roadworthy Certificate system is, in that case. Might be an idea to start up in Queensland too!

If a government wants to impose mandatory vehicle inspections, they should do it the NSW way, and penalise/burden every road user on the road, not just those who change vehicles often. It is also the only way to truly ensure the roadworthiness of all vehicles on the road, as it puts cars that remain in the ownership of one person (or more likely, remain "in the family") for many years in a row, and thus never face the scrutiny of an RWC inspection.

Anyway, that's my soapbox rant over :)

Xyron, you are 100% correct. I think everyone in Victoria prays for a more equitable system soon! We decided to start VIA because we saw the problems you are concerned about, and we are trying to provide a fairer solution. Thanks again for your comments.

  • $99 for a roadworthy wtf

i had mine done two weeks ago on a old car and it cost me $70

    • +1

where did you go? I have a Golf I need to fix up and get back on the road.

    • +4

      Rubbish.

There is no one in VIC that will do a RWC for a anything near $70. I had mine done 3 months ago for $140, and I thought that was a good price.

      • im in country victoria, not mates rates lol?

    • +2

I call BS on this one. In all my years getting RWCs in VIC I have NEVER heard of a mechanic pricing it at $70 for a walk-in customer. If its a mates rate then get out of here.

    • yeah, full of BS, i do my RWC for $150 3 months ago

  • Any chance for motorbikes to come soon??

    • +2

Hi Thiefsie, yes we are working on it and should be able to provide motorbike RWCs soon.

      • Great concept VIA, well done. But please explain why $99 for a motorbike/scooter?

A roadworthy inspection for a 2-wheeler should only take minutes, right?

        • inspection is nothing, the certificate worth $99

Good deal, but with PISSES ME OFF big time, you take your car to say 5 different places and they will ALL be different

ALL depends how hard you are on marking the vehicle

Sell the car without plates, without RWC and let the buyer worry about it

    • +1

Try to sell the car without plates and rwc and watch the car either take an additional couple weeks to sell.. IF you are lucky. And that's already assuming you have re-priced it accordingly.

  • +1

normal price for a RWC in QLD is $70

You guys sure get shafted in VIC

  • +2

Roadworthy Certs were once $88 EVERYWHERE until the VACC and other groups with mechanics and LMCT's financial interests in mind pressured VicRoads to deregulate the fees in the name of "safety".

Mechanics charge more, dealers profit because of the increased costs of selling privately, and the consumer once again gets shafted.

    DEAL EXTENDED UNTIL MID-SEPTEMBER

will stiff suspension (coilovers) pass your RW test?

  • Swung through here today, very pleased with the service while you wait.
Good clean workshop, all the right equipment.
There' no affiliation with a workshop, so you wont get stung for non-RWC repairs as has happened before with me

Although not strictly a bargain they are thorough by the book, the service and convenience make it a good value proposition.

Andrew's the man to ask for.
