[Group Deal] Rosewill Red LED Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Cherry MX Blue $79.99 @ Mwave

Hi all,

Just got an email about this. A better offer then the Steelseries from a day or so ago since they both look like a generic keyboard with no added functions (volumn up, macros etc.)

Apparently available in cherry blue, red and brown. With Red or Blue LED.

Paypal checkout only.

It is a group deal but the quantity required seems low, so it should go ahead.

    • Cheers mate!

    • can never get enough Marco keys!

  • +2

grabbed the blue LED with cherry brown - been wanting a mechanical with backlit… :)

    • +1

Just grabbed one too, seems like a great price!

    • phenomenally fast shipping - mine arrived this morning :) (picked up on the way to work from my local PO, will have to wait to test it out tonite) :)

  • which of the cherry switches would be quietest or most suited for office use?

    • +1

      Definitely brown.

Blues are the loudest keyswitches Cherry make.

      • I have heard that Brown is the best as a balance for gaming and typing, good spring back/response time and not too noisy any comments?

also if I purchase how do I pick brown, blue or red?

and if I had a budget more like $150 what is the best mech keyboard out there?

        • 1) No comment, I've only ever use the blue and red

          2) Added to the description

          3) I don't think there is a "best" mech kb. It depends on what you like, I personally want the Corsair K95 but can't seem to sell my Corsair K90.

I believe they are all the same as long as they use the same key type. Just different design and brand.

    • Not sure, but i heard the brown ones were "supposed" to be the quietest. Sorry couldn't be much help.

I've personally tried blues and red, quite frankly, blues are louder then red. How they compare to brown is beyond me.

      • Browns and Reds don't have the "click" feedback so they are quieter compared to the Blue switches, unless you are like me and bottom out on your keys regardless. I was considering getting one of these to annoy the luddites in my office….so BLUE for me.

        • +1

          I'm going reds.
Have a red & brown next to each other & don't need as much pressure for the reds & seem a bit quieter.

        • @Psychd:
Wait you found reds for this deal? I thought i saw red somewhere but couldn't find it…

    • O rings go a long way in helping make them quieter, I've had both brown and blue in the office with o rings installed (5 min mod) with no issues at all. Since I much prefer blue switches to browns that's great for me!

    • Definitely Red

  • +1

    red/brown my personal preference.

    blue is so loud…

  • i'm a cheapskate - is there a mechanical keyboard for like $30?

    • Nope. This is pretty cheap. My Logitech RRP was $200 when I bought it.

    • I doubt it, cheapest was the mwave ones or the other generic brand ones. and they were always >$70.

    • guys see below…found $50 mechanical keyboards..

    • You can find new, real, mechanical keyboards for ~ $50 (usually no-name ones), but the two linked ones aren't mechanical.

    • Definitively not the same. This can't be negged enough.

    • my bad - yes - these are 'mech feel' not actually mech.

  • I'm not sure how good the mechanical keyboard is, but if you want something that feels tactile and is cheap, you can try the Rosewill Chicklet Keyboard.

With chicklet keyboards, you will feel every keypress as the travel distance is very small and they aren't as noisy (think laptop keyboard).

  • Thanks OP! Another trip to Mwave again
Just wondering whether this is a Rosewill Apolo or a Rosewill Helios? Mwave's site is a bit confusing

    • +1

Yeah the mwave site is abit dodgey… but from the description, this should be the Rosewill apollo.

  • how is it if compared to Razer Blackwidow ultimate, steelseries, topre, Thermaltake, corsair, etc?

    • Razer Blackwidow Ultimate uses Cherry blues so the noise will be about the same if not quieter for the cherry brown version. Less functions though.

Steelseries uses Cherry blacks so i'm not too sure how to compare.

Don't know about topre or Thermaltake.

Corsair uses Cherry reds, so the cherry blue version of the rosewill will be louder and have less functions. (i.e. no volume control etc.)

Basically what I'm trying to say is that, they use the same keys pretty much so in terms of durability its all chance. When buying a cherry key mech keyboard you compare for design and functions and not durability.

  • Deal back on

    • It's coming up as $129?

      • Two days ago I got an email saying the blue switches were on sale. Might have been a one day thing. Are you signed up to their mailing list?

        • No not on their list. Guess I must have missed it… Again! Lol.

  • +1

I got blues from this deal. Very hard to get used to,coming from a laptop keyboard. Gotta press real hard on the keys. Not sure if I'll ever get used to it…
