IDAPT I4 Universal Charger (Four Port Gadget Charger) @ DSE for $5 (with Free Shipping)

1300

This is one big black ugly looking charging station but its super cheap. I just bought one from DSE for $5, they retail for $44.99 on the manufacturers website (http://www.idaptweb.com/collections/universal-charger/produc…).

It comes with the following connections: - 1x iPhone 5, 1x iPhone 4, 2x microUSB, 1x miniUSB. It chargers four devices at once and you can swap the charging tips. From the manufacturer's website:

'IDAPT i4+ is an innovative charging solution that eliminates cable clutter and charges four devices simultaneously, as fast as the original manufacturer’s charger. IDAPT’s patented interchangeable tip system allows you to safely charge almost any combination of portable devices. It is compatible with past, current and future generations of devices. It combines style with simplified charging, perfect for everyone’s mobile lifestyle.

• Charge 4 devices simultaneously (3 IDAPT ports + 1 Powerful USB)
• Includes 5 modular tips (1x iPhone 5, 1x iPhone 4, 2x microUSB, 1x miniUSB) for all generations of iPhone, Samsung, Android, LG, Google, GoPro, Blackberry
• Fast & Powerful charging: delivers 25 Watts in total.
• Recharge tablets (iPad, Galaxy Tab) and eBooks (Kindle…)
• 2 Years warranty'

Also the tips are $5 (lightning tip example) - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/idapt-charging-tip-lightning-dsa…

Enjoy it, I will.

EDIT: If you feel like destroying the planet or buying these out of stock you could buy a second station just for the three tips on top. Ie I just bought a second iPhone 5 tip for $5 but I could have (or should have) bought a second station for the interchangeable tips but i thought what a waste. But the option is there. Hope that makes sense

EDIT 2: Available on eBay store for those who missed out, Use code CSHIP4FREE for free shipping

EDIT 3: Out of stock on eBay store

EDIT 4: Triple device still in stock http://www.dicksmith.com.au/idapt-i2-universal-charger-dsau-…. It has two top loaded device tips and a USB port.

EDIT 5: Looks like this model isn't the '+' model and doesn't include the lightning connector. Hope this hasn't put anyone out (me included!). From a google search looks like it comes with these tips - '6 Tips (Apple, Mini USB, Micro USB, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung)'

  • I received a refund from DSE today for the two units I ordered. The odd thing is, I actually received the two units I ordered?!

Anyone else in the same boat?

  • Ordered an i2 from the DSE site on the 14th, still no despatch or anything :S do you think they forgot to email me about cancellation?

    • Have you been charged for it yet?

      • Yeah

        • Let us know how you go. I've got 2 of the i4s… but haven't opened, and not sure if I'll set up, the second one!

    • got cancellation notification today, that too, from paypal! :(

  • also have an i4 if anyone wants one, don't think I'll use mine, nexus 5 is backwards. $5, Sutherland Shire.

    • I can take it, let me know.. please PM me.

      • I can't - says you don't accept new conversations (either because you're a new member or haven't set it up)

  • "Dear Valued Customer,

Due to an unexpectedly high demand for this item & a technical issue affecting our inventory systems this product has been oversold. Unfortunately our inventory was depleted prior to your order being processed & we are unable to fulfil this item as requested. I know, hilarious right! I'm laughing on the inside…

        • Sorry, had to Laugh out Loud!!! :D
Edit: Happy for you to have one of mine, but postage probably kills it a bit.
Surely someone in your area is happy to part with one!

        • @Snoop: the email was actually about the lightning tip

        • @clarky:
Still shafted though! Kinda why I'm not too fussed about the second one, as the Mrs has an i5!

  • Anyone in WA interested in one?
I will sell you mine at cost price.
    pick up is at Balcatta/Waterford.

I ordered the idapt 2. I like it. Good value for $5 delivered.

Have a few USB adaptor cables etc, so have adapted a mini-USB plug in the base to a USB socket to take other cables, added a suction phone holder on top surface (somehow free from Tmart with points I never earned) to hold Huawei G526 Android phone charged with lead from that USB socket, small light Huawei Y201 Android phone or Pocket WiFi modem sits well on micro-USB plug on base, & added a USB voltage/current meter to the USB socket on side of base, to monitor & charge a bargain $29 Huawei tablet at up to 1.5A. (All were OzBargain deals!)

idapt4: I just plugged mine in and throw the kid's iPhone4 or Galaxy S4 straight on top, and the Mrs i5 and iPads through the USB slot! I really should unpack the other one and use it upstairs too!

Amazing how many people jumped up and down saying that it was poorly designed and wouldn't hold the phone steady enough. I find I have to use a little extra force to get the S4 back off of the thing!

      • That's why I thought I would post my use & that I'm happy with purchase. Unplugged a few chargers, clearing many power points after it arrived. Glad I'm not alone :-)

Although I would not put much pressure on charging sockets of devices as failure would be an expensive error. That's why I only directly charge light, older devices on the base, with leads to devices I would hate to damage (hence the phone mount added to my base to support the larger phone, with a short charging cable to the plug on the base).

I thought too long & missed out on the idapt4 :-(

      • Snoop, the problem isn't holding it steady, it's putting the weight of the phone on the jack, which is soldered directly to the pcb in most cases.
I'm sure it works, but over time you risk causing it to come away. I would suggest layng it down and using a cable.
Good value if it works for you like that.
