  • Ummm OP, WTH is Seven Seas?

Your goods are required to travel through all Seven Seas before they arrive to your destination…

      • Ancient?!? Sheesh…

        • According to Wikipedia: The term "Seven Seas" appears as early as 2300 BC in Hymn 8 of the Sumerian Enheduanna to the goddess Inanna.

2300 years Before Christ sounds a bit ancient?

        • -1

@jva: Sure, but there are a lot of old words. Doesn't mean they're an ancient term. :)

OP, maybe post a specific deal in the description as suggested in the Deal Posting Guidelines.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guidelin…

    • Yeah sorry, it's just that the individual listings don't show the upcoming discount, they're only on the sale page

    • If it really does sell for $18.20 on the 19th I'm sure getting one :P

      • why? how does it compare to the other low end tablets?

        • Yeah look it's probably not exactly great, except for the price.

  • Did anyone buy from aliexpress before? Hows the experience?

More than 5 transactions already so far so good but if you order a mobile phone I suggest use DHL shipping. Normally arrive within 5-7days incl weekend.
DEPENDING ON THE SELLER's rating, higher rating and easy to chat or communicate is better.

I have bought many things from Ali-express, and it is hit and miss. I bought a couple of jackets, boots, a phone and they were fantastic. The 2 jackets were the best I've ever owned at an amazing price, and the boots were awesome (I was lucky as buying shoes/boots from them is a lucky dip. I had a tablet die within warranty that cost $55 to ship back then took 6months to come back of which I had to pay postage only to have it die 5 days later (I just fixed it myself in the end). Another phone died right on the warranty. After continually crashing. Clothes are very hard as the sizes are all over the place. Australian sizing is only sometimes XXL Chinese size. I bought several XXL shirts that I can't even fit my arms through. I just received 3 t-shirts which I bought at XXL, turns out they were US XXL (they didn't specify country size on the page) and they look like dress's (and not in the good maybe my wife can get away with it look). My 4 year old has gotten many clothes through them, and whilst they're great they always need to have something re-glued or re-sewn. The escrow is only good for when you get the item, not for how long it lasts, reliability etc. You'll get something much cheaper, but it will cost a fortune/write it off if something goes wrong. I bought 2 Attack on Titan figurines, one was broken, so via the escrow I only paid for the non-broken 1.

  • Yes cue the negative comments!!! Worse experience ever. Bought a media box from some seller (99.x rating) in Feb. Took 5-6 weeks to arrive. It was D.O.A. After a week of messaging, seller agrees that unit should be posted back. Said it would only cost $10 to post back to China!!! I told them they were dreaming. It cost $30 to post back. Seller then did not collect parcel. luckily I had tracking. told them it was at the post office. took them about 2 weeks to acknowledge they picked it up. then it had to be sent to factory for testing. this took 3 months!!!! constant guarantee extensions, and excuses. then they said they would replace but not postage costs. By this stage the unit was already super seeded. I argued saying they said they would refund all postage. Then came to an agreement where they would send me a new model which first they wanted more money for! then they agreed to send as replacement. A month later (June) nothing arrived. checked. hadn't posted yet. Finally lodged a full dispute. their response was to send the unit back for testing!!! hahahaha I escalated it. had to send screen caps of the msg logs they already had in the ali msg system, constant live chats to help there who were useless. Was asked repeatedly to send the unit back. In the end had to resort to threats to Ali and seller that I would write up the whole experience and post it on every site possible and name the seller too. Finally only got the $120 back start of this month and lost out on the $30 postage. 6 months to sort out! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

that's why you should use Paypal

    • I had mixed experience before.
Two of them tried to scam but Aliexpress system refunded me.
In one instance, a $20 good was broken (cake stand got bent).
I asked them for refund and they asked me to send back.
At the end they refunded $10 and I could fix that myself.
While there is no Paypal but I found that Mastercard protection is good enough.
Waiting time for most free shipping items is always at least 2 weeks.
But if I need things urgently, I just pay premium and buy locally in Australia.

I had around 20 transactions with them, about 90% of my experiences are good.

    • AliExpress has a bad dispute system.

In my case I ordered a Small belt and they sent a Large. After providing a ridiculous amount of documentation including photos to the stupid dispute center the seller just did nothing.

Luckily my credit card company was happy to chargeback that amount.

    • I've had 70+ transactions with Aliexpress. apart from dodgy micro sd cards (if they are too cheap then they are fake) where dispute resolution provided a full refund. all my experiences have been good to really good. I received an item this morning from a previous sale. awesome, and a tenth of what I could get for here in a shop. Received an incomplete order on friday (bought 100 pcs and only received 10pcs) dispute management process resulted in a refund of 90% a few days later.

Similar experience with Sammyboy last year. This was with a multi diamond seller.
Then I had a brain fart this year and tried to pre-order a phone from there. 3 months later (last week) and I had to use the refund function. This was with a crowned (30000+) seller
I wouldn't trust buying anything worth more than $200 from there.

  • FYI, bought a refurb S3 last night at the 50% off rate ($160 US).

Just asked them if they could do the sale price now… bingo :)

    • How did you do that? Do they have online chat?

    • Hey bro, how did you pay? Do Mastercard charge you on top since theres no paypal and its seen as an overseas transaction?
