  • Just a word of advice.the "Panasonic" eneloop is probably "Made in China".Be aware of that caveat.

    • well what batteries are NOT made in china these days?

      • +4

You are aware i hope that the "Sanyo" eneloops were made in japan and are still available in many places. Or you can go for Fujitsu branded batteries which apparently are made in the same factory in Japan as the sanyo eneloops.

        http://ru.nkon.nl/4-aa-fujitsu-nimh-batteries-in-case.html

45$ delivered for 16 batteries with case or you can get the sanyo eneloops there as well.

or if you want to pay more……

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fujitsu-Ready-to-Use-4-x-AA-Recha…

        MADE IN JAPAN !!!

        • +5

Just because it is made in Japan does not simply mean it is superior quality, vice versal, just because it is made in China does not mean inferior quality either.

        • +1

Yup. $14.95 delivered for 4 Fujitsu AA Made in Japan rechargeable batteries or $29.90 delivered for 8 batteries that are made in the same factory as the Eneloop made in Japan batteries. That's a way better deal than this Panasonic Eneloop 8pk for $45.

          @highdealer:
Chinese made products are notorious for their bad quality and has been for years. especially quality control. I think most people would prefer made in Japan stuff given a choice.

        • +1

          @hollykryten:
          Its 8 x 2 pack for 45$

        • @techno2000:

Ohwell i guess that makes it sound better.

        • +2

          @smurfinaus:
iPhones are made in China …

        • @smurfinaus: Yes, like the apple, samsung, microsoft and just about everything you use are bad quality because they are chinese made right!

        • @techno2000:

The Eneloop AA Chocolat 8pk on Dick Smith eBay store is $99.96 for the 8 batteries or $12.50 per battery. I can't believe the price. Yesterday it was $45. Looks like Dick Smith is into jacking up a price so high that no one will buy it.

Sanyo eneloop are made in Japan

        • Sanyo (and the brand name "Sanyo") were bought by Panasonic a year or two ago. Any Eneloops saying "Sanyo" on them are probably batteries that were made before the sale or shortly thereafter.

As "Panasonic"-branded Eneloops are available, they have probably ceased to make Eneloops with Sanyo branding.

      • +1

Varta - most are made in Germany or USA.

        • The varta AAA rechargeables i have are made in china though.

        • @techno2000:

The varta AAA alkalines i have are made in Germany

    • Be cognizant of that abolition.

    • +1

      probably "Made in China

Not probably… It was confirmed by many with the last deal Dick had on the Pano's!

    • Just on the topic of rechargeable batteries, any suggestions on a charger?

      • I just looked can not find the Panasonic available.

Maybe an AccuPower IQ328 then. But they arent as cheap.

Panasonic BQ392 Has plenty of smart features and protections. Cheap too. FastTech is fasttech, its up to you ~~where you buy it but Ive had no real issues with FT, just a tad slow at times but they are sold out anyway.

        http://www.fasttech.com/product/1136300-authentic-panasonic-bq-392-intelligent-charger

The FT one comes with a US plug, but if you look at the pictures you will see the lead type and Im sure most ~~people have one laying around with an Aussie plug on it. It will work as its a standard figure 8 lead.

Im not a fan of the LaC above, it has been known to miss terminations. Some battery snobs will not own one for ~~ ~~various reasons.

    • So?

      • +2

Because of the same thing with a multitude of products maufactured in China… QC - Quality Control!
I'm definitely not anti Made in China as I bring a bit in myself. But you have to be honest, their QC standards 'generally' aren't as strict as some neigbouring countries!

    • what difference does that make?

Also the choc eneloops were released in Japan in 2011. Can't find anything to say where they are made though.

      • The 2100 recharge cycles and 2000mAh is the giveaway. The previous ones were only 1800 cycles and 1900mAh!

        • nvm

    • Note he said PANASONIC Eneloop. He is correct. Panasonic are making Eneloops in both CHINA and Japan. We in Oceania, will be getting the Chinese Eneloops. Over the next couple of years, everyone will be getting the Chinese Eneloops. Its part of Panasonics ownership and cashing in on the brand, and changes to improve profit.

They may be every bit as good, time will tell. In the early days of the shift, some global regions will get Chinese, others from Japan, we in Oceania are in the Chinese test.

This is 2 for 1 sale where you buy 2 in 1 for the price of 2.

    • I swear by the beard of Zeus those Belkin audio cables were about $9.32 the other day in a sale.

      • Wouldn't be surprised. I'm pretty certain those Logitech keyboards were around $20 each until this sale.

Edit: $24.98 each on their eBay store

      • Thanks for the information pandaaram, the prices themselves don't look as good as the other day though…don't forget free shipping code if the code is still available…

  • +1

You'll find the Eneloop charger is made in China. I bought combined charger and batteries a little while back and the batteries are made in Japan still.

    • The older Sanyo stock is, But not the Panasonic ones we're now getting here from DS.

  • +7

I'd like to know what part of this people think is an actual bargain, those prices are high.

    • High? Maybe. RRP in DS for Eneloops is 8 for $39. And in some colours its 8 for $49. These are not inflated DS prices, it is the normal in store price. Ive picked up 8 AA Loops for under $15 from DS (under 10 for one deal), I own many, many Eneloops but I promise you while they have offered them cheaper, the prices I gave you are the normal ones.

  • If you see it listed as 65% after 5 years, then it's made in China.

If you see it listed as 70% after 5 years, then it's made in Japan.

There are slight differences in the packaging - but also check the model number, as they are different (I think CCE = made in China).

Find some Sanyo stock if you want it to be made in Japan.

I bought some for dick smiths the other week when they were $20 for 8 and they are made in japan

Did DSE just double the price on most of these items so they could say they had a sale but still charge full price?

  • +3

    But where is the deal??

  • How come when I earlier today tries to post one section of this deal due to URL starting with DiskSmith site didn't allow that to happen and now this post is using link from same site. Then after some time I posted on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/156429

Not sure what happened while I were trying to post.

  • If they're not made in Japan like the Sanyo brand then there's no need to pay the premium price. Why not just buy the cheap ENITIME 750mAH instead.

    It's $6 for 4xAAA + free shipping.

  • +3

The DS Standard HDMI 3m cable was $4.98 delivered recently. I wouldn't pay $15 + delivery for a DS standard HDMI cable. And seriously $99 for an 8-way power board. The Surge Protector 8-way power board was $25.39 delivered recently and that's just about the same as the 8-way network ready power board except it lacks network connections.

The prices that i see on the 2 for 1 are a ripoff. Who in the right mind would pay those prices. Where's the deal?.

  • anyone want to split some disappointment with me?

  • -1

    This is cheap: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/dick-smith-small-digital-camera-…

Get 2 for 1. or 4 for $13 shipped. I'm gonna use one for my DS, one for a portable hard drive, one for my camera and give the remaining one to a friend.

    • Too small for DS and hard drive.

      External Dimensions: 8cm x 2.5cm x 11cm
